In an interview once Gilmour said he knew he would never be the fastest guitarist, so instead he said he wanted his guitar to sound as though it was talking. He succeeded, no-one makes a guitar "talk" the way he does. I grew up with his music/ Floyds, and I doubt I will hear another band like them in this lifetime. End of an era. Simply awesome.
He is a living legend and we are fortunate enough to have him in our lives. Just no guitarists in this f*ckin world can play something like that. He had hundreds of such beautiful pieces on his name. Best musician ever to walk this planet. ✌️

I've watched this video literally hundreds of times, quite possibly over a thousand, and it still makes me emotional every single time. Partly because I feel attached to the soul that comes through those strings and partly because it reminds me of just how unbelievably good Pink Floyd was after he took over for Sid. David is way underated and always has been IMHO.

ive never heard something that was as mesmerizing as this. David isnt your average composer and writer, he's a genius and nothing can come close to him. NOTHING. I felt as if flying through space while listening to this
I have no words that can explain his excellency. We'll never get someone like that ever. He's more than fantastic. My favourite for 50 yrs. (Just retired).
It's as if he was born with a Stratocaster in his hands they were meant to be together and he is the finest exponent of the the instrument. I admire and enjoy listening to many guitarists in the field of rock and contemporary music but Gilmour pushes them all aside with his tone and feel and the incredibly high notes he reaches. Amazing talent hope he never stops writing and playing.

john doe if you really care about playing the guitar, you will eventually learn to shred as it opens more ways you can use in your musical endeavour, saying that fast playing is subpar to long-notes playing is same ignorant as saying that shredding is the ultimate technique to express yourself
I didn't say shredding was subpar, there have been guitarists who use it very well as well as many who don't. All im saying is that gilmour's music reminds me that great guitar playing doesn't require great speed

Good grief, Gilmour comes from another planet. His virtuosity isn’t measured by shredded notes but by the maximum feeling and emotion he is able to evoke out of each note he chooses to play.
One of the highlights of my security work career was meeting David and Polly his wife at the DuMaurier festival at Fowey. Had a lovely conversation with both of them. Will never forget that night

David is being David. At this point in his life he doesn't have to prove anything. But he can honour the Strat, which is what it's all about. He's not competing with the others; he's showing the instrument's versatility. Having said all that, if you have ever seen this live, it will blow your doors off.
This is one of the most beautiful peices of music you can take in and tears are normal here I believe to withstand the the awesomeness of space and time where our loved ones fly awaiting our arrival ...God bless to all who feel this masterpiece by Mr.Gilmore ...

Good grief, Gilmour comes from another planet. His virtuosity isn’t measured by shredded notes but by the maximum feeling and emotion he is able to evoke out of each note he chooses to play.
One of the highlights of my security work career was meeting David and Polly his wife at the DuMaurier festival at Fowey. Had a lovely conversation with both of them. Will never forget that night

David is being David. At this point in his life he doesn't have to prove anything. But he can honour the Strat, which is what it's all about. He's not competing with the others; he's showing the instrument's versatility. Having said all that, if you have ever seen this live, it will blow your doors off.
