What a fantastic era Hawthorn was involved in, with such great players in it's club, you could argue it was the team of the Century I don't barrack for them, but you have to admire the clubs achievements, with players such as Jason.

    God I like this interview.
    Bloody excellent Mike.
Thank you Jason for articulating yourself so very well.
    Great interview mate.
Yes I'm a Hawthorn supporter ever since Winter 71 when David Parkinson brother gave me a Hawthorn jumper and I put number 27 on my Hawthorn jumper and then they won their second flag.
I went to the school where they trained. First Form '78 Hawthorne Premiership.
    Final year '83 Hawthorne Premiership.
Its hard to describe the extacy of seeing Hawthorn win a flag and 12 Premiership of the 13 in my lifetime.
    1971, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015.
It would be absolutely remiss of me not to acknowledge the fabulous competition that teams like North Melbourne, Carlton, Essendon, West Coast and Geelong have been through Hawthorns era's.
I never take a Grand Final for granted. Been to winning ones and loosing ones. I rejoiced when the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne won their recent flags. God I wish St Kilda would win one during my lifetime. Its not survivor guilt or victors guilt, its just humanity and empathy because as a fan, St Kilda fan/supporters/member are no less and no more than I am a Hawthorn fan/supporter/member. It must hurt barracking for a team all your lide and not seeing them triumph. I sure hope St Kilda win a flag before Gold Coast, Fremantle or Greater Western Sydney do.

He is not an ego maniac like others. He was always a team player and he was the best full forward I have ever seen and yes I am a Hawthorn man , but he was a Champion .

I am a crows fan but have always said that Dunstall is the best full forward ever. He could take every type of mark from slips catches to hangers to courageous to flat out on the lead - phenomonal hands ! A rubber ball who also handed off many goals and never staged for frees.

@@johnmac9572 Do you know how good it is to hear a fan of another team say this ? I get accused of bias when I say it and maybe I am a bit ? But he was incredible and Dermott said if you wanted a guy to play for your season to get you when you want to go and be ? It was Dunstall.

But he kicked as many as Dunstall even tho he played half of his career from the flank!! I was at the 89 GF and dreaded every time it came out of midfield quickly cos Dunstall would already have five yards on Darcy. But he didn't "have everything". He was tough, courageous and quick, and an extremely accurate kick. But he rarely took a pack mark and certainly couldn't fly. Gazza was one of the great aerialists, and could kick longer and more accurately than anyone. He was quick and tough - a bit of an enforcer actually, and was just as effective on his opposite side. It's possible that if Blight had've coached him his whole career that we'd be talking about the only player to kick 2000 goals...no exaggeration.

The best full forward of all time. Don't mean about the goals but he was a team player four flags of which he said he would trade all his goals for ! He is straight forward honest and some might say arrogant but he has done and won and still is a Hawk. Allan Jeans saw what nobody else saw in him.

If the best measure of a full forward's greatness is goals-per-game then Peter Hudson is Hawthorn's greatest ever full forward and Jason Dunstall comes in 2nd. Dunstall was a truly great player but Hudson was a freak. Because of their spectacular high marking Warwick Capper, Tony Modra and others were more spectacular than both Hawthorn champs.

I put to you Hawthorn weren’t a team of champions - just a champion team with a lot of well put together role players. If you had 10 champion players in the team there would be no such thing as a close finish or a lost grand final. We just pump up premiership teams but they are probably in the single to low double digit percentage points better than other teams. A team of dependables hitting form around the same time is how l would describe a lot of the 3 peat dynasty teams
