+ Bonus Clip Yeovil Pen Mill Station
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Yeovil Junction taken on 28/07/1989. Again more class 50s and a 33 on this route and the service from Basingstoke in the form of DEMU class 207. Plus a short bonus at the end where I visited Pen Mill Station. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
That surprised me they allowed passangers to cross the tracks . 8 Carriage trains. Excellent video.
many thanks for watching and for the comment...best wishes....Mark
5:30 buffet car! Never bloody open. I rode dozens of trips on this line. Probably remember one or two times the buffet was actually open and serving. Also, a 33 hauling? A rare sight indeed.
Best regards and many thanks...Mark
@djsmeguk The 65xx micro buffet were always manned in the mid 1980s when I travelled, although early morning or late evening it wasn't. Towards the end it was less and less, I did trolley work in 1993 for 12 weeks after the locos and coaches, but now there are no facilities on train today.
Sure not been to Yeovil,
Surely one day I will!

Love the Thumper music
You're very welcome and many thanks for watching and best regards....Mark
Pretty sure the DEMU class 207 came from Portsmouth Harbour and not Basingstoke as it has headcode 87. I grew up in Portsmouth and recall there was one daily weekday departure around 3:30PM to Yeovil Junction from Portsmouth. Like I say headcode 87 is the reasoning to suggest, great clip non the less, thanks for sharing.
You are most likely correct.....I think it returned to Basingstoke....... and many thanks for watching and best regards....Mark
Miraculous how the turntable at YJ survived, a useful asset as it's now turned out to be
Indeed.....many thanks Andrei......Mark
Even with the Class 47s NSE had at Old Oak they were still using Cromptons even then
Yes and the 47s on those services returned to OO at night on ECS workings.....thanks Andrei as always much appreciated.....Mark
The platform bell heard at 6.31 is now performing the same function at Buckfastleigh on the SDR.
Excellent info ......many thanks for watching and for the comment...best wishes....Mark
