悟空 Wukong has 七十二变 72 transformations in the original, so he can turn into a bat.
To add, the 72 transformations is just to indicate that it's the highest level in the school of Daoist "magic." The next level down is 36 transformations. Wukong can transform into anything theoretically, though he has trouble hiding his tail sometimes.

It’s funny you bring up goku, it was wukong that heavily inspired saiyans in general but you can see a lot of wukong inspiration in goku himself, from his constant carefree attitude, to the long monkey staff that extended, to the funny and humiliating way he use to fight.
