For extra security, the bench comes with a closed ladder design so you can lift with full peace of mind.

    On the basis of this review, I purchased and just received my 4100 REP bench, and after assembling and using it, I couldn't be more impressed. This piece of kit is a monster, in the best sense. Easy to assemble and adjust, masterfully designed, a pleasure to use, and robust in construction, well beyond any conceivable weight requirements I'll ever have. Your comprehensive reviews are much appreciated, and have led to several valuable acquisitions for my home gym. Very glad I found your channel.

    Picked this bench up a few weeks ago and really like it so far. Originally bought the AB-3000 and exchanged it when the 4100 came out like a week later. Very easy to maneuver, feels solid, looks great, and I can stand it up to free up more space when necessary. Glad I exchanged the 3000 for this. Got the white as well.

    • @DampRaccoon
      @DampRaccoon Před 2 lety +8

      @@GarageGymReviews Data would be great. For most that have two benches, it would also be nice to know why. Unless excess space/money, many might have ended up with two not by choice, but by gym build out evolution (e.g. starting with one bench thinking that just a flat or incline would satisfy their needs, but later finding they wanted incline back or that a cheaper adjustable/gap/etc. wasn't preferred for benching. So, knowing if one or two is preferred might be a separate question than what people have. Might place a different perspective on some review aspects but other than that, keep up the great work.

      @@DampRaccoon I am sure my wife and I may be the exception and not the rule, but we hsve 3 set up as different stations in our modest 600sqft basement gym. One lives in the rack, one is a db station and one is leg station. For some of us that have multiple people training at the same time and like having stations ready to go for super sets or time consuming to set up and break down exercises, multiple benches can be very valuable. Setting up your gym with the equipment you need in a manner that fits what is most important to you. For many cost is most important, for some others it is efficiency of time IMO.

      It's a $100 dollar difference. $100 is nothing! You probably spend that a month at Starbucks. For an expensive hobby, home gymers are some of most ridiculous, frugal, penny pinching misers I've ever seen. Nobody got into this hobby to save money. This is one of the most expensive interests you could take up.

    • @plmn93
      @plmn93 Před 2 lety

      @@hitleractually8180 I almost agree. A lot of this equipment will last decades if not a lifetime so why scrimp? But I have saved money with my home gym. My rack is going on 20 years old and the entire family uses it. I have less invested in my gym than what a gym membership would have cost over 20 years for me alone. But in this case it's not really about the money. The 4100 is still a quality bench that will be nicer to use on a daily basis for most people. Heavy benches are annoying, and women and kids often can't deal with them at all. That's why I still have my old PowerBlock bench. It's not the greatest, but it's easy for everybody to use.

    I would wager they plan to increase the price on their AB-5200. Due to inflation, material cost, and shipping they are not keeping the margin they want per unit. Putting out a middle tier option will let them reposition the 5200 as a luxury/commercial grade piece.

    One other difference is that the seat adjustments are supposedly 0/10/20 degrees on the 4100 vs. 0/15/30 on the 5200. Does the limitation of only being able to get to 20 degrees on the 4100 vs. 30 degrees on the 5200 make any real-world difference? Thanks.

    I'd prefer that any incline at 45 degree angle should have a seat that adjusts higher to create a 90 degree " bucket". I'm a paraplegic so I don't have leg or lower back to keep me from sliding forward on a shallow seat bucket...if that makes any sense.

    Looks like a great affordable bench, In my opinion the Ironmaster super bench pro is a better bench and the attachments available are awesome for a home gym.

    I'm looking to buy a bench soon and yeah, Rep has so many models that it's a hard decision. I also see them releasing 2.0 versions. That makes me worried that I might buy the AB-4100 and then 3 months later they come out with a new version that is way better.

    I just received my AB-4100. With all the positive reviews and recommendations online, I have to say I'm very disappointed. I didn't expect it to be as good as the commercial grade benches that they have at my gym but wow this thing wobbles. A lot. The ladder mechanism also makes noise as the bench wobbles when it's set to flat because of the double support design. I tried tightening the bolts as some have suggested online but it didn't help much at all. The problem is the frame itself is not stiff enough and it twists way too much. There are also some defects with the powder coat and stitch work. The only positive that I can say about this bench is it has the right height and the padding is nice. This will be the last REP product for me.

    You mentioned the seat pad angles being 0, 15, and 30 degrees... Was this updated or should it have been 0, 10, 20 like it says on Rep's site?
    +If it is 0, 10, 20, do you / anyone here think that's too shallow for things like a 15 or 30 degree incline press?
