I would suggest getting a skateboard bag that can hold the board for you if you don’t feel like doing it. Holding it with the graphics in saves your pants but at the same time you get that weird urge to flip it though
If you wear baggy pants or you carry the board to close to your side which can happen when mall grabbing your more likely to rip your pants but otherwise it’s actually perfectly fine to do. And even the ripping of the pants isn’t that likely.

Mall grabbing is called that way because kids in the 90s used to stand at malls with skateboards as an accessory holding them by the trucks but never used them. Hope this helped.

Tbh I'm always self conscious about what others think cuz if I go somewhere and try to learn tricks WHILE watching a yt video on how to do that trick ppl might think that I'm a poser. But then I remember that I love skating and I don't do it so that others think of me as cool/not a poser but because I like it. I have a few goals with skating and I don’t really care if people think I’m a skater or not, I just do what I find enjoyable. I want to be able to do some tricks like kick flip, board slide, nose and tail slide, and do blunts and melon grabs. Once I achiev those things and can vert drop I don’t care if I never do cooler things and I’m happy with it. I think that’s what skating is about, being happy with where you are and trying your best, setting some goals and having your own style and tricks you like that your comfortable with. Posing is caring how people feel about you and not trying to skate or doing it for your own satisfaction and enjoyment. I skate for me, and with my friends because we love the culture and the feeling. Plus I skate mostly to train for snowboarding honestly. So I don’t lose the feeling over summer. I think as long as you are in it for the right reasons and don’t block other peoples progress you are fine. But what do I know, I can barely land tricks. I mostly just drop in and rock to fakie. Plus my board says tony hawk which is CRINGE. Since I’m not a fan of him, I don’t really deserve his name on my board. So imma try and grind it off skateboarding 😅

Remember this however; we were all at that skill lvl once, don’t let it get you down bc you were a “poser,” think of it as your greatest lesson in life. If skateboarding is anything like literally any other sport that takes practice, the experts can tell if you're just shy because they've been there before. And they don't mind if you fall, and may even offer assistance, because they've been there before. I don't know for certain if its true with boarding, because right now I AM the shy falling kid. But it's definitely true with rock climbing, swimming, workout gyms, etc.

It doesn't matter if you're just starting out, there will skaters at the skate park that will honestly help you get better and gain your confidence, when I was younger I thought the exact same thing, I was about 10 at the time and there was a 6 year old teaching me how to skate, because he seen how bad I was, embarrassing? Yeah, but he taught me well and I will never regret letting a 6 year old teach me.

I think you should try getting over this fear. Skateparks are on of the best places to learn. Just find a guy who seems to know what he's doing and ask him for pointers. I'm sure he'll be more than happy to help you out. If not, fuck him. Find someone else who will teach you. P.s. I've done this many times and no one has ever told me no.

We really are i was learning a kickflip and omg so many people offered to help me its so crazy the positivity at a skate park
They shouldn’t waste money on a board if they aren’t going to use it
Only time I’ve ever taken my board to school and didn’t ride it to or from school was when I was gonna go to the skatepark right after school
