- Paul shows how to make the patterns and jigs for a 12m 4v geodesic dome. Also he shows making the frames, base and windows ready for covering. This is part 1 of 2 next covering with polythene and building the dome.

I wish my dome was this sturdy. Having massive problems and after I saw your videos I can see why. I hired someone to build mine and after a year frame collapsing and extra strength poly ripping away. Nice to see such incredible care taken in your work. Thank you for your post.
I must remember to check and se if you now have a workshop in a dome since you are so skilled in making them.
Thanks for your advice with the saw, you are all quite right I should take more care, just one of those days when I couldn't find the push stick. I will be sure to not do this again.
keep up the good work...very inspiring. I would suggest using the table saw fence for cutting the 2x4's...had a few friends recently tear up their hands on the table saw. They've done it a thousand times before but it just took one mistake and now one of them lost the use of 2 fingers. I'd hate for that to happen to you, especially with all the time and effort your putting into these videos and teaching about the dome setups. God bless.
Thank you for the video. Very instructive and entertainnig.
Only have 8 section left and my dome will be up. Your videos are great.
Matthew Gorham Great, send me a picture when your done, I will upload more of this dome I have some really nice pictures of it finished. (and video)
Le maestro des dômes ....
👏😊
Hello, would it be possible to find your plan of measurements of the design of your rooms because I would be very interested in making myself a dome cabin, it would be very appreciated
Good job ! Well made ; I am able to understand it so clearly that I just need to do it.
I will start pretty soon !
Thank you so much for your explanations (it seems so easy ... LOL)
when you are half way done cutting on the table saw, then move to the other side and pull the wood to do the rest of the cut, this way you have more control and don't have to get close to the blade..
Great work, what the angle of the bevel ? there a calculation formule ?
Hey I saw a video of you on top of a 12 Meter or 40' Geodesic dome and it had the standard triangles not the large ones your showing how to make here. Where can I get the 40' plan for the ones with the standard triangle in the USA measurement? I really need that super bad. In fact if I could build that with even smaller triangles for the 40' like the longest length on the triangles is no more than 2' you would make a happy camper out of me? Is that possible? I have not found a calculator for domes that will allow me to have small triangles using 2"x4" US sizes which are actually smaller thickness and widths than that. You already mentioned it in other video's. But this size you show here for the standard size is perfect and that is the size I saw a picture of you climbing up on with a rope attached to a metal center pole in the middle of the top of the Dome. It looked like a beautiful dome with what looked like 2"x4" wood on it. I would have to take a look at your plans to see if they would be what I need. Also if you can make them where I can build this with pallet slats that would be great? I always wanted to try and build it out of scavenged wood like pallets here in the USA. I am a bit of a Environmentalist, kinda? I was thinking of building them with this salvaged frame from pallet slats then use earth bags on the outside of those all the way too the top then back fill the north and half of the west and east sides with dirt up to the top? I don't know if it will work? I might have to do it with 2"x4" or larger? I do not know how much they can take weight wise? I figure the Earthbag's will take the brunt of the load from the back fill? The Wooden Geodesic dome structure just adds to the Earthbag's support while constructing it. Only you know because I do not really know? That is why I am asking you? What do you think? Can it be done?
You can make a jig for the tapered beveled long pieces by simply putting a stopping block on the end of a plywood jig with the angle pre cut into the plywood and use the plywood edge against the table saw fence. It's a lot more accurate and safer.
do you mean instead of angling the blade to 6 degrees or whatever it is?
@@utubeape no, I mean as you look down onto the flat board, draw a line for the desired taper then calculate the difference between the point entering the blade and the fence and the point exiting the fence on the board. with these dimensions you can build a jig with a stopper to push the board through and make multiple cuts exactly the same. It's a lot easier to show than explain.
look it up on CZcams. easily made tapered cuts on the table saw.
@@franciscambron yes I wish I knew because I plan to make a 40ft done and would be ripping down over 100 6 foot lengths of 4 by 2
this is just like your smaller triangles except the dome angle is cut into 2 sides rather than 3 & there are four triangles joined as a unit rather than just three. interesting
Hello, I just bought a set of your plans and I am having problems reading them. IE a nogin is a persons head. is there a way to contact you for help?
Yes, it "admin (at) geo-dome co uk" just at the dots and at symbol. A noggin is like a internal cross brace, any further help just drop me an email
respect! 8-) watch those fingers man 21:00 .. please :-/
Your dome videos are very informative, but that camera bobbing about was giving me vertigo....
Can not hear or understand more than 3 in 10 bloody words
