    I’ve had one of these for about a year in the UK and it is sooo good for moving around small towns or a big city. Screw it I’ve even bombed a grassy hill in my time of having this! I’ve taken this to London in the past with no problems whatsoever, it’s good for bombing hills with time and practice, one suggestion I would like to make is to bend your legs a lot more on hills and creating an almost, “S”, pattern. This will help curving the hill almost like snowboarding and thus controlling your speed! So much fun in a playful size would definitely recommend if you are in the market for a cruiser that you want to pop a couple ollies every now and then as the boards tail will wear quite easily!! Great video though, I really want to try longboarding in the future sometime as it looks a lot more stable on the hills.

      Ogden Sikel do you recommend the dinghy board for someone who is pretty much a beginner who wants to just ride around their neighborhood for fun

    • @OgdenSikel
      @OgdenSikel  Před 4 lety +4

      @@joshmahler1113 Yeah! you definitely could do that! But if you're planning on riding it for 40+ minutes without break, I'd look into a longboard instead, because the dinghy can be sore on the feet for really long rides. But for around the neighborhood? yeah, I think you'll have a lot of fun! Just make sure you're practicing a lot, because smaller boards are trickier when it comes to balancing, so its gonna take more practice to become comfortable on it.

    I'm thinking about getting one of these for myself now, I have never learned how to skate before, but I would love to get this to learn and eventually use it to skate to work instead of going by bike. Most of the way has just some sidewalk and then a nice smooth bike lane and I think it will be a lot more convenient, since I would'nt have to park my bike somewhere and then walk the rest of the way to work, instead I'd be able to go right up to work and just store it in the office right near me! Maybe it will even help me get there quicker at some point too, I have a lot of trouble with losing stamina on my bicycle because of my asthma xd

    I've been thinking about getting a cruiser board and I think the dinghy is my best option here. I have to walk to school Wich is a mile. My main concern is that there is this one big hill on my way there so maybe I'll have to change my walking route next year. I don't want to do alot of tricks mabey just a simple ollie. Plus it's my first skateboard so it might be kinda hard for me to learn at first but some of my friends know how to skate and they said that they'll teach me :)

    I’m thinking about getting my first board and was looking at penny boards at first. Now I’m thinking about the dinghy..
    I feel like I want a cruiser deep down but scared to spend $150 on something I’ll regret

    • @OgdenSikel
      @OgdenSikel  Před 4 lety +6

      Hey! So a dinghy is definitely going to be much better in a lot of ways than a penny board, but also if it’s your first board, just know that it might be more tricky to learn how to ride, because the smaller board requires better balance than other boards. This could make it a little more dangerous too because it can be easier to fall off. That being said, you still can learn on these, just be careful. As to your question, if a cruiser board fits your needs more than a skateboard and longboard, then I don’t think you’ll regret the dinghy. These things last years if you take care of them, so it’s an investment that’s well worth it! Hope that helps, feel free to ask other questions.

    Hey man, Great review. What size risers are on the turbo king? just wondering cause I've heard that with the 72mm plow kings and the risers, the board feels like it sits very tall.. almost too tall. Do you find that to be the case? Also, are the wheels so heavy where its hard to do flip tricks? I'm someone who likes to cruise as well as flip my board around, do you think this will be an issue. I've been looking into the same board lately, and I don't know if I should pull the trigger or not.. Any helpful thoughts?

    I got this and it's nice, but there are a few things that bug me. First, the trucks squeak a hell of a lot on mine; admittedly I ain't rode it much yet, but were yours like that out the box? Also, the trucks are kinda heavy, which is good for traction, but I'm not great at ollies, so the weight and huge wheels make it a little difficult when it comes to ollieing curbs. Awesome diy graphic btw. Could you link the tailguard also pls?

    • @OgdenSikel
      @OgdenSikel  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey thanks for the comment! First off, I just linked the tailguards in description! I will say they aren’t the best at staying on though, and require a clamp to really lock them onto the board. As for the trucks, mine didn’t squeak initially but after painting and reassembling the board they for some reason started to squeak....I’ve read that paraffin wax can get rid of the squeaky sounds...actually I’ll probably make a video on this soon. As for the ollies, I agree with you on that; you definitely can learn tricks on it but it’s a little more difficult and because of the lack of a raised nose, it’s easy to miss your landing and get Injured. My advice would be to focus more on your pop of the board, because the back tail is extra tall and can help you get those tricks higher in the air. Keep practicing!!!

Really enjoying it ,still getting used to it tho but I just love the fact that I’m gonna finnaly be able to do some tricks with it and that’s what motivates me even more to get on it and learn. I have a question, how long does it take until you get tired of pushing with the dinghy turbo and would a different board be better for an all around board that can do everything? I’m actually coming out with some beginner guides for learning how to skateboard, but some advice would be just keep practicing your balance and practice pushing around on flat areas. Put most of your weight on the foot near the front of your board also...but yeah keep a lookout for the beginner guides I got coming! Should have some more up within the month

Now if you're talking CRUISER boards, like the one in this video, I think they are really good for college campuses because of their portability. Be warned though, learning tricks on this can be risky, because the board isn't very forgiving when you mess up. Which would you recommend for cruising around town. Longboard or Dinghy?

    • @OgdenSikel
      @OgdenSikel  Před 4 lety

      Depends on the town; if your town has a large downtown area that you plan on skating the most, get the dinghy: its more maneuverable and easier to navigate around in condensed areas. On the other hand, if your town has a lot of long trails that you will be utilizing, a longboard will be more comfortable and stable for those long rides. My current town is like this so I use my longboard mostly, but I'm going to college this fall in a large city for a major downtown area, so my Dinghy will likely be used much more. Hope this helped!

    • @OgdenSikel
      @OgdenSikel  Před 4 lety +2

      Hey thanks for your replies, all great questions!
      I actually bought this landyachtz board for college next year in a big city, so yeah, I think that this board would work great for campuses. The only thing that would make me hesitant to recommend this to you is the fact that smaller sized boards are definitely more difficult to learn as a beginner. the smaller size means that your center of gravity doesn't have as much room to shift around, so your balance has to be pretty good. If you can comfortably ride around on a normal sized skateboard, or a longboard, I think you will be fine with adjusting to this....but if not, then you're just going to need to practice a bit more first. It I definitely possible to start with one of these though, but spend a fair amount of time practicing first before going to college.
      Another board that I haven't personally tested, but I've heard great things about is BoardUp, and It might be a perfect board for colleges, and for beginners. Its bigger than the dinghy, and folds up so you can carry it. You can also get this board down from $180 to under $150 by using their coupon code things on their site. Here's a link to their site:
      goboardup.com?ref=38
      As for your other questions, two wheels I like come to mind:
      1. Orangatang 4presidents
      loadedboards.com/products/4president-70mm-longboard-wheel
      2. Hawgs Plow Kings
      landyachtz.com/product/plow-king-72mm/
      I've used both of these and they're big, soft wheels perfect for cruising.
      To conclude, and dinghy boards are going to be great for cruising, and for under $150. The BoardUp could also be the solution you're looking for, as it can be bought for a little under $150, and folds up smaller and is a little more stable. Hope this information helps you, and feel free to reach out with more questions!

      Ogden Sikel Thank you so much! It means a lot you took the time to answer in so much detail. :) I actually had a friend recommend a board to me, it’s called a Globe Blazer XL? I don’t know if you’d have any personal experience with it but if you’re at all familiar or could tell me about it in comparison to the boards you recommended, that’d be great. I think this one is supposed to be bigger, but I’m not really sure how big is too big. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Thank you!!!!

    • @OgdenSikel
      @OgdenSikel  Před 4 lety +1

      Nicole Ruiz ok so I don’t have personal experience riding that board, but it seems to be about the size of the boardup one I mentioned in the last comment. I have two concerns about it: 1. Is the deck flexy enough? Since you’re using the board mainly for cruising it can be nice to have a flexier deck, or one made to dampen vibrations because too much ground vibration can make your feet hurt after a while. 2. My other concern is that the trucks it comes with are not reverse kingpin (google that if u don’t know), and personally I don’t like regular trucks on longer boards as much. They’re fine on small boards, but bigger ones turn strangely with them imo. Also the wheels on the complete are on the small side of things...just things worth looking into!
