he could have made some improvements; mainly using a higher pressure weapon. a 50 cal would kill you with the recoil but it would punch through so much more . also the aluminum hand is cool but impractical as i spreads the impact on a larger surface area.

I would add a cross over gas tube at the end of the piston stroke that bleeds gas from the high pressure side to the low pressure side. Then once the piston is all the way in the home position, have another port located where it all vents to atmosphere. Or at a minimum, drill a port at the end of the stroke to vent the high pressure side to atmosphere. There’s a ton of gas coming out of the breach. With the lack of pressure relief before the bolt opens, and the back pressure from trying to move something significantly heavier than a bullet, you’re going to break a locking lug on you bolt and/or breach.

I saw your video when you first made it and I knew there was a device that was used like the punch gun that existed back in medieval times but I could not think of what it was and it has stressed me out ever since. Until today. The thing you reinvented is called a petard, which was an explosive munition in a bell-shaped cannon with a heavy object in front of it so that the explosion would launch the object to bust down gates. This is where the phrase "hoisted by my/your/his/her own petard" comes from.

In the 1970s there was a commercially produced powder actuated tool that used .38 caliber blanks. It was capable of penetrating 1-1/4" steel with a 3/8" diameter fastener. It works under water as well.

With each new video uploaded, I am that much more astounded that he still has all of his limbs attached.
if this same mechanism can be installed under the rifle barrel while still engaging the force of the blank or got integrated with a quick release function that doesn't compromise safety, i could genuinely see this as a tactical response/FBI breaching tool. someone mentioned door breaching slugs which do the exact same job being cheaper and more effective but as a less lethal version of an already "less lethal" product i think it serves a niche.
hypothetically if the room youre trying to enter is small with minimal cover for the shrapnel of a standard door breacher round breach or in a situation where combatants/civilians/innocents are close to the door in general, this could produce adequate force to break small locked door without comprising the health of the individual
maybe an integrated barrel design where the stopping mechanism/spring can be quickly de-threaded or de-latched to provide the shooter with a semi/fully auto weapon seconds after less-less lethal breach. with this concept the main breach mechanisms barrel would have to weigh less than an under barrel shotgun (1.22 kg for the m26 mass) to compete tactically
Also even though it would be the most unintelligent thing a person could do, i cant wait until we see someone use this concept on a 50cal blank
