Did all that nerfing just to overflow Hunter's cups lol. It's funny because they even nerfed being able to use a knee (which is mostly used for movement tech anyway) and hunters have Combination flow. I'd like to see Bungie get creative when making Titans. I'd also like to see them lean into Titan's having a bigger affinity to heavy weapons and more creativity with barricades. Arbor Warden & Hoarfrost should make the barricade twice as wide, and twice as strong. Make them focus on zoning. AT LEAST.

@Kuhmodo it'd be really neat if Titans built up their own near infinite battle frenzy of sorts. Start with okay/acceptable dps only to have it grow and grow the longer they maintain active combat. Best case is something like increasing percision damage slowly to a plus 500% cap or so after like 30mins of continuous damage output. Ofc make it so the titan has to deal damage once per second to keep ramping the buff or is pauses and starts to decay after 3 secs

Been a Titan main since vanilla D1 (almost exclusively void), and I made that choice because it wasn't some mindless punching class, despite how it may have appeared. It was team support with *some* of the support attached to melee. At that point, Helm of Saint-14 gave extra super energy for *every kill* against minions of the darkness (a perk which didn't even make it to the D1 expansions), Ward of Dawn could generate more orbs the more damage it took, and Defensive Strike gave reload speed and overshield to teammates in addition to generating orbs on every melee kill while the overshield was active. To me, it seemed clear the point was to get super, post up in the middle of the enemies, and melee anything that came close while drawing fire from ranged enemies to generate enough orbs for teammates to clear everything else in the area with their flashy supers. For Crota's End, I found myself using Ruin Wings so that I could ensure everyone had sufficient heavy ammo (despite this being largely irrelevant because of Heavy Ammo Synthesis). Nothing about this playstyle remains in D2, and the closest thing to support still on the class is Banner of War and Into the Fray, which is, in effect, nothing more than damage resistance and periodic healing, only occasionally being useful as a sword damage increase for teammates.
And look, it doesn't need to be support or even a top dps option, but Titans need *something, anything* that can be used from more than 10m away with a meaningful impact on the fight, *or* some better means of surviving in close quarters on the other subclasses. Though with the latter, I'm certain it'd be nerfed within a couple weeks because of Trials.

Watching these Titan videos as a hunter main makes me feel like part of the problem, and honestly, I think we are. Since the dawn of time hunters have always been most important because we take up 99.99% of the player base, forcing the devs to focus on us 1st warlocks 2nd and Titans 3rd. You are doing big work by putting these videos out and showing the injustice that titans have faced ever since the concept of their character was made and hopefully getting enough attention to one day alert bungie, big ups guardian.

Tbf, titans currently are experiencing what hunters where before the 3.0 subclasses.
Back then the meta identity of hunters where agility (which was completely useless in pve) and a support invis build that had some usefulness but was largely overshadowed by well and banner shield, and they were almost if not completely useless in dps phases as tcrash titans where the highest dps in that time and tether was completely useless because of div and artificat mods. Their add clear builds with stasis and shadow shot where also overshadowed by stasis warlock and chaos reach.
The reason why titans where used a lot back then was because they had things that where effective that wasn't just punching (abbeyant leap, tcrash, banner sheild and bubble, arc hoil, etc.).
They just need to add stuff to titans that are powerful to make them fit into the meta, but also balanced.

First: that is not true. As a hunter main, we weren't always the broken ones. Yes we are popular but NO are inherent popularity SHOULDN'T be the problem. Anyhow, main issue to me is that still hunt exists for long range bosses and prismatic hunter exists for close range bosses.
I think the only way to nerf still hunt properly is to make it a heavy weapon or to make it lose its interaction with nighthawk. QoL won't matter as proper nerfs to damage.
Second, titans are in a weird spot currently because prism titan is dominating crucible super hard. Every day I start thinking more and more that titan is the pvp class. I also think that they seem to do the best in soloing certain content. Regardless, I am no fool, they need more options.
I think unbreakable was their attempt to start leaning titans towards being the tank. The other aspects for light (and eventually dark abilities and supers) should do the same (and much better). I want to feel like titans can be a force and a hard wall that can protect me.
Maybe give them an aspect that can jump to an Ally or a point they create and give them and allies a defensive buff. Make this buff certain weapons that make sense to incentivize watching your team. Give them a super that creates this cage and pulls everything near inside the cage and the enemies can't leave the cage (like a reversed bubble) and they focus you. I believe this works best as a strand super with aspects that support a cage like fighting style (obviously add subclass synergies).
There are so many ways to take titan, but I feel like saying "man hunters are the problem, we are too good" ain't it. It's not the fact that we are better, but instead, it's the fact titans are not good enough.
(Btw this isn't to say still hunt and some prism synergy for punching shouldn't be addressed)

One thing I thought about the other day was why not give titans an exotic or super that's essentially just a heavy ammo crate that also gives a decent chunk of super energy? How many times have we all gone into a damage phase with not enough ammo because we were too lazy to spend 10 minutes farming adds to get enough ammo/Super? I could definitely see raid teams wanting a titan along just to keep everyone stocked up on ammo.

Honestly it’s crazy how different titans are in lore vs gameplay. Lorewise, Titans are THE gigachads of the guardians, just look at Saint, Shaxx, or Zavala. Titans are the wall. They are the Shield and Spear of the last city, the first to act, protect, and or ravage the enemy lines. The order of the sunbreakers literally held off the Red Legion for multiple days while lightless to protect fleeing civilians. Saint spent years terrorizing the Fallen then later the Vex(the later being all by himself, mind you.)
Meanwhile in gameplay, titans are the weakest class. everything they can do good, the other classes do better. Melee/add clear build? Hunters. DPS? Hunters. Support? Warlocks. Don’t even get me started on prismatic Titan and how the only good build is 3x consecration with severance + contact which ends up falling off the deep end in anything harder than a normal mode dungeon/raid. The punching gimmick lost its allure to me once berserker came out, and it was already fading when behemoth was a thing.

The Unbreakable aspect is a good start at letting Titans be more.. Titan-y, but it 100% needs a buff and some tweaks. The idea behind it is perfect though, imo.. pull up a shield and run in front of your team letting you be a front line tank for a few seconds, but it should also aggro enemies within a cone in front of you, which in turn makes Ursa/spirit of the bear better since you will be forcing enemies to attack you, letting you gain more super energy. It should also provide overshield for nearby teammates when it ends. And lastly it should be tied to class ability (barricade) instead of grenade. I know it does damage, but we are talking about an aspect here, not a fragment, so it SHOULD be strong. It also gives us additional ways to use barricade, which we desperately need. It gives us more synergy with void too since void breaches let us get our class ability back quicker. And also it just makes sense.. our barricade is a shield, so let us have an aspect that augments the barricade and lets us have a short, mobile version of it.

Warlocks would be the debuff class specialising in spreading volitile, scorch, jolt, unravell, sever and freeze. Then Titans would be the team buffers, giving things like Restoration, Radiant, Overshield, Amplified, Frost armour, Woven Main. Before Light 3.0, Titans exclusively had Flashbang and Suppressor grenades. Each of the light shoulder charges had the corresponding debuff(and melting point) attached as well, making the maneuver high risk, but rewarding; frenzy blades too, with sever. It would make sense for the frontliner class to have consistent means of locking down opposing heavy hitters while they clear the fodder. Show that Titans as a whole are the tactical minds of the vanguard. It's not just our own defense buff and punching, it's making them unable to punch back.

I’m a Hunter main but Titan needs the love man. If we want to lean further into that soldier/tank fantasy, why not give the Titan a combo ability on Void that lets you slam the axe on your shield and that can directly take agro from ads or even mini bosses to give your teammates a reprieve from combat or something? BoW could also have an ability that really leans into the “Berserker” fantasy that allows the Titan to strike fear into the enemy with a War cry. Have Arc stay as the full frontal assault class but give them an aspect that rewards weapon damage over melee damage. Solar could be the subclass that allows you to ‘forge’ buffs and abilities that assist your allies and Stasis can be the subclass that allows you to literally build the Wall that the entire Titan identity is based on (new super, aspect, abilities, etc.).

I would love titans (at every subclass) to consume some ability (or super) to create a pick-up that just gives a long lasting buff to weapons to give an element-specific buff like volatile, scorch, slow, jolt, etc. Kinda inspired by Warlocks' ability to create a Buddy/Soul of basically every element (except Strand).
Actium War Rig/Peacekeepers could be instead changed to encompass a wide range of weapons (instead of just fucking rifles/lmgs/smgs).

I think void overshields should either increase from 45HP to 100HP OS or its damage resist from 50% to like 75%. Also I agree that it shouldn't go away with time. It should only be damaged off of you (or maybe go away after like 1min or something). Even with that it would still be outlcassed by Devour, Restoration, Woven Mail, and Frost Armor, so I think it should also reduce the length of time enemy debuffs last on you (not bosses). So slow, freeze, suspend and that damn tinitus would only last 2 seconds or something.
2:36 On this note, it would also be cool if titans had an exotic that could share some of these survivability buffs with nearby teammates, perhaps on class ability usage. "You and allies near you gain - whatever Elemental buff is tied to your current subclass (or super on prismatic) - for 5s seconds". So that would be Void OS (with the buffs), Restoration, Woven Mail, and Frost Armor (and I guess amplified too but that doesn't really help survivability much so whatever). This already makes sense since titans using class ability already gives some buffs on the right subclass with Bastion aspect, Abeyant Leap, and Loreley.
To account for this change, Loreley should go back to giving Resto x 2 since they made it x1 and then nerfed both x1 and x2. Also there could be some special interaction with bastion and Abeyant Leap, maybe giving it for 10s instead of just 5s.
Titan is not my main and still probably won't be even with changes like this but if it's not the best at SOMETHING (aside from strand survivability or 1 2 punch stuff), I won't have a reason to want to play it, which sucks

Also, remember when all of our Light Subclasses had Weapon Damage Buffs Built into them? Sentinel had Weapons of Light with two Supers; Sunbreaker had the buff currently known as Radiant attached to Sun Warrior (and thusly Sunspots); and Striker had Inertial Override (Slide over ammo brick to reload, get weapon stat buffs, and a damage buff, this was turned into Spark of Momentum and the damage buff was removed. I believe there was also a perk on Code of the Missile that proc'd Inertial Override when you got a kill with Ballistic Slam and Thundercrash) and Frontal Assault (the same but it was the charged melee and could be infinitely looped with Knockout and Insurmountable Skullfort, this was turned into Spark of Frequency and had a complete rework so that melee hits increased reload speed for a short duration. So, no instant reload, weapon stat buff, and damage buff). Then Subclass 3.0 came out and the only one we kept was Weapons of Light, but that got nerfed on its original source (Ward of Dawn) and remained unchanged on Banner Shield (something that no one ever shoots through)... Which has now been moved to Helm of Saint-14 on Ward of Dawn so for buffs that are built into the Subclasses we have: Weapons of Light on Banner Shield (that no one shoots through) and Radiant on Powered Melee Hits (that everyone has access to)... Just look at how far we've fallen.

no backup plans is one of the only titan exotics i use and here are some reworks id love to see:
overshield is too weak, so buff it at base and have shotgun kills give you an increasing resistance value and multikills increase the total health of your overshield (to a cap of around double its original health). The damage buff and resists gained from a shield lingers for a few seconds when the overshield is depleted.
Killing powerful enemies generate an orb of power, and shotguns are strong against unstoppable champions
On other subclasses we keep the damage resist on kills but drop the overshield and turn that into weapon synergy.
Arc subclass when amplified blinds nearby targets on kill, solar scorches with restoration buff, strand severs with woven mail buff, stasis creates a large crystal with frost armor buff. These will have about 3.5 second cooldown before being able to be activated again, and you need to use a matching element. Also, kinetic weapon final blows will trigger a kinetic tremor.
Lastly, when the subclass buff is active, your shotguns have extremely high handling, and ammo reserves are increased

I've been a titan since day 1 d2, and the most unique aspect we've ever gotten is unbreakable. I LOVE this ability, I've used it to save allies and guarantee revives. It really filled the "tanky soldier" build, and combined hazardous propulsion feeds into the heavy tank archetype. We need more things like that. I've been using spirit of the bear/star eater on my class item for chunky void axes but I really want a bear/scars for the true tank soldier feeling. Titans should be the last to die in a fireteam and be able to survive running through heavy fire to get a revive or hold down an objective. Split the options for titan. Give them melee focused tank builds and weapon/grenade focused ranged builds that buff allies. When I played wow, things like intervene to absorb the next hit an ally takes, or hand of protection to fully protect an ally really filled that tank role of "you aren't dying on my watch" and that's always been the class fantasy of Titan to me. A bulky, heavy armored tank that wades through everything with a middle finger up and protects their fireteam. Not whatever the fuck we have currently. I won't stop playing my titan but I won't be attempting gms or master dungeons until something changes. I really think Bungie should look at barricade identity more as well as heavy weapons. Bungie should do this with the barricade exotics:
Arbor Warden - Doubles the width, strength, and duration of the barrinade. Standing nearby grants a DEBUFF to enemies depending on the subclass of the grenade (Strand - Sever, Stasis - Slow, Arc - Blind, Void - Weaken, Solar - Scorch)
Hoarfrost - Crystals are harder for enemies to break, easier for you to break. Shatter radius is increased and deadlier. Allies standing near crystal barricade gain frost armor over time.
Citan Ramparts - Final blows through barricade heal the barricade and extend duration of barricade
Icefall Mantle - Activating Icefall Mantle drops 2 coldsnaps from the Titan. Kills restore mobility in a stacking bonus. When in proximity, allies get stacks of frost armor

Warlocks are Pyromancers, Storm Wizards, traditional Warlocks, Ice Mages, and Summoners.
Hunters are Gunslingers, Monks, Trappers, Ninjas, and Reapers.
Titans are just titans with different blunt objects. Bungie really needs to give each subclass a unique identity and fantasy people can clearly see.

It's funny you mention reloading. Titan rally barricade used to provide instant reload when you crouched behind it. So you wanted a titan for dps because they would run up drop and rally barricade and everyone would "rally" behind it and go to town with heavy weapons. It was part of what made the Mountaintop so broken. So they nerfed it. As for other ideas, I think a basic quick to implement fix would be to let the titan class ability grant damage reduction buff to everyone near it that lingers for a few seconds after you leave or the barrier gets destroyed. Set it up so you can adjust the DR separately for PVE and PVP so over performance in one doesn't result in a nerf to the other. Also, the bigger the barricade the greater the amount of damage resistance so you have a reason to use the tower barricade over the rally barricade.

Some of my favourite moments were when Banner shield was used and just getting to pull the "I AM THE DEFENSE" card while the team rallied behind you to do damage. I mostly only play PvE and that's the Pov I'm writing from.
Titan from a thematic standpoint has so many different approaches they could take and I wish they'd give us more than "Punch". Heck, one thing I wished we had (and we kind of got it with the chest exotic), was a almost shoulder mounted or 'backpack' weapon that replaced an ability (railcannon/Rocket) but I'd love for Titans to maybe fall into a mix of Soldier and tank, like give us the ability to draw enemy attention and while we do so, spread buffs to weapons or even ability energy. (Mask of the quiet one but maybe an aura?)
Maybe not damage but maybe other effects like reload speed or heck, even a small aura of a War Rig effect for allies. I'd just love to be able to do something that makes me actually feel useful to my team-mates other than "I melee'd and killed some stuff.
Or, if Warlock gets to have little buddies, give the Titan the ability to have a ranged weapon drop. (Like the new Void Axe super, but it calls in a thematic weapon like minigun or mounted turret or something idk. Let me have a Heavy Bolter or something from Warhammer)

    Call me the lost one,
I'm a titan main and I promise you that as soon as the throwing hammer got it's nerf in the mid-late lightfall year, we lost our last ability making titan the front line. Banner helped...sorta. But look at the prismatic aspects on titan. Almost every other possible choice for any of the subclasses was a better choice. The only exceptions I can think of are touch of thunder, and cryoclasm.
Given the correct aspects, Titan would be THE immovable object. Roaring flames or sol invictus, match with tectonic harvest, into the fray, it doesn't have to be banner. Give us juggernaut, bastion or off- bulwark even. ANYTHING but what we were given. Warlocks got feed the void, Hunters got stylish executioner, and titans got a tractor cannon melee that consumes grenade. Warlocks got a solar buddy that applies 40 scorch every shot, that gets summoned off their class ability, hunters have gunpowder gamble, titans got consecration...you know, the giant fire slam everybody doesn't use because both other solar aspects keep you alive. My main build for prismatic is a build using Mask of the Quiet One because survivability is such a problem. None of our stuff gives damage resist, none of our stuff gives healing, none of our stuff even gives overshield? The one 'facet' that grants a defensive buff on orb pickup is on all classes, and takes all unique survivability out of the class.

  • @VenomPureEvil

    I'll fix titan right now.
Bubble now gives unravel, volatile, scorch, jolt, slow, and kinetic tremors to their respective weapon damage types. Whenever the titan gets an overshield he gives overshields to nearby teammates and the titan gets volatile rounds.
Fix the atrocious throwing shield tracking.
Strand ability kills always give unravel and sever. While titan has wovenmail his strand weapon damage makes strandlings. Remove the ranged cooldown from the super and its now a juiced version of fletchetted storm.
While amplified all arc weapon kills blind and extend the amplified timer. All jolt kills explode into pools of arc that collect orbs an ammo assuming you aren't full.
Solar sunspots reload your weapons when you walk in and out of them. Sunspots apply meltingpoint to enemies and escalating scorch stacks based on how many sunspots are on a single target. Roaring flames gives handling and reload based on how many stacks you have. Reverse throwing hammer nerf.
Stasis melee is replaced with bubble sized aeo that slows enemies and also shatters crystals. The melee is also replaced in the super with a massive radius that shatters crystals and slows. Getting kills with the melee refunds half the melee. Diamond lance freezes also make a crystal. Breaking crystals with the barricade grants frost armor based on how many you broke.

Honestly for me, Like Prismatic was fun...kinda? I mean I love Void Arsenal, plenty of neat things there, but it still falls into the same issue that if a Boss is floating over the edge, I can't use it for DPS cause I will lose half the effect of the weapon because myself or raid party members cannot pick up the axes to fling at a boss. It still falls heavily into the realm of the melee world and lacks the overall mobility and variety of function to be viable in highier tier raid content. Sure I can clear a room better than a Number 1 Burrito with extra Fire sauce. But when was the last time someone said " Whoa, check out that Kill count, nice job" While your also bottom of the dps chart?

@@PocketTuna THe Titan was meant to be a Warrior, Each Subclass I feel can represent a different kind of warrior. Take Void for example, Calling it the Void Knight. Add a void one handed sword to the Sentinel that allows them to attack n do damage, building up a power, or using the shield to protect and move the party. When enough damage is dealt, or absorbed by the shield, you can finish the super with a single heavy melee or shield explosion. Make it worth being that front liner who can take the damage. Reward them for being tough enough to do so.
I would love to use Sweet Business and Actium War Rig, but as bungie put out, they want a more ability focused gameplay with this, so buffing myself to be good with an Auto Rifle like SB or a Machine gun is pointless. Thus far I have been stuck on Skullfort because of the Synergy it brings from Prismatic where I spam Thunderclap over n over, but that's just add clear. Soon as something with some meat comes around, the power fantasy dies.

So the obvious solution for how to 'fix' Titan, without doing a fundamental, ground-up redesign of the entire class and its underlying philosophy, is to make them vastly tankier than other classes, and I can think of a few ways to do it. The first and most obvious is to focus on class primary stats and make that more of a thing. For example, have Mobility give Hunters an extra 2-30% (using the same scale as Resilience DR) sprint and reload speed, Recovery gives Warlocks 2-30%, and then _only_ Titans get Resilience DR. This would necessitate a gamewide rebalance of base incoming/outgoing damage and healing values, but it would make very clear distinctions in playstyle and gearing choices and let Titans actually be the tanky bastards that are near-impossible to put down.
The other, somehow less extreme option is to simply give Titans a passive, class-wide resistance to both damage and knockback from boss stomps and similar "punish the melee" sources, which would allow Titans to actually engage in melee in relevant content and not just get immediately obliterated by everything. I'm not entirely sure how well this would work, but I think this plus not releasing encounters specifically designed around telling Titans to go fuck themselves would go a long way to alleviating the worst of the issues.
Also, on an only somewhat related note, IMO the way to fix Void overshield is to give it a set minimum value that it cannot go below, until the time runs out and it falls off. For example, if you use Bastion you get a full 200 point overshield, so we should set the minimum at, say, 15. So the first 185 damage you take is fully absorbed by the shield, leaving your shield at 15 and your health takes 0 damage. Then you take another 10 damage from a shot; this does 10 damage to you, but you have the shield of 15 left, so that absorbs the hit. However, since hte minimum is 15, that means the shield remains at 15 and your health takes 0 damage. Then a 40 damage hit comes in, the shield absorbs 15 of it, which means 25 damage is dealt to your health. However, you still have a shield worth 15 points remaining, and that carries over for hte full duration of the overshield. Every hit you take at that point, once the shield has hit the minimum, effectively is reduced by that minimum damage value, and the Titan gets the full benefit of having a void overshield for that whole window. I think this would make Overshield not nearly as good as Woven Mail or even Frost Armor, as it doesn't scale with incoming damage the way % DRs do, but it would put it in the same ballpark for survivability and make sure that there's _some_ value attached to it on every level of difficulty.

I just got into D2 as I dropped D1 back in 2014 because it was honestly clunky and a bit boring compared to Warframe at the time. 5.7k hours of Warframe later I'm getting into D1.
Much to my regret, my dumbass self picked Titan as the power fantasy of relentless Juggernaut is something I love. Ok dps, some niche utility, best in game durability, the skillset to push an advance or bunker down a location. All of this was my hope for this class. As a WF vet I should've know better and done a wiki deep dive with a touch of r/ lurking to make an informed decision. I transitioned from being Rhino, Chroma, Nidus, Revnant, Hildryn, Protea, and Zephyr to playing as a roll of 1ply toilet paper armed with a paintball gun, potato launcher, and bouncy balls as pretend grenades. Tbh IMO D2 needs to strongly, seriously, consider stealing kit design from the Warframes mentioned. I don't necessarily want copy pasta because WF should be WF and D2 should be D2 but, ffs imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and the Titan class feels so one dimensional that as soon as I hit 2k light I'm hopping ship to my old D1 main of Warlock.

They can also make it so it doesn't apply.much healing or DR to the Fireteam but the titan themselves can have good DR and possibly healing. Just make it worth using.

As a Titan main Titan exotics feel very lackluster compared the other 2 classes. OEM for example needs to be reverted to it's pre-nerf state. Why? Currently Knucklehead radar doing what OEM does but better apart from getting instant health regen and overshield by ADSing and not just on a single target but everyone in your FoV and with the added bonus of dealing increased damage to unshielded targets (critically wounded guardians in PvP) making it one of the most busted Hunter exotics in PvP as it's legal wallhacks.

We need more "hold the line" exotics and perks. Unbreakable is definitely a start but it is far to weak currently. If someone is killed and needs revived, the tank class should be the one to get them, but unless you're using something like strongholds, we have just as much likelihood of dying in the process of getting them. They gutted bubble at the same time as well and Banner Shield doesn't last nearly as long as it should unless you're using Ursas. Give us a class exclusive shield exotic weapon, something.

Warlocks can get an improved Restoration, spawn more threadlings, and even unravel with threadlings. Meanwhile, Titans have way too few aspects with 3.0 verbs and gain very little for applying them with some decent uptime or gameplay loop like hunters being able to get their melee back on strand which severs enemies and creates a tangle to then turn that into a whirly dirly which then unravels more enemies and can create another tangle and on and on it goes.

So, from what I've noticed, Titans also have one other big problem, which is ability looping. We can't. Warlocks shit out 5000 abilities with no effort. Hunters have it literally built-in with their dodge melee refund. And Titans... have one exotic that is okay at it. That's it. Why? None of our abilities are actually all that scary. What, are they worried that shield throw might hit something if we throw it enough times?
We also have some exotics that are subclass locked for no reason (no backup plans having different visual effects depending on subclass but being locked to void is the big one here) but that's small potatoes.

Let our subclass synergy give us like a constant 90% damage reducing, no matter what subclasd were using but make the tradeoff something like we do less damage overall then other classes. Give titans a hero type feeling where we may not get the killing blow, but at kept the boss from getting one as well and let our warlocks buff our hunters to output as much damage as fast as possible.

Warlock has health regen skills and great crowd add clear. Hunter has invis and add clear too. Titans should be different but be just as important. A Titan should have massive damage resistance and high single target burst damage. It’s really that simple. You play titan because you either want to be the guy who stares down the biggest threat and laughs in its face while your squishy fireteam does what they need to do or you want to be the guy who bashes through hoards of enemies to nuke the commander just because you can.
