At the moment, the United States is tied with Serbia for the most gold medals in the FIBA World Cup (5). However, they'll fall into second place if Serbia is able to beat Germany in the final this year. Aside from their gold medal wins and seventh place finish in 2019, there are multiple years were Team USA landed somewhere in between.

What is the number of players from the former Yugoslavia, and what are the nationalities of these guys. They are exclusive

Also, of all the countries that were created after the breakup of the former Yugoslavia ... Only Serbia has a serious basketball national team and club basketball ... And he only wins medals at the European and World Championships ... So when you look at things logically, everything will be clear to you who led the basketball national team of the former Yugoslavia back then, it was the Serbs.
We can also go to the results of all the countries that were created after the breakup of Yugoslavia.
YUGOSLVIA/SERBIA With a note that, due to sanctions, Yugoslavia has not participated in any world, European or Olympic games since 1991/1995. While the other national teams had the right to perform. It is certain that if YUGOSLAVIA/SERBIA had participated in the championships from 1991 to 1995, they would have won a few more medals, most of them would have been gold... It was only until 1995 that it participated in Athens and then won gold. These are the results so far, without this gold or silver from Manila 2023.

You‘ve got to give some respect to coach Pesic! One of the great European coaches of our time. He even lead Germany in 1993 to a European Championship. So it’s going to be interesting to see, if Germany can keep up the momentum on Sunday. Usually, I would put my money on Serbia, but this German team is so deep and so hungry for the title… anything is possible. Still, I would be super surprised and ecstatic, if the Germans could pull this one off.
Respect to Serbia though. One of the all-time best basketball nations. Amazing, considering the size of the country.
Germany have been on a roll lately. But in the FIBA World Cups, the team that has beaten USA have lost all 3 games that were next. Who knows if history won't repeat itself
Well, USA literary played 0 sec of defense. Lithuania also won USA with giving them 110+ points, but palying against Serbia, they couldn't score 80, and the simple reason is defense, but not only sticking to a player, but elaborate defense that disrupt all main schemes of attack opponent is playing... Germany has the same problem as Lithuania, doesn't have good enough big under the basket, and that is weakness that is easy to exploite, on the other side of court, Schroeder and Theis will not be allowed to walk like in park as against USA, they will every time get stonewall in the face.
I can already tell what will happened: Schroeder would be denied first couple attacks, then he would become nervouse, then as time pass and nothing happens positive, he will crack, and pull with him mentaly rest of Germans... If Germany play calm and concentrated their defense, and not rush in attack, it might be close game, but I can already see they would lose their calm in some point of 2nd quarter, go to pause with deficite, and come already defeated from locker room for 3rd quarter...
Of course, if Serbia play at same level as against Lithuania and Canada, Germany is doomed, if Serbia enter in down moment, like against Italy, it would be otherwise, so this is a game where skill will not play so important role as psyche of the players...

USA have great players, but they don't play like a team. They are a bunch of extraordinary individuals. Watching NBA last decade, the Nuggs played with Jokic like a team. Thats why they won NBA this year.

It’s terrific that Serbia doesn’t add naturalized players in their squad. And look how well they did without them and how proud they are of their achievement. Hopefully my fellow Greeks will realize that as well. We don’t need players that have nothing to fight for since they don’t represent Greece in their hearts and they even admit it publicly threat they are of other nations…
Unfortunately though, in a world where everything wants to become United, those who govern want this confusion. Just like breaking up Yugoslavia and every country with a strong identity (religious and cultural) these actions too are all done on purpose.
The Old man Pešić and his bags of tricks! Great scouting of team Canada by our coaching staff and as a side note, Avramović spent the last two days before the semi's watching the mixtapes of SGA in order to prepare!
He was fully locked in Mamba Mentality, studying every possible scenario where he could steal the ball.
The only thing I blame Pesic for is that he has a big EGO and didn't call Teodosic to the team. When it comes to the national team, you will leave your frustrations and EGO at home, coach Pesic. Am I clear!?
@@zarkogrncarevski685 I am thinking right now that it is for the better. Teodosic is my fav playmaker, assist machine, creative genius... but he has an ego.. and I think if his ego gets hurt, he would put it in front of the team, others, and the world cup.

I don't really know where did you find "3rd world title ever" because Serbia is the successor of Yugoslavia and, if it wins on Sunday, it will be 6th gold ever (1st on the top list) and only the 1st as Serbia (has only one silver so far).

The Balkans, and Serbia in particular, have given us some amazing players over the last few decades. Just take a look at what a powerhouse former Yugoslavia was during the '90s. Germans have a great shooting squad, but we all saw how Lithuania went down against Serbia, its just that Pesic has a perfect defensive strategy against sharpshooting teams.
On the other hand German defense is suboptimal at best lets be real, at yesterdays game i really dont know who played worse defense Germany or USA and Serbia can really punish teams like that, even in games before yesterdays, German defense was quite weak and werent that good against strong defensive teams.
If you ask me, Serbia has much higher chances to win this gold, but we will see.

you gonna be kidding me... you couldn't defend USA... don't underestimate their game... even if they didn't looked like they try hard... they prob. was all natural gifted on a very high amount... anthony ewards just played like young michael jordan... there is no downtalk... they played so well... in basketball you can't defend everything... you MAY have could defended better --- if you LEAN on full defense... but whats the matter if they just outscore in the end anyway? what if you defend so good, but you just can't score? USA will ALWAYS score... if you don't have eyes for that... I think NOBODY could have beaten USA in that game but germany with their pure WILL to win... serbia may would have defended better but 100% they would have NOT scored that high vs. USA.
@@user-km4lb4ju3iSerbia doesnt have the quality to pull of the same accuracy and difficult shots as the USA vs Germany. They struggled hard vs italy and had bad accuracy. Italy got destroyed by 40pt by the USA. Germany has the quality to run over Serbia and the game vs Lithuania was only close because Schröder had a terrible day. If Germany shows up Serbia stands little chance to defend their offense.
@@Brien831 Yes but game against Italy doesn’t really show anything since players were in hospital and didn’t sleep all night before that game, because teammate Simonic was in difficult condition, needed blood and they couldn’t find A negative blood type for him. But you are right, it will be extremely hard against Germany. They won all their games, have amazing chemistry and play unbelievably.

Serbia an definitely win the gold. The Serbs have a lot of good, fundamentally sound players that shoot the ball well. They were not intimidated by Canada at all and you can see why with all the good, solid players they have. Serbia is a hotbed of baske6ball in Europe and the talent pool is so deep they don't even need Jokic.
