"Roaming the streets of Resident Evil Village is like visiting a disturbing and deadly Disneyland, where every attraction is a house of horrors. I got just as big a thrill out of revelling in its frenzied violence as I did retracing my steps through the gradually revealed recesses of its sizable village setting to uncover the darkest story secrets of its monstrous main cast. Boss fights are a bit of a letdown but the great variety of enemies throughout keeps things tense, especially on Hardcore mode. The fact that it's very much a throwback to the fast-paced action of Resident Evil 4 also means it largely takes a step back from the slow-burn scares of Resident Evil 7's excellent opening hours, which may well disappoint those who prefer more psychological dread to blowing off heads. But if you have an itch for action-heavy survival-horror, then Resident Evil Village will scratch it like a fistfull of Lady Dimitrescu's freakish fingernails." - Hry

How? The puzzles are so simple,this game is all looks no substance
after playing this game 3 times, it’s a 9/10. the way that each of the 4 lords is a different type of horror (dimitrescu and her daughters is the fear of helplessness, beneviento is phycological fear, knowing that something is coming but not knowing when, moreau is the biological body fear, with the pus and goo everywhere, and karl is the frankensteins army kinda fear) the enemies have variety, the story is AMAZING, especially the reveal at the end. great game

@@round105 Yeah, but the enemies drop ammo in RE4 in RE8 they drop treasure which you can use to buy ammo. Also you have to be a real dumbass if you run out of ammo in RE4.
If the merchant would sell bullets, he wouldn't own stacks of ammo

My favorite RE since 4 easily. 7 set a great template for what a first person RE experience could be despite being boring at times but this one kind of went the route of 4 and cranked the crazy up to 11. It still managed to stay in a realm of possibility more believable than even Leon being able to complete his insane mission in 4(especially when you take Ethan’s regeneration plot armor). All in all it was worth the wait. Glad to see my favorite series back on track.

Funny how Capcom keeps going back and forth between horror and action. It's like Homer Simpson's scale when he's trying to lose weight.
The devs want to make a horror game but the executives say it won’t sell to the masses without mindless shooting.

It’s disappointing. Making it first person doesn’t help. Might as well be called call of resident evil. Its embarrassing they call this game a survival horror. It’s basically an open world rpg. It just isn’t what it used to be. Resident evil 2 is still the best in my opinion.

Definitely game of the year for me. Very similar to RE7 in terms of gameplay mechanics and has a flavor of RE4 added to it. If you enjoyed playing either of those, get this game.

Great video as always. It is interesting to see how Resident Evil has evolved over the years. Starting from humble beginnings with tank controls. Then, a third person perspective. Now a first person perspective. What a roller coaster ride 👍
Resident Evil Survivor on PS1 had a first person perspective, over 20 years ago. It was an awful game, but still….you left that one out.
Anybody else just realize Heisenberg literally looks like something straight out of Bloodborne? His clothing, sunglasses, weapon and the fact that he turns into a werewolf makes it seem like he just crossed over into the resident evil world.

The game is brilliant it has a lot of scares and a descent amount of action to balance it. It is much bigger in scale than 7 so its logical to have more action. It successfully pays homage to four tylee of horror Lady D is victorian vampire Beneviento is poltergeist type horror moreu is lovecraftian style aquatic and karl is Frankenstein steampunk type . A lot of work went into this game and its variety is amazing 9.5/10 easily

Based on a rural theme, the Roaming the streets of Resident Evil Village is some fine graphical production.
Expectations for games are all to high now. Just 5 years ago this would have probably been a 10 for sure
a 10 means the game is literally flawless, no game deserved that. Also of course expectations of video games rise as time goes on, that’s how it works

Resident evil 8 is atleast 9/10 or 9.5/10. Great game worthy for horror game of the year. Can’t believe the variety and how huge this game is. It makes me feel my money was well spent. Only other game this caliber next is ratchet and clank and horizon 2.

Anyone who’s play a resident evil game in the past 20 years could have guessed Capcom would continue the trend of “shoot boss in big glowy spots”.
This was a fantastic game. The horror theme surrounding the game are horrors of fatherhood. Lady D is meant to represent the draining of a father in a marriage. Donna Beneviento represents the fears of having a child, attached to the resentments that come from having to be a parent (DB literally says it would be better if Rose was never born). Salvatore Moreau is representative of masculine insecurity, selfish/greed, and gluttony (letting yourself go when married). Heisenberg is representative of masculine pride, arrogance, and being “trapped” in a job occupation. His stage is a factory, mass producing your enemies. Lastly, Mother Miranda is representative of a possessive partner. A woman who literally wants to steal her husbands child, rebrand them as a missing part of themselves, and literally infect them with wrong ideas of themselves and the world. EXCEPTIONAL STORYTELLING IN A HORROR GAME!!
I'm sorry IGN, but u f***ed another review. This game is a 10/10 gem.
Don't worry, there will likely be some fan service DLC where you play as one of Lady D's Servants.

But as a Resident Evil game, it felt more like a kin to Silent Hill than a Biological Monstrosity apolocalypse. Idk, maybe I'm just too use to Zombies, Mr.X, and other bio terrors.
Action Heavy is a natural progression to a character/game like this, because you cant always be helpless once you survive

@CYB3R2K30 RE2 is definitely not action heavy as much as say RE4 or 6. RE2 you have to actually survive and manage. Zombies take 20 bullets to be taken down. RE Village lost its survival horror identity the series is known for. This is just re4 with first person. Majority of them action? No thats the hole in your argument because RE1, RE2, original re3, REmake,Remake2, Code Veronica, 0 are all survival horror not focused on action

The first game ends in an explosion, the second game starts with explosions, and throws way more enemies at you. The third starts witb an explosion, has an explosion at its midpoint, and endpoint, and has a dude chasing you most of the time, loosened up the controls to allow for more.... actions... made you fight more zombies again.... then the "action" trilogy of the series happened. RE has always had a progression of action. Including the ones people hold so dear. The opening of code veronica is pulled right out of an action movie, and the chris v wesker fight is a damn anime action scene. Come on dude....

My favorite Resident Evil experiences are in third person. They definitely needed to ditch the tank controls but the first person perspective, makes it feel "Wrong" for me. I'm looking forward to 3rd person remakes for RE1 (they can do this one last) , RE5 (will be insane just like 4) , and maybe RE6 (they started losing me there)
This game easily has the best night vision gameplay I've ever seen wish the whole game was able to play it that way

Wouldn't call it a Masterpiece. The game is too short, The boss difficulty is meh, and The game is always jumping in-between the lines of Action and Horror, therefore the game also lacks consistency. It deserves the 8/10

@@Tiger_man81 Nah. RE4 was 12+ hrs at best and It was actually fun with some difficulty within some levels. The way Capcom has issues staying consistent with the franchise speaks volumes about the game itself.
