The best Serb who played basketball was an American citizen. Pistol Pete Maravich. He always emphasized his Serbian origin and trained by listening to Serbian songs. :) Good video!

He didn't always emphasize his origin, if there is one thing that he emphasized is his faith in Jesus Christ - he said that he would choose to be known rather as a Christian than as a basketball player. You can look up his Christian testimony.
In fact his life is very interesting, only after his death it was discovered that he had a major birth defect, he was born without a coronary artery but even so he was a professional athlete and till this day the best college player ever to play basketball. He heard a voice telling him to "be strong and lift thine own heart" - he was convinced that God spoke to him and some years after that he was playing casually with his friends and he just laid down and died, he was at that point living his life by always talking about God and telling people to turn to Jesus Christ.
@@AleksAvramJeff For those who are deep in religion, faith is more important than anything. Serbs know that part of his life that is not interesting to those people who do not care about his origin. He talked about his origins with much more fire than the average Serb in Serbia. People who are not in favor of Serbs declared him an extremist because of his statements. Personally, I not interested in Serbianness or religion. Faith is a personal matter for each individual and it should be respected. In any case, Pete Maravich was a special man.

Both Goran Dragic and Luka Doncic are Serbs, who have Slovenian citizenship.

Greatest Srb who ever play in NBA was Pete Maravich known sa Pistol Pete period.
His father´s name is Petar (common name for serbs instead of Peter), and his grandfather is Vajo (Vayo) Maravic from Lika, today´s Croatia. His mother is also serbian and same as his father was confessing Serbian Orthodox religion. If we say al serbs, than Pistol Pete deserves to be mentioned. If we say citizens of Serbia, than it is ok to skip his name, as he was USA citizen.
There is a story that Rudy Tomjanovich told on the sport channel when he first time played against Pistol Pete Maravich. Pistol Pete Maravich asked him if he is Serbian and Tomjanovich answered " No Croatian ", Maravich said " I am Serbian and now I will destroy you on the court ". Tomjanovich continued " and of course later we became a friends ".
Divac played in one of the most talented NBA eras especially in big man segment. He's top 30 centers when you factor that in
Actual list of serbian NBA players is lot longer (20+ longer) and out of top of my head, Paspalj, Djordjevic, Tarlac, Rakocevic are missing, all european legends and European cup winners if not left a huge mark in NBA. Curent players Smailagic and Pokusevski are missing also.

Rođen u sjedinjenim državama, i odrastao tamo, u vreme kada je on igrao nije se moglo ići igrat u NBA iz Evrope, nego su svi izilazili sa koledža, nije fer porediti ga sa ostalima.

Video should be retitled to "All Serbians in NBA".
Serbian illustrates nationality/citizenship.
On the other hand, Serb illustrates ethnic background/descent.
Doncic and Goran Dragic are both of Serb descent, although they are Slovenian nationals (Slovenian citizenship).
So, if its "All Serbs in NBA", they should be included.
If its "All Serbians in NBA" they should not be included.

You failed to mention Nikola Peković - even though he played for Montenegro, he holds Serbian citizenship and he made a name by playing for Partizan in Serbia. Same with Predrag Drobnjak. Nikola Mirotić plays for the Spanish national team, but declares himself as an ethnic Serb. Nikola Vučević said that he was born in Switzerland to Serbian parents from Montenegro and Bosnia. Žarko Čabarkapa has a dual citizenship and was born in Serbia. And you forgot Aleksandar Radojević. Danilović's pre-draft team was Partizan. Partizan produced the most NBA players outside the US. From 1989 until today, 13 players have been drafted directly from Partizan, several undrafted players have played in the NBA (Žarko Paspalj, Saša Djordjević, Ratko Varda), and Latvian laser Davis Bertans has made great progress under the mentorship of Duško Vujosević, Europe's greatest talent polisher.

Just to add Divac was playing with very strong and powerful players like Magic or Chris V in big franchise and it was even harder to be the leader and got the ball in his hands . but Jokic is the most powerful player in Nugg.(one of the most powerful in the league, for sure)

Serb, on the other hand, illustrates ethnic background or descent.
There are Serbs living in many different countries, including Slovenia.
Doncic & Goran Dragic are of Serb descent, although they have Slovenian citizenship.
So, if its "All Serbs in NBA" then it should include Doncic and Dragic.
If its "All Serbians in NBA" it should not include them.

Najbolji Srbin koji ikada igrao u NBA je Predrag Stojakovic koji je osvojio sveeee na svetu,a ako bog da pridruzice mu se i Nikola Jokic. TACKA.

NIKOLA JOKIC je mnogo mnogo jaci igrac... pored toga sto je JOKIC broj 1 igrac u svojoj ekipi mnogo jace i sigurnije igra ima ogromno samopouzdanje i kompletnu dominaciju.... najjaci je igrac na svojoj poziciji... i sto je najbitnije ima taj clutch momenat koji nikad ni jedan igrac nas nije imao da je on taj koji zavrsava i resava utakmice.... Stojakovic je bio jedan od najvaznijih sutera svih vremena ali clutch poeni i situacije mu nisu bili bas jaca strana.... setim se uvek 3-3 protiv L.A. Lakers i promasene kompletna konstrukcija.... takodje svetsko prvenstvo clutch situaciju je odigrao Dejan Bodiroga ( bog kosarke)

On je pola-pola. Majka mu je Jevrejka, a otac Goranac. Meni je mnogo smešno kad vidim da Bugari prisvajaju Gorance i baljezgaju kako su oni etnički Bugari i kako albanske institucije na Kosmetu trebaju da ih priznaju kao bugarsku nacionalnu manjinu. A sami Goranci traže da se školuju na srpskom jeziku i da se priključe Zajednici Srpskih Opštine.

Serbia has a good tradition in basketball generally speaking, the coaching school and the passion for the game has been a big influence since the 70's and there are a lot of tall people in general too.
Legacy plays a great part in this too.
