zombieslayer - That would be awesome! I feel like RE2 should be further along than 7 in development so it may be the opposite where they focus on 2 at E3 and tease 7, then have a blowout on 7 at TGS. But you never know...I've been playing RE ever since the original on PlayStation and it literally changed my life. It was a HUGE part of my teenage years.

Whatever genre Resident Evil is, whatever rating the reviewers give, I always, always love RE. No matter if the game is bad or good. This game was very fun. I always enjoy every RE game, considering I'm a huge RE fan. And I love the RE movies too. I know almost all people who don't like RE don't like the movies either but the movies are very well. So, without further-a-do, RE is my best franchise ever. No game will ever replace it.

I've always loved the RE games. 4 is one of my favorites of all time. I also really enjoyed 5. I never played 6 until recently. I do like to look up reviews before I play a game and they always kept me from playing it for some reason. Well. Idk why this game gets as much hate as it did/does. Yeah its more of an action game but its still good! I say it deserves a strong 8.5/10.

Been playing through the RE6 campaigns with my big bro this past week... having some of the most fun with a game in a while, we really need more decent couch co-op/2 player story games nowadays
The PSX Resident Evils were so well paced. They understood that if you can get a player to relax, when a zombie surprises you, it's scary than constantly running from zombie hordes. They also let you absorb your environment. The settings became characters of their own, and despite leaps in technology, interaction with surroundings was greater.

The initial problem with this game is Capcom was like "LOOK AT ALL THESE EXPLOSIONS AND GRAPHICS!!!!!" and I'm like "yeah but what about the core gameplay?" and they're like "BUT LOOK AT THE EXPLOSIONS!!!" -_- devs these days are forgetting the fact that without good core gameplay, you dont have a good game.

Does anyone else miss when each room had a dozen details to explore or coming across something strange and understanding its purpose later in the game, or the intense feeling of isolation the early games invoked? I think it's time to reboot the series from square one and release the virus on a fresh RE story.

I have to say that I really enjoyed my time with this game. I must be incredibly tolerant as I didn't find anything in RE6 tedious.
Regardless, it certainly wasn't as great as RE4, nor as good as RE5, but it was still a heck of a lot of fun.

Resident Evil 6, the Call of Duty of Resident Evil games. Not scary at all, ammo grows on trees, Michael Bay action scenes, and a complete and utter lack of anything that'd make it a horror game. I mean look at the Simmons mutation you fight on top of a train as Leon at one point he just looks flat out laughable. I ended up not even finishing the Leon campaign and not playing the Jake or Chris campaigns. Capcom tried and failed to cater to the COD generation. Get back to the series roots, and listen to your hardcore RE fans.

In no way was RE6 better than RE5... RE5 was a very good game, it just lacked any real horror elements. RE6 was one hell of a mess. Far too many stuff was going on at once that i simply lost interest. Leon campaign was good until it got repetitive just like the majority of the entire game tbh.
Babins1 LOL at least re 6 had some originality, the enemies were far more threatening and all of them were not pull out from past resident evil games like re 5 did.
re6 was a mess but at least it had some creativity to it and it gave me some fun moments through all the campaigns(not saying they were all gr8 each had at least a cool moment to remember).
re 5 had the worst ai i have seen in a while, funny and unoriginal enemies, a gameplay that tried to be like re4 in a time where it feels dated. and many more fails like a almost nonexistent plot to follow...... if you preferred 5 over 6 that its fine cuz we all have differents points of view but shitting on resident evil 6 when it did not fail as hard as 5 is dumb.

The QTEs were pretty unfair, it all just happened so fast and you have no time to prepare. Although the graphics and story were cool, QTEs were the only major issue for me.
I thoroughly enjoyed most of the set pieces, especially in Hong Kong; The city lights at dusk, the highway chases, etc.
I think its safe to say that Resident Evil 2 remake is way better than this

Just re-downloaded Resident Evil 4 after playing this game and I can honestly say, again, that from playing the two games, RE6 remains highly underrated for me. I love Resident Evil 4 and all, and completed the Wii version a few years back, but after playing this game on the PS3, I can say that the game has a lot of flaws. One of the biggest flaws is the controls, they're absolutely terrible when compared to modern day game controls. You can't even move when you aim lol. Not trying to take anything away from Resident Evil 4 or anything, but I think people have been WAY too harsh on RE6 as a game. I will defend this game as much as I can, because I think it has gotten a bad rap it doesn't deserve.
The inability to strafe is the beauty of RE:4 though. It makes the game more challenging and rewarding when you figure out how to pwn on it without the use of such evasive devices. It does however have the quick turn and knife attack which are extremely useful. It also means you have to have better aim and a loosely RPG style element of having to select the right gun for the job while keeping in mind ammo conservation. Meaning you definitely can't endlessly spam shotgun blasts everywhere and expect to have success. Sure these work great when you have them but such ammo is sparser than you'd think. Me I prefer the Red-9 as I'm an appreciator of fine guns and not just how fast and hard they shoot. Professional mode can be tough though but that's what restarts are for I suppose. I just find it a shame how genuinely hard it is to make it through professional without dying!
I think they should really follow up on Re5, the controls and gameplay of Re5 was perfection for a resident evil game in my opinion.
RE5 gameplay is outdated other seriezs did it better including RE6.
Amazing game, so much effort put in to it. Played all campaigns on PC with a friend on no hope first playtrough haha, so much fun!

RE5 wasnt bad, RE6 as well wasnt bad Leon's seem like a traditional RE Chris's i think had to much gun fighting and made me feel like gears of war, and jakes was very similer to Chris's but they did add a thing to Jake's i thought seemed fun, his secondary weapon was his fist, so it allowed you to fist fight if needed to make it feel different or if conserve ammo, Ada's never really played hers, and yes i saw on some comments having the same gameplay would get boring but have to take in account that its resident evil suppose to be a survival horror,and teh gun fighting isnt a bad idea cause people do want teh outbreak to continue but having it at every turn of a corner can get annjoying, just my opinion
This is the best review so far I've seen...everyone else just says this game sucks but I agree it has it's highs and lows...bottom line if you are a resident evil fan than buy this if not it still might be worth renting

Playing Re1-3 all the aspects was scary, the fear of something lurking in the corners, the opening of doors, slow stairs climb etc, playing 4-5 all changed, the nervousness all gone, don't even wanna try 6. I think is for me its the usage of fix camera where they force the player to see the horror at the perspective they want. At this technological age fix cam systems will less likely make an reappearance.
re4 was in the top few games I've ever played, probably best or second best it was amazing!
After Resident Evil CVX. Resident evil was becoming overrated. Resident Evil Remake did nothing to the series unlike RE4 witch save the series from falling.

4EverGamer X Then you haven't played one outside this one. Resident Evil is a survival horror game. While laughable that's what it is. RE 6 is nothing like that. Now while it's a little fun on its own. Take away the resident evil heading and it's honestly just an average 3rd person action game. Maybe a little above but not by a lot.
Yeah I started with RE4 cuz of the humble bundle with capcom and definitely enjoyed it. Much so to where I wondered why RE6 wasn't seen as great. After playing half of the campaigns can see why as the game overall focuses on action more so than survival horror, but even so agree game is still fun and there were a few times I was scared, though not to the extent RE4 did to me. Plus having 4 separate campaigns is pretty nice.
Survival horror fanboy are always going to say RE 4 starting to destory the series. But in true RE 4 save the series and brought new life.
But if course Old school fanboy don't wanna see that way. >_>

Yeah it's not like RE4 didn't inspire people to create completely different games or anything....oh wait, it doesn't matter weather you like the old RE or not RE4 is widely known as one of the best games in the past decade, the older RE games are outdated at this point no one wants Tank Controls for a third person game.
What's done is done, just because some people don't like the direction RE is going doesn't mean they are bad games, the only bad RE game I can think of is Operation Racoon City, aside from that all have been pretty damn good including RE 6, RE 6 is atleast an 8/10 not 0/10 and 4/10 that Nostalgic people are giving it.
kevin mcclure actually I agree they are still good games but bad as re games. its not the controls its that they drifted from their roots. if they took new controls with the elements (not weakened) in place mixed it up and improved on that with a great story then I wouldn't complain. the evil with in is a good example.

I think that they made this game with all the QuickTime events and the "more action, less horror" plan just to see what people thought of it and if they should do it again. tbh it was actually a great game, the Jake and Chris showdown was amazingly done, Chris's voice actor needs a raise cause he was just really good at adding the sadness and drama to some cutscenes, but I do agree that there should be more horror since that's pretty much what RE is, they can keep all the action as long as there is alot of horror in it. And the QuickTime events, just let them RARELY happen.

Resident Evil has seriously hit a low, it is missing everything the originals did right. Capcom knows this, hence the re-release of the original for the next-gen consoles.
Resident Evil 4 was a good game but it started the beginning of the end, the enemies weren't scary due to an ridiculous amount of ammo and the merchant, plus they were essentially humans with weapons. Not the resilient zombies which would drain your ammo in the originals.
What RE4 did right though, is it maintained the atmosphere in some places, and also kept the exploring your location involved along with some (limited) puzzle solving.
If they made an RE in the style of the originals but with the movement, camera and shooting system of RE4 then it would be perfect. Bring back a feeling of isolation, exploration and desperation and we may have a winner. If they can do that right and allow a partner in online co-op to explore by themselves too (or together if they please) then we'd have a winner and a remarkable return to form.
i played this once.. finished chris' story first .. then after chris i moved on to leon's story.. got bored.. so i stopped playing.. then i played RE5 .. after finishing it i immediately wanna play RE6 again.. don't know why.. :-) .. maybe i have accepted that this is the NEW RE.. and i'm not bitching like you guys!! i played all resident evil games.. but if you're an RE fan you'll just accept it.. for me, the reason why the past RE games is not action oriented because of TECHNOLOGY.. it's hard to make action games you know, so maybe they decided to make it easy, to just scare players.. in that kind of graphics in the past it's ugly if you put too much action because of t he shitty graphics.. so please.. accpet it guys.. this is the new RE.. if you don't like it then atleast respect the ones who made this game.

rhov rox I just don't understand why they mad such a drastic 180 from the original RE. This isn't 'new' RE persay, it is bad RE. Most of the fans that have played the old games agree, this new garbage they are making is just a bunch of fireworks and explosions with no real horror. I remember back in the last ever semi-disturbing/frightening RE game was RE4. RE5 may have been awesome but it wasn't horror. RE6 was just a sad excuse to put Leon in the story and to come up with some cheesy story that is extremely rushed. I'm not saying you have to be a conformist, but people like you that enjoy this new RE is the entire reason RE is now bad to most of the old fans. There is no sense in completely changing the core elements of a game, especially in such a drastic way in which they did RE5 and 6. Enjoy it if you will but I just don't understand how such a light show that has no fear factor at all can seem fun...

I think for the next RE they definitely should leave the maneuverability of the characters intact. I liked being able to dive and slide out of the way of attacks and to walk and shoot. It would be a step backward if they removed that.

No it's not. There are plenty of other action games that are much better than Resident Evil 6. That vast majority of the people who bought 6, bought it because it was RE 6. They could've just as easily, and by easy I mean cheap, made a survival horror game, and sold in the same numbers.
If only that were true. Capcom had to sell RE4 on 4 different platforms to make a profit on that game. The RE name isnt enough to push units (not to RE5 and 6 levels). People like the product. Dont get caught up in thinking that because some other people share your perception that there isnt another side of the coin.

I personally enjoyed this... finished the Leon arc and hope to play the others eventually.
I don't know why, but to me Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil 2 are the most enjoyable to me. When I was a kid, the chainsaw wielding enemies, and Regenerators in Resident Evil 4 had me taking pause breaks just to get myself together haha. Also I must say, I didn't realize holding X, or O (on the PS2) made you run. I actually played through half or so of the game just walking...
Anyways, Resident 6 was fun to a extent, but I just wanted something scarier. Lets see what the company will do for Resident Evil 7. I wouldn't mind a reboot with the same characters, and classical gameplay with the use of 2014's tech.
The enviroments in both 2 and 4 were incredible , 4 had a really fitting soundtrack and action , it was the complete package , the original re2 had a really creepy enviroment and sound FX

I loved playing re6 yes it has its problems but I liked it due to the 7 playable characters, varied game modes and not to mention the best music on a menu screen I have ever seen. And Re6 is one of my first resident evil games that I played thru to completion.

As a guy who loves Resident Evil i had the best time with 6, the sexy and gorgeous Leon was what sold me on the game but i love the sexy Chris too. the action and just pure escapism of this game made it a blast to play. This was like a action movie/horror game and i like that Resident Evil is not afraid to try different things and this was for them different and it keeps things from getting predictable.
I honestly do not recall them saying that about RE6. They did say it about RE7 in a recent interview, specifying that they listened to the fans.

Bradman Reuter You clearly didn't understand the conversation. RE4 was not an action fest and that is regarded by many as the best Resident Evil game of all time and even the best game of all time. Some action is good. No Resident Evil game has had no action. But when they turn into action fests, they become something that is not Resident Evil. Which is why 5 & 6 are regarded as two of the worst in the series by most. Revelations 2 had action, but also a really good mix of what Resident Evil used to be, thus, it was well received. 6 wasn't sure what it wanted to be.

This pretty much sums up how I feel about this game except the part he said about the puzzles in Ada's campaign. He should have said puzzle as I only recall there being one in that entire campaign. Good puzzle though.
Really well though out review. I think the points he made are completely valid. I've been playing the game on PC with my friend and we're loving it. It's a great game even though it doesn't have as many frightening moments as I was hoping for. If anyone is on the fence on deciding whether or not to pick this game up; I'd say go for it. It's like $20 now.
For $20 bucks Resident evil 6 is a fun game, a must pick up
The only thing scary about the RE series (pre-5) was overcoming the horrendous controls.

The sense of urgency to stay alive defines "survival" and for "horror" everyone's different. Some people can get spooked easily while others don't, and jump scare gets old really fast.
Enjoyed RE5 and 6 more than the others, love action more than horror.
I recently bought RE 6.
And what I thought about the game? That is a great game...for who aren't a big fan of the Resident Evil games.
Even I played all Resident Evil games (at least the most known ones), I'm not personally a huge fan of RE, and I prefer the action REs (like RE 4) than the horror ones.
So I can say that I think Resident Evil 6 is a brilliant game, mainly because the idea of three different kinds of game in only one. But it's not a very good game, just because it's a Resident Evil game, and killed all the essence of this game series.

I only played the demo of this game when it came out. I don't know if I will ever play the full game or at least Leon's campaign.
Come on Capcom, you can make the A.I in street fight superb fighters, but you can't teach them how to wield a gun in Resident Evil 6.

Yes it does sucks, I've played since resident evil 1 and 0 and it was all only good till 4, since they changed the camera style at 4, in 5 and 6 its pretty much become an action based game. It's sad it's fallen apart.

Or have this: Have a team (all the original RE people) And let them into an area. Have them split up and tackle the place seperate ex: Chris, Jake, Sherry go upstairs and use a more face paced action sequence type style and take out more enemies while Leon, Claire, Jill and so on tackle the basement areas with more of a slow paced horror type style. Have them meet up and help each other every now and then. And then have them team up to take out the final boss/area.
I love how no one ever gives games a chance. They see that ign gave something a 5 and figured its shit. Makes it great for people like me who don't trust any reviews because then I try great games that no one else knows about.

jamstrings100 it isnt underrated.the controls are poor, they have too much unnecessary quick time events, the game isn't balanced, why the hell do you punch in all campaigns when you are suppose to survive with ammo, some of the worst designs in a resident evil series, some of the bosses sucked, it was uncoordinated said capcom themselves because there were multiple teams and not many leaders, its a mess that doesnt know what genre it is. the game deserved the score this is the worst resident evil game in the whole main series. even re5 is better. yes.
***** When games like the first Assassin's Creed are given 9/10s across the board, I find it unfair that a game I actually thought was more fun i.e. RE6 could be slammed so much. It really wasn't that bad. Parts of RE6 felt a little broken, but it was still a fun, enjoyable experience. I do think Capcom need to dial the action back a tad though and try to get back to the roots of the series.
