    Couchy had a beautiful raking left foot that often found Gazza and Big Billy lace out. Absolute star and lovely guy. Sadly missed. RIP Couchy. You are much loved and very missed #7

      He had excellent skills...and tough . Buddha put himself about a bit and we needed that too, but Couchy was scrupulously fair - never retaliated, despite some terrible treatment on occasion.

      We beat the other finalists in the run in including Essendon comfortably....just such a shame, especially for guys like Gazza, Couchy, Bews and Buddha...those four were Champions.

    • @garfguy
      @garfguy Před rokem +2

      @@hanajinks1044 yeah It was a real sporting tragedy that we couldn't even win one flag during the late 80s/90s. We also lost 3 night series grand finals too between '88 and '97, so not one piece of silverware to show from that era with all those legendary players. It actually still depresses me thinking about it all. Thankfully, at least the boys have made up for things this century quite magnificently.

      ..beating Collingwood in '11 was real "cherry on top" of those 3 Flags - Menzel was so exciting in that period before he was injured - the only guy I've seen that anywhere near as good as Gazza.

    • @stevet9938
      @stevet9938 Před rokem +2

      I'm a Carlton supporter but I totally agree, 1993 was an opportunity lost for the Cats, 5 wins over finals bound sides including the reigning premiers on their home ground.
      The Geelong sides from that period from 89 to 95 were my favourite to watch of any era.... and Gazza snr is the best player I've ever seen. I really wish that they had won a flag. I also think that 1990 was a missed opportunity, the Cats had more talent on their list than Collingwood that year but unfortunately couldn't get it together consistently at any stage that year and make a run at the finals.
