Today I'm reacting to Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton's recent Hot Ones episode in which he eats the vegan wings! Join me as I munch on my favorite store-bought vegan wings--the Field Roast Buffalo Wings--and enjoy Lewis's episode! In addition to sharing his warm and charismatic personality, Lewis used his appearance to do a little vegan activism which I was pleasantly surprised by!

Lewis Hamilton is awesome. Really loved watching this with you. Feel like I should make a new version of my "vegan hot ones" video to include Lewis. It did go by fast when he said that but I'm really glad he did. Little things like that can make a huge difference.

Good on you, me too. I refuse to be complicit in violence and partake in a meal where people are chomping on innocent beings. People think I'm a freak when I turn down invites or tell them that I won't be present for the meal, but will come afterwards.
Even more reason for carnists to eat vegan only when around their vegan friends/loved ones! 😊
I have 6 chickens myself, 4 hens and 2 roosters, and the thought of depriving their cute, joyful little souls of life in order to consume their body parts is horrific to me and just turns my stomach 😢 💔

8:32 yeah I had to replay that part quite a few times too. People on a vegan lifestyle are way too hesitant to comment to those around them about eating animal food, let alone celebrities trying to be careful about preserving their image. So it was shocking to hear that.
Absolutely! Especially since they are usually on shows like this representing a film, show, or giant entity (in Lewis' case, Formula 1). I agree; it was subtle but shocking!

People really do get stupid about food. I was having a "heated discussion" with a random abuse promoter online and he went through my photos and found one that was literally "chick'n and waffels". He practically exploded with schadenfreude, thinking I'd eaten actual dead chicken covered in dairy butter. 🙄 That's how much YOU can't tell the difference, dude. It was at a vegan restaurant. (And was delicious (he didn't even ask!)) 😂

I was just scrolling through all the comments on the Hot Ones IG posts promoting this episode, and the number of “isn’t he vegan?!” comments were astounding. Seriously, the rational part of the human brain seems to turn off when food is involved. Especially if someone even vaguely feels their food supply is threatened.
Well I'm getting schadenfreude at picturing his face when you told him it was vegan lol 😄 It's really funny how many non-vegans think they have checkmate-gotchas, but they're just really basic, uninformed myths and silly arguments that are easy to debunk.

My #1 is Frank’s, surprising to no one. It was love at first bite when I tried it in my college dining hall 😂 I also love the Sky Valley sriracha, and Cholula is my go-to for Mexican 🌶️🤗

I do too! I also love a good chili crisp but tbh I sometimes find myself buying and not using them.
I’m not trying to be a big downer, but that was a pretty minimum effort on Hamilton part if he is indeed an ethical vegan. He had a pretty huge moment of 1 on 1 exposer there to say something significant for the animals.
I think Sean Evans seems like a nice guy but his show is responsible for not just his consumption of 3000 wings but the guests consumption of 3000 wings and then also highlighting the idea of consuming wings for fun and challenge with their hot sauce.
This shows impact on the continuing deaths of chickens is likely incredibly significant .
I agree with your points, but I think as vegans you have to pick your moments when interacting with non-vegans especially on such a huge platform. There is a point of diminishing returns and I think the most effective activists know where that point is and toe the line but don't cross it. While I think a more aggressive approach tends to curry favor/kudos from other vegans, there's a point at which it stops being effective to the people we're actually trying to get to change. I think Lewis handled this perfectly.
Bought the beyond meat hamburger, and made the patties a bit too thick. It simulated meat so closely that I started gagging. Ever since I can’t handle the fake meats.
For wings, breaded cauliflower makes a great substitute.
There's a huuuuge variety among mock meats (not sure if you've seen my mock meat video but I discuss this at length!). I would say Beyond Meat is one of the most disliked by vegans (although they have apparently made huge improvements with their new formula; I haven't tried it yet). There are plenty of mock meats in a "semi-realistic" category that have a more pleasing texture/taste to vegans, like Field Roast. The vegan wings they eat on Hot Ones, if they are indeed the May Wah brand, fall in this category. I personally prefer ones like that to cauliflower wings because they have a more satisfying texture and are loaded with protein!

I recently read a piece of the court document of DV allegations filed against Brad Pitt about what he allegedly did to Angelina & their kids on a plane ride. It’s truly shocking and difficult to read. Of course they are allegations but I personally believe them, as much as I have been a Brad Pitt fan in the past. It’s hard to see Hollywood men continuing to get opportunities after horrific displays of behavior (it may be that he has been attached to this movie for years, before all of this came out; I’m not sure). Yes for a vegan driver, talking about it should be a major point of interest being as it is still rare amongst athletes.

I actually binged all of Hot Ones just before I learnt about veganism and went vegan. Haven't been able to watch it since but I still enjoyed the show. So I appreciate the coverage 😊
Yes; it sucks that we are often precluded from being able to enjoy common media formats (cooking shows, food interview shows) if we don't want to watch people glorifying munching on carcasses.
@@TotallyForkable I know. Used to love Hells Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and my used to be favourite, The Great British Bake Off. Hopefully with vegan people like Lewis Hamilton doing these shows, we can enjoy them a little more in the future.

I did, and I mentioned it in this video! Natalie was on the show promoting a vegan film but IMO she takes a very "hands-off"/non-judgmental approach when discussing the topic. Lewis actually "went there" in terms of telling the host he should stop eating chicken wings.

I think John Oliver is a closet vegan. He also makes comments on his show that sometimes point towards that.
I wouldn't be surprised! There was some discussion of that in my "Good Vegan News" video where I discussed his "Pig Butchering Scam" segment.
