    It has been my dream of over 7 years in the UAE to visit the Dubai Air Traffic Control tower. There were times I thought it was almost impossible and giving up. My persistence paid off finally! I was shown all the scenes at Dubai Air Traffic Control. Never give up your dream! Work hard towards the goal!

    This is nothing but an experience I had one time in 2016 when I flew to the Dubai International Airport. As you all know, Dubai is in a desert, and it rarely ever rains, but that day there had been an insane rain shower. Since there's no sewers in Dubai, everything was flooded, including the runways. So we ended up circulating around the airport for at least half an hour before we could land, and I just found it funny how everything was so chaotic only because of rain. I'm from Denmark, so I'm used to it, but it's a totally different thing in Dubai. I also remember that we could see all the other planes in line behind us after we'd landed, and it made me realize how many aircrafts actually land in Dubai every day. It's a lot. But anyway, I just wanted to share it because I've flown to Dubai plenty of times, but this is the one time that really stands out to me. Thanks for reading :)

    There are 3 types of ATCs : ground control, departure/approach control , and radar control. First manages the ground operations (taxi, runway selection, terminal clearance, etc), second manages landing / takeoff and it's local to the airport like the first one. Radar control is for traffic transiting the country's airspace.

    • @YoanGraf
      @YoanGraf Před 2 lety +5

      There are waaay more than 3 positions. Depending airports, you might have : Delivery, apron, ground, planner, aerodrome, dep/app and radar. Now that's just for civilian traffic. If you add military one, you get even more positions, like precision app, mil guidance, tactical atco and so on..
      But usually the guy managing landings, departures and all movements on the runway is absolutely not the approach controller. It's the ADC, or aerodrome controller.

    • @sliferxxxx
      @sliferxxxx Před rokem +5

      In the US, you generally have three types of facilities: ATCT, TRACONS and ARTCC. ATCT= Airport Traffic control towers, TRACON= Terminal radar approach control, ARTCC= Air route traffic control center. Lots of facilities are either of these three or combinations. Within each facility, there are a multitude of positions. Ex: MIA is a combination tracon and atct or what we call an up-down.

    Hi Sam, Thanks for making these wonderful videos and helping viewers to take a virtual tour of the ATC facilities. How did it feel like when you actually passed clearance instruction to one of the aircrafts, during your Simulator facility visit ?

    Thank you. Very much impressive. Spending all my adult life in the cockpit, I am very much fascinated of people whose voices I hear every day on my radio. Of people who are at the opposite side of the channel. I always think - who they are, what are they doing, what is their life? Very difficult nowadays to have an opportunity to see them working. I do appreciate this tour.
