Though most of the movies I've seen starring Brendan are not great, I like the idea of him coming back, especially now that he's older. He pulls off sad and sweet perfectly. Looking forward to this and Killers of the Flower Moon

It's great that you noticed that the film seemed to be trying really hard to make you cry. Aronofsky recently said in an interview that he wanted to make folks cry because "people don't cry in movies anymore." I actually thought it was a neat goal, and I cry at movies easily. I'm hoping that knowing this about the film going in doesn't kill the authenticity for me.
I can't dislike any of Brendan's performances. I might not like the films themselves, but his performances always make me feel something
Fraser has a warm place in my heart. I really hope this great permoformance is the beggining of a way to unfairly delayed comeback.
I can’t wait to watch this when it’s finally at theaters. I am one of those people excited to see Brendan on the big screen but am genuinely interested in this plot and always am up to check out a Darren Aronofsky film. Usually he releases a hit or miss. Noah wasn’t great but I did like some of the visuals but Mother! was phenomenal. Maybe this’ll be okay

Definitely want to see it, probably won’t spend money on a theater for a meh movie but it feels like a must see performance

Excellent review - but life is too short and there are too many other good films for me to want to watcg the Whale - which is clearly an acquired taste.

I was in the film until the reveal for the binge-eating. I know Aronofsky likes to blend the absurd into the real but it was just so ludicrous to me that I couldn't take the rest of the film seriously.
The acting was great and fraiser was phenominal in it but the film was just lacking. One of Darrons weaker works.
