    I've got TWELVE THOUSAND ROUNDS in my M&P 2.0 9mm without a single jam. Cleaned it 3 times. My only real complaint with the gun is the stock trigger, but then again, it's got the BEST trigger of any gun I've fired with a $150 trigger mod.

    Both are amazing pistols and the pros and cons of either are essentially splitting hairs. I think the preference is whichever one gets in your hands first. I found a very well priced Gen 3 Glock 19 about 4 years ago and I recently switched to a gen 5. Had I stumbled on an M&P years ago, I think I would have stayed with S&W.

      Same I’ve had mine a month (first firearm) and it’s only got 150 rounds through it now, but I love it. To make my mind up initially i rented a glock and a M&p. I wanted to like the glock like everyone else. But liked the grip, sights, and trigger as well as its shooting balance and characteristics of the M&p more than the glock. Glad I went with the M&p. No going back and love it. May get a cz or walther next, but the M&p can do it all, home defense, range and conceal carry

    I love mine, perfect size for me to carry, and you get a lot for your money. I like that beavertail and the texturing is awesome. It’s aggressive, but for me that a huge plus. I love my Sigs, Glocks, and M&P’s but it’s just preference, find a range and shoot them before you make your mind up. Or, you could do what I do, buy all of em and sleep on the couch.

    I have and like both. Two things I like better about the Glock is 1: The tactile loaded chamber indicator. I work nights and can't see the witness hole in the M&P without a light. 2: With the Glock, the trigger acts as a cocked indicator. Trigger forward = cocked. Trigger rearward = not cocked. As far as the grip angle, definitely M&P.

      From a guy that has both,i prefer the M&P.The only thing Glock has over the M&P is the 30 year proven track record for reliability.I shoot the M&P alot better(accuracy)....feels better in hand,better grip angle,better stock sights.Slide stop lever works better as a release on the M&P,if you choose to use it that way.The M&P has a lifetime warranty,Glock doesn't,not that you will need it much for the Glock.So yes,while i am a fan of the Glock pistol and still have them,i prefer the M&P 2.0

    I sanded the inside of the grip where there is a slight raised seam. When you use the large grips, it was squeezing grip a little and that seam was preventing the mags from coming out freely. A little sanding and mags slide out much better. I also had one of the earlier models, I bought mine back in 2017.

    The M2.0C is amazing. Grip texture is perfect, trigger is outstanding now and accuracy is spot on. I have checked out the Gen5 G19 and it is not very impressive to me.The M&P offers much more for the money. Plus price for me is amazing on the M&P. Got my M2.0C at a Police/Military prices and after the Nations Finest Rebate program I will have only paid $380.00 and I got 3 mags with it.

    As much as I love and always will love my Glock 19, I am pleased to see that there is finally a reputable manufacturer making a comparable gun in the same size. I love the ergos on the M&P and the new 2.0 trigger feels pretty solid for a striker fired pistol. I will have to give these guns a closer look.

  • @lbrown1017
    @lbrown1017 Před 6 lety +21

    Traded my Glock 19 Gen 4 for the 2.0 Compact primarily for ergonomics. While the G19 felt good initially, the frame design just did not allow comfortable trigger control as time went on. The 2.0 is simply excellent for my medium size hands. The 2.0 is a slightly softer shooter, probably due to the steel frame reinforcement. And the grip texture is superb. It felt awfully aggressive at my LGS, but it has proven to be terrific at the range. Both have been totally reliable. Very happy with the change!

      @Ruben Pulido You must of held the M&P shield. The M&P 9c (discontinued) and the M&P 2.0 9 compact are pretty much the same size as the glock 19. Also, smith and wesson makes a bodyguard chambered in 380. It's a smaller framed gun, could it have been that one?
      Edit: I should clarify, that the glock 19 is actualy smaller than the 9c and the 2.0 9c. Just in case anyone was wondering which pistol is actually smaller.

    Since the video some things have changed. A lot of people suggested the Apex straight trigger mod. I went with Apex but the curved trigger. 3.5 to 4 trigger pull with great reset. I also got rid of the fixed sights and went to adjustable 3 dots. Sighted it in at 7 yards and shot .5" groups. Went to 25 yards and consistently hit in the 10 ring of a 6" target. I have Glock also but I think I like the M&P 2.0 compact better. And you are right, the grip makes a big difference with me. That gun is like glued to my hand!!!

    • @davidrpriest
      @davidrpriest Před 6 lety +14

      The only real advantage that Glock has is track record. Their reliability is legendary. It will take a few years to see if the Smith and Wesson can equal Glock's dependability.

    • @frankhellman6879
      @frankhellman6879 Před 6 lety +19

      A fair point. If Glock sells a million new 19x models, then they validate keeping prices higher. But they're losing market share now as other brands make better models to compete (mimic actually) and Glock sits on their backsides. When those better looking equally good models cost less, Glock will have to react with real improvements, flashier design, and/or begin to become irrelevant.
      It's not going to be about Glock's reliability, they make an outstanding product. They need to learn from Henry Ford, the model T and his fall in the market when he refused to adapt to the fickle market. The Model T was fantastic, but not forever. It will be interesting either way.

But I do notice I’m able to get the perfect grip that I need to control the pistol because of the texture. I really like the Smith and Wesson 2.0 and I feel it’s very easy to shoot accurately.

    Got the M&P9 2.0c about a month ago and then got the Ruger SR9C. I am in love with the M&P. The Ruger has the better trigger but M&P does not move once I grip it. Gotta love the aggressive grip texture. It eats just about whatever I’ve put in it (Federal, factory load, Blazer Brass, Winchester white box) but I haven’t fed it anything less than 115 grain. I love the safety features and the gun shoots accurately without any adjustment made. I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it. I hope In the future they improve the front serrations though. I have the 4” by the way.

    I’ve carried a Glock 19 for round about 2 years now. I’ve gotten to where I shoot it well, but the grip angle still bugs me a bit. I will be getting the 2.0 compact soon and we will see if it replaces the 19 in my EDC. It looks promising. Glock has lead the market for years but I think they have some real competition with Smith now!

    The beveling in the front of the M&P is meant for racking the slide back with your hand underneath the gun from the front so your free hand is closer to firing position when releasing the slide. This explains the shape and angle of the bevel.

    M&P all the way! Better price, better METAL sights, stainless slide, supported chamber, better grip texturing, outstanding trigger (the hinge has grown on me), USA made, better fit and finish, cooler looking, plenty of aftermarket stuff... MY ONLY thoughts... bigger fishtales near barrel needed, textual loaded chamber indicator for darkness, stock night sights, but none of these are essential, as it is worlds better on its own. Smith went to town on improvements and Glock continued the crappy sights (they must have a deal with aftermarket vendor) and a pretty crappy fit and finish. One other subjective thought... the M&P just feels a lot bigger than the G19 even though they are essentially the same size. There is nothing really to write home about with the GEN5 Glock. I actually prefer the GEN3.
    I want a 9C 2.0 to be released AND sleeves included to allow it to handle the 2.0 Compact 15-round mags as well as the 12 rounders, but with all the other upgrades, most importantly the trigger. Have not experienced the 3.6" 2.0 Compact, but sure it is a keeper, too. Too bad Smith isn't offering Glock "buybacks".

    I reload my own ammo. Yes, I know gun manufacturers don't "recommend" reloads. I found that Glock uses a highly tapered chamber to enhance feeding of the round. But when it is fired, the extra width at the back of the chamber allows the rear area of the brass to expand more than with other pistols. When reloading, the taper die doesn't bring the brass case all the way back straight. There is still a bulge at the rear of the cartridge. When loaded in a non-Glock gun of the same caliber, this Glock fired brass will prevent the slide from fully closing and completely feeding the round. I found I had to keep my Glock brass separate from other brass of the same caliber.

    • @njneer7511

    Got the M&P 2.0 .40 cal for my 21st birthday yesterday. Absolutely love it! Going to carry this for a long time! :) Growing up, my dad always carried a glock 22c which I was accustomed to whenever we went to the range and was quite comfortable with it despite it being a rectangle of a handle, and figured I'd end up with a glock for my EDC. However, after going to a local gun shop to look around holding and inspecting different handguns, I loved the way the M&P fit in my hand and seeing that I could adjust the grip to my hand size was even better. I've nothing against glocks. Those things will go through hell and back and are some of the most reliable handguns I've seen, but the M&P 2.0 showed similar results for reliability and I just like how it fit in my hand better so I went with that.

    Thank you sir!, I've watched dozen of comparison of these two guns and none of the gunners I've watched were willing to choose the M&P over the Glock. I guess they were all afraid of losing there followers or something! I'm in the process of pricing the M&Ps, in my area, Mobile, AL they both the 17rd and the 15rd models are 488.00 plus. I've been "on the fence" trying to decide on the 17rd or the 15rd. The biggest difference I could see was the weight. The 17rd one weighed more, thus should have less recoil, but the 15rd one is more suited for EDC. I also was confused about which one you "experts" were comparing with the G19. Thanks to you, now I know which is which and I'm going to get the 15rd one!!
