Former world champion with Yugoslavia,both junior and senior team,european chamipon both as club and national team coach, he is walking basketball Bible. We must be happy and learn from him because he is already in his senior years. Big respect and much love for mr. Svetislav Pesic!
He also won European Championship with Germany as a head coach in 1993 I believe, which makes him the only one winning with two different national teams!

Such a smart basketball team. Serbia always has open looks and they make some tough shots. I don't know any of their players aside from Bogdanovic and Jovic but as a team they are incredible. Milutinov has great touch and is very smart when he is under the basket he can create space and find open looks, which is rare for a bigman.

In European basketball each player has to be at least somewhat smart and understand the game since the format is such that every game counts and matters.
It's all due to totally different style of development and game in general.
Keep in mind, Serbia is as big or a bit smaller than Indiana, in population and area, so there isn't a big talent pool, and Lithuania has only around 3 million inhabitants.
There's great channel on YT, called Basket news with very knowledgeable young guys that follow euro and NBA bball, look it up if interested.

Phillipines has the right mindset. Very friendly like Serbians and team people. It is a matter of time before they become really good. The only thing that separates them is the height. It is very easy to find a tall Serbian guy who is good at basketball.. it is not easy to find a tall Filipino and on top of that be good at basketball. The Serbian genetics make it easier I think

I'm extremely happy that two European teams are playing in the finals. As for us, the basics of basketball as a game and what Serbian coaches (previously Yugoslav) emphasize from the earliest stages of player development is that easy layups and the best dunks Aaron Gordon style, for example, are just as valuable: +2 on the scoreboard. In basketball, there are no extra points for artistic impression. Don't overcomplicate things and find, as a team, the easiest way to score. Commitment to defense is a must, ofc. That's what got us to this finals. I know the discussion immediately shifts to which players the USA sent, who we and Canada are missing... but that's it. These were the guys who were there, and they deserve all the praise and support.
Couldn't agree with you more. As a proud American, I stand with your sentiment. I think many, (albeit wrongly) get caught up in the showmanship and ball-doggery of the game, instead of focusing on the most important manusha thereof. Which as you put it: is the ability to find the easiest shot, the least complicated and most valuable, in context.

if there’s one thing I noticed about many NBA players not just in this world cup but also in the last World Cup is the inability to defend. probably a result of NBA being a less defensive focused league. Add these players coming from an AAU program. The Europeans plays the game perfectly from defense to offense, they seem to be more complete as a collection of players in a team and almost the 5 guys on the floor can pass
This is true... I would go even further, young casual NBA fans who just watch NBA basketball think playing aggressive defense is playing dirty, I saw multiple comments on team Serbia playing dirty, while they just play organized and aggressive defense. I think that NBA forcing showmanship so much is starting to hurt basketball as a game in the US. I think just enough showmanship and strong basketball can co-exist, like it did in the 90s and earlier in NBA... And I know it's all about show and revenue, but come on, you don't have to destroy a sport to get the revenue...
Don't allow double stepbacks, 3-4 steps, 2-3 steps before dribble for the sake of show and don't allow players not to play defense so they don't get posterized etc...

'97,98, 2000, 2001 itd pod izgovorom da je umoran, da je sezona u NBA naporna da želi biti sa porodicom itd
Stojakovic se posle 26 godina nije više nijednom odazvao za reprezentaciju. Igrao je samo od' 99 do 2003 za nacionalni tim. Posle toga još 8 godina u NBA niti jednom nije ponovo došao za Srbiju igrati.
Krstic odbio 3 puta reprezentaciju. O Milicicu, Radmanoviću i drugima da ne pričam.
Da nije bilo lok auta '99 Divac bi samo 4 puta igrao za reprezentaciju u 15 godina jbt.
Samo se prosipate glupostima.
Nijedan srpski igrač od preko 30 koji su igrali u NBA nije došao iz naporne NBA igrati više od 3-4 puta za reprezentaciju osim Divca i Stojakovica.
Jokic kad nastupi na Olimpijadi već će imati više nastupa dolazeći iz NBA za Srbiju nego SVI OSTALI NASI osim Divca i Stojakovica.
Da ne pričam što je Jokic i 2 puta dolazio igrao kvalifikacije.
