- All Unsportsmanlike Foul (C1-C2-C3-C4) at FIBA World Cup 2023.
An Unsportsmanlike foul is a player contact which, in the judgement of a referee is:
- C1 - Contact with opponent and not legitimately attempting to directly play the ball within the spirit and intent of the rules.
- C2 - Excessive, hard contact caused by a player in an effort to play the ball or an opponent.
- C3 - An unnecessary contact caused by the player in order to stop the progress of the offensive team in transition. This applies until the offensive player starts his/her act of shooting.
- C4 - An illegal contact caused by the player from behind or laterally on an opponent Who is progressing towards the opponent´s basket and there are no other players between the progressing player, the ball and the basket, and
- the progressing player is in control of the ball, or
- the progressing player is attempting to gain control of the ball, or
- the ball has been released on a pass to the progressing player.
This applies until the offensive player starts his/her act of shooting. - Sport

after reviewing this, i feel like 10:47, shouldn't be upgraded, I guess they don't fit neither one of the criteria.
We want players to be able to lend safe after 3 point shot. If they twist the ankle because of the defensive player not being careful and putting their foot in the landing spot, it´s an C2.
The "Bruce Bowen" has no home on the basketball court.

@@matsananta713 Could be correct. They almost always upgrade fouls like that after IRS review. But calling normal foul on that and calling U for grabbing players shirt annoys me.
9:45 is not a UF but DF... Karate is another sport...
As i watch the clip again i kinda agree with you, the leg up so high in the face should be DF

An unsportsmanlike foul is automatic two freethrows?
An Unsportsmanlike foul is 2 free throws and possession of the basketball from the designated throw in spot. You can have 3 free throws if in the act of shooting a 3pt shot or 1 free throw if in the act of shooting and the basket counts.

look again at 8:19, frame by frame, I wouldn't say its a tech for flopping on that. but then personally an unsportsmanlike maybe not.

@@franckylibbrecht6103 you cannot have a TF for faking a foul as well as another foul for the actual contact, it's one or another, you can't have both.
so many weird/ interesting calls. the U at 13:10 makes no sense. Player hanging on the rim should not have let go. He decided to hang there, swinging into the defensive player
He had nowhere to go and I feel he couldn´t have let go earlier. He had to swing back. Nothing "unusual" about this but of course he doesn´t mind hanging a little extra to but some salt into the defenders wound.
@@einargun Looking at it again, I now understand. Yes, the player should've held on longer. But the problem was the red player swung into him with half an elbow when he landed.
White let go 'onto' the red player. If he just held on and shout out careful, you clear? okay, let's go. But this is world cup, high stakes, a lot of animosity.
These are all weak. Basketball is going to hell
