What do you think of the new layout for Roku and overall how DirecTV Stream is on the Roku platform?
Currently on xfinity for TV and thinking about switching. Wife likes to turn on the TV and have the channel immediately play. I presume going to DirecTV Stream without any type of box it will not go directly to the last used source, it will simply display all the streaming apps? Thanks
If you use a Roku for DirecTV Stream and say go to another input the DirecTV Steam app will close and then you should be at the Roku home screen when you go back. On the Google TV device the app does stay open if you change to another input and then go back. Now going back to the last used source may depend on the TV being used and its settings. Hopefully your question was understood correctly.
How to activate Second Audio programming(SAP) in the channel?
We don't believe the app itself for DirecTV has this option. It appears though that some premium channels may have this option built-in to the channel settings. HBO and a few other premiums. SAP has typically been built into the TV settings itself.
Does DirecTV Stream actually work as an App on a Smart TV without need for an external device like Rok/Firestick...
It certainly does. The app is available for smart TVs such as Samsung. Samsung has its own Tizen operating system and it's available there. Also If aTV has a Google based or Roku based operating system you can also get the DirecTV app without the need for an external device. 😉
Apple TV app got this?
Don't believe so. Fire TV doesn't nor does the Samsung app. Roku is a big platform for DirecTV stream for bring your own device customers.

@@imstillhereileft7530 It would depend on if you're referring to the Chromecast with the Google TV device that you hook up to your TV. If so, then yes this newer layout would apply. We did a video on this as well. If you're casting directly from your phone then no there won't be the interface on your TV that you can interact with. It just plays right from your phone on your TV.
