I feel nightcrawler is underrated in the literally me genre
well its pretty hard to identify with a sociopath like Bloom. most 'literally me' characters are just worn out and jaded, but Bloom's in his element for most of the movie when he's being utterly depraved
facts yo
@@greyghost2492
Lou Bloom is the literal personification of the Sigma Male Grindset
He's a sociopath
@@orangewarm1*sigma path
Correct and that’s why he’s the personification. He lacks the morality so he only sees the grind.
Horrid shit would happen around him and he would just see it as part of the grind. Then add his narcissistic personality plus need to be in control and you got the sigma male aspect
Sigma is made up
Smegma male
i feel like Lou Bloom type of people are everywhere right now. people rather film right now than help people. i broke my leg when i was 13 and i met a guy who was more infatuated in what was captured in a video back when it happened, than what happened to me. he didn't ask me about how i felt, he described it as something sensational
Now that’s the entrepreneur spirit of America 🇺🇸. Facts don’t care for your feelings buddy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, SIGMA GRINDSET 💯
Damn, that makes you lose faith in humanity doesn’t it. I’m sorry that happened to you at that age, hard lesson to learn.
Reminds me of the guy who pretty recently was live-streaming himself by a guy who had just got stabbed at a Starbucks (in front of his little girl) and died, while this guy was live-streaming it all and making O faces and shit. Disgusting. Didn’t try to help, the assailant was still standing nearby and this idiot didn’t think of his own safety even. Just wanted some tiktok clout from showing a man’s last moments while in selfie mode making 😮 faces.
The kind of people you often wish you could Bruce-Lee-one-inch-punch into next week.
Yeah this is why I never get people who unironically relate to lou. They're just as sociopathic as him imo.
That’s a shame
He reminds me of the youtuber collective psyche. There's so many logan paul, mrbeast copycats out there taking advantage of whatever drama or trend there is for short term profit without any concern for the impression left on their audience. It's just everywhere. Everyone has to do all the little things to stimulate the algorithm as much as possible.
Great film, it's still one of Jake Gyllenhaal's best performances.
thank you
Yeah I agree. I’m still partial to Donnie darko but I love seeing a good actor play a bad character. I don’t think I’d even call this one morally grey, he’s just bad.
@@carlshatred931Jake I’m a huge fan of your work! - Ryan gosling alt account
I also think his performance in prisoners is one of his top. I think bc his performance in prisoners is more subtle.
The thing I love about Lou projecting himself as this unconvincing caricature of the 50s or Reaganite up and coming hard worker with a smile and a firm handshake is that it displays how selfish and antisocial that archetype really is in a way no other character has
No, this is more of a dark twist on that archetype as you don’t need to be immoral to be that way.
@@ab-gail Mmm yeah you kinda do. I'm not saying you're a "bad" person if that's something you've taken in but it's a fact that shtick was created to deliberately make American's more atomized and controllable
@@ab-gail read up on Ronald Reagan
I guess you're too young to have been alive when Ronald Reagan saved America and won the Cold War. All you you know about the man is "Reagan bad" from watching TV.
@@manny44 no, all of that is just what Lou **thinks** he is. he wears that archetype like a mask to keep others (particularly the cops) from figuring out his predatory nature
I was very disappointed in this movie. That character didn't teleport anywhere. I kept wondering, "Why isn't he blue?"
Yeah, I feel like they changed up the backstory too much but I still enjoyed the film overall.
I hate you
This film will be a decade old next year. Linear time is wild.
You mean just time?
I love the line "What if it's not that I don't understand people, it's that I just don't like them". To manipulate you have to understand how people work which shows how dangerous he is.
A movie about a man who fully embraces Ayn Rand's philosophy
I already held the belief that this channel is top tier but the inclusion of WKUK assures it
Nightcrawler rules. It was the first screenplay I ever read - it's so succinct, there are like four adjectives in the entire thing, yet the action lines are so poetic. Lou Bloom is, by all screenwriting conventions, exactly who the archetypical underdog should be, but he's absolutely abhorrent. It just rules, man.
Bro Lou bloom was like a creepy awkward guy if you identify with him something is wrong with you
He is me and I am him
We know, We want to be as worse as him
I don't feel like films like this are the same category of film ("literally me") as, say, Taxi Driver. The latter shows how a person of mostly normal spiritual constitution can become an extreme person in some way; the former are more like tragedy biopics that depict a deranged person. The incongruity between the presentation (music, etc.) and the despicable acts depicted create an unsettling feeling not balanced by the passive support and understanding we might feel with Travis Bickle. Ultimately the trend towards films that depict villains not getting a comeuppance (I don't have a name for it but feel that is the genre to which this actually belongs) very quickly died the death it deserved, the cherry on top being that nobody cared enough to even document it like a nightcrawler.
Ultimately, invented, casually applied jargon leads to confusion. If I understand the “literally me” concept, it has to do with being an unlikely hero. These outsider characters prevail in an unconventional way, sometimes bordering on deus ex machina, such as the elevation to hero/icon of Taxi Driver/Joker. The fact that they prevail without conformity is what defines them as “sigma.” At this point, the ad hoc jargon is obfuscating the original theme, being that of recognizable, relatable-to-some outsider, male cinema protagonists.
Based and true
I’ve loved this movie since it’s release I’m so hyped to see it getting the praise it deserves now
Man: *sees the worst character imaginable being portrayed on screen*

This film gave me chills! I get goosebumps just thinking about it. So unsarcastically honest about the mundanity of evil.
such an underrated movie. can't believe it's almost 10yrs old. absolute masterpiece

Sorry about your wife.
Literally watched this movie 12hrs ago. This video couldn't have come at a better time
I love when that happens.
this movie is like Joker in the sense that it's a bit slow and average for the first three quarters, but the climax elevates it. The one issue I have with Nightcrawler is that they show Lou attacking that guy in the first scene: why spoil his inhumanity? That could have been something to save for later.
Jake Gyllenhaal not getting an Oscar nomination for this is obscene
yooo ive actually watched this one before!
finally a kino corner video i dont have to do homework for beforehand
The background information you gave at the start of this video was truly eye opening, amazing work and video! I already loved this movie, but I think I may love it even more now.
OMFG dude I've been waiting for this one
God tier content! Thanks for making me care more about a film I forgot I care about
This is my favorite performance from Jake Gyllenhaal and one of my favorite movies of all time.
What a great video. I remember after I first watched this, it made me feel dirty lol. There are more disturbing films that have really got me of course, but this movie made me want to take a shower. Also, I hated the media before this film.
How do you feel about the media after? And do you think people like Lou bloom are common in our world?
Wow, Kino! I can't believe the amount of effort you put in this video about me. You've done a real fantastic job! You know what they say, you have to film the content to make a video!
Great video and a great insight. Yet another movie to add to the watch list

Will Oppenheimer become a Literally Me movie you think?
I mean the guy did try to kill his teacher with a poisoned apple apparently.
@@HeatherHolt depend on how many relatable info the movie give. There's a story that he left his girl in a car just for him to think but ended up leaving her there since he was already close to home which leaving women alone is literally me
I became so obsessed with the screenplay (how it was written) that I tried to copy that style and thought I could make that (and how Fargo was written) its own little literary-adjacent genre.
But holy cow was it an eye opener on how hard that is!
To this day I constantly go back to those two scripts.

Always loved this and recently re watched it... Three times over three days lol. Def a good movie
This video better get the love it deserves!!
Nice video bro. Can't wait to hear your take on Ken from the Barbie movie.
God damn love this movie
IMO it’s similar to the OnlyFans outbreak. It exists bc there’s a desire for it. As long as people pay, it will exist. And where there’s money, lines will be crossed, like the lady who was breastfeeding and rubbing oil on her and the baby while (mostly)men were paying to watch.
Sounds hot🔥🥵. But for real tho ? Why would you described it in details 😳? lmao.
Overall it’s just a further commodification of human interaction and in this [OnlyFans] case, sex. As society slowly breaking down, you’ll see more of this type of transactional “relationship”. Feeling doom & gloom yet ?…
The problem is perhaps that it's even technically possible for there to be such things as OF.
@@ferreus Are you calling for censorship? Better to have it on a moderated and controlled platform than in some unmonitored forum where it will just devolve further and further, as always happens on the internet.

The movie is so realistic. Lou does terrible things, and gets rewarded for it. By every metric of what society deems as success…he meets them all.

The Kino Corner is literally me
Good video man gg, please can you do a video about Chronicle?
how did you pump this out so fast
But what if Kino, I told you this literally was me. I am Jake Ghyllanhal.
Literally watched this film last night.
It's honestly quite scary that people find it cool to identify with a literal psychopath
I think it's rather sad than scary.
It's not that they actually identify with Lou Bloom, but they which they were like him; it's a power fantasy.
It's thinking about what they could achieve if they're guilt and sense of moral necessity, their fear and their mental suffering was entirely taken from them.
But that's of course missing the point of the movie.
Ayo! Gilroy! I guess that's Tony Gilroy's father or some relative? I love that Tony Gilroy made the andor star wars show!

It's all 1's and 0's in this day and age..... Welcome to the modern world.
Wow i never thought of the Chinese restaurant as a metaphor. the silent capitalist lurking in the dark, watching the world eat itself for their benefit. nice catch
The film is so Meta to Los Angeles … that I got home one day and discovered that ‘Some Film Nightcrawler’ was using MY Chinese Food Place to shoot … 3rd and Western Ave … They Ran those Shots in two night. Fast Like Jackrabbit 😌
You can get in to some really bad shit lose your morale, depression and your whole way of being when it is the narrative controlling you and not the other way around. Unfortunately that is the way life goes nowadays people walking around hollowed out simply walking zombies. But to control the narrative, is to live life, as Unfortunately to few people dare to live. As we were meant to live problems will always be, but to not have them define you that is the truth of living.
An often difficult undertaking, but a pillar of the stoic mindset, I believe. “The ability to let that which does not matter truly slide.” - (To quote my favorite “Literally Me” movie)
Lou Bloom is every New Yorker because he’ll film a disaster right in front of himself rather than offer assistance
absolutely kino
Need an episode for Ken
I saw this movie in the theater. I'm 30 now.
am i the only so high you cant die like im so zooted i grew tentacles and i got eyes inside my brain and shiet boi im trippin
No, that’s pretty common.
You’ll want to get those eyes out of your head so you can use them to achieve god hood. Get digging.
How many times do you rewatch the movie before making a video about it?
Your mustache was epic btw...I miss eet. Jake Gyllenhaal is oneof the better actors of this age. This film is incredible.
We all undersold people like Jake and Robert Pattinson and Zac effron. Turns out, they’re actually hard working guys who are really passionate about acting.
I remember watching this on Netflix I believe sometime near when it came out. This movie made me uncomfortable I didn't understand at all what it was about at the time haven't thought about it in years
Reminds me of The Night Flier. Only because the main characters do the same kind of scummy work. But Lou is actually more sympathetic imo lol.
Would Holden Caulfield from Catcher in the Rye qualify as a "Literally Me" character?

This movie is the biggest cinematographic black pill i've ever seen. Genuinely disturbing to watch, specially after finding some quirks and mannerisms of Lou on myself.
