    4:05 Actually, the two insulated wires are the left and right stereo channels, while ground technically is negative.

    The problem I have is with those thin fiber wires. The audio strength is too weak. Those 80's headphones work no problem, but earbuds seem impossible to get decent volume levels.

    This video leaves too many questions. What do you set your multimeter at? Which parts on the jack are positive, negative, and ground?

    thanks for this, I saved my headphones (for now)! I was able to just burn off the insulation and twist the wires... not pretty but it works :)

    I have 1 wire with ground and 2 insulated wire red and white. The other wire they all insulated but green yellow and black that's where I get lost witch is negative black I was guessing

    Hi.im trying to replace my old speaker AUX..but for some reason now the Bass are way too low.there's white red & grey wire.but the aux cord has red white & blue.so i just connect white with white,red with red & the blue with the grey.the speaker cord has grounding but not the new aux cord.what am i doing wrong.Bass is there but very low

    i have a mp3 player and the cables i used are not the problem, its the female within the player. either i get a new one Or is there a method to fix it keeping the player (my late gf bought it for me, id like to keep it)

    i know this video is a little old, but i have 4 wires, one gold, one red, one blue, and one that's striped with red and green?

      just unraveled the green/red striped and there was another wire with a sealant around it, and the inside of that is gold like one of the previous???

      @@dakotabailey5944 Well, apparently the one you mentioned last (red+green), is the mic cable. In this case, you'll need an audio jack with 3 rings, instead of the normal one. I assume you're using headphones with a microphone built-in.

      Not if you specifically have a cable that is X into aux and you need X but can splice the aux to save the cord because X to aux is way more expensive than aux to aux. obvious choice is to splice
