Thank you Kevin for great topic.
Did anyone try Chemical Guys Silk & Shine Protectant?
Motul shine and go hands down best thing I have found for the black plastics on my GP they still shine like the day I got it off the show room floor this is more of a proactive deal but have seen it restore faded black plastics. Also works great as an engine bay protectant usually hose down the engine bay every 3-4 rides then fog the engine bay with it no rust yet and I ride Texas gulf coast.
Good suggestion!
I use ceramic coating on black plastic, it’s semi permanent(2-3years)and leaves a deep rich black color but not too glossy, it has way better UV protection than any temporary solution, it’s basically like a layer of clear coat
Good to know!
@@watercraftjournal I recommend CarPro Cquartz UK 3.0, easily the best consumer grade ceramic coating, unlike paint surface you need to wipe it off, on plastic surface you just wipe it on and leave it for 24 hours
I use meguiars supreme shine hi gloss protectant on my ultra. The coconut smell is like a tropical island . Or maybe its because i live in western Washington that it works well for me.
That's the one thing about Meguiar's; their stuff smells the best.
My FishPros seat is an odd material, what should I use on it?
No it’s not. It’s vinyl. Use a marine grade vinyl protectant.
I have a new Sea dpp gtr 230. What protectant do you recommend for the vinyl seat?
We've done an article or two on protectants and cleaners at www.watercraftjournal.com
You said you use the Meguiar's Hot Shine Foam on you raw black plastics, but does it have UV protectant? Obviously there is a big difference between making the plastics "look" good and actually protecting them from degradation. My biggest concern is on my 19 FX, the sponson's, as even with the factory cover on, they are exposed to the sun/UV.
It's minor, but yes. There's obviously far better, more dedicated protectants out there. We were just giving an example.
@@watercraftjournal do you have any specific UV protectant you use/recommend?
Nothing that really knocks our socks off.
@@watercraftjournal Have you tried the "Meguiar’s M180132 Extreme Marine Vinyl & Rubber Protectant"? I know Kevin loves Meguiar's.. Was thinking of picking some up as I tend to agree about Meguiar's products!
Use $14 hybrid ceramic by turtle on amazon. Works for me perfectly! Stays on for a couple of months.
Interesting! We'll have to check it out.
Yep, this is my secret weapon... I've tried everything and nothing comes close to hybrid solutions...
i also use hybrid solutions, simple to use and cheap enough to apply often even though it lasts a while.
@theloosemoose8200 which version of the hybrid ceramic?
What should I use on the seat?
XPS Vinyl cleaner/protectant.
Can the plastics be painted so it’s better protected?
Ugh. If you WANT to.
@@watercraftjournal I’d rather not but it seems they are that prone to fade from the video. is this the case with Yamaha too or just sea doo.
SC1 All day !
Very cool!
Have you encountered any issues with damage to the acrylic finish from any exposure to any of the products you’ve discussed?
I know Sea-Doo has cautioned against use of automotive grade products on or around the acrylic finish.
Heavy detergents and caustic chemicals will hurt the finish for sure.
So to sum it up…hot shine tire foam on a rag, put it on everything that’s black and seat? Noted
Yikes, NO. Not the seat. ONLY the black plastics.
WILL waxing with a marine wax that seadoo sell help or not ?
No. Marine wax is for gel coat and there isn’t any gel coat.
Has anyone tired sea doo's vinyl and plastic UV protectant spray?
Yeah, it’s a decent protectant but needs constant applications.
@@watercraftjournal good to know, thank you
Anyone with experience using 303 protectant?
Not yet.
I have been using for years on boats and jet ski. Love the stuff!
Not so guy my 2022 been out my dock cover off 60 days not anything faded oxed or anything but dust . I did it just 2 see and cover on for long periods if on water mold and all ! But im wizard of wax Diamond Detailing i own lol But with that no more then a month Detailed right ! Pwc is my avy great vids n all
Must be shaded isn’t it?
