Building my home gym currently. After 17 years of paying for memberships and commuting back and forth, I finally threw in the towel and got annoyed with being around people who can't pick up after themselves.
no you get the privilege of not picking up after yourself!
Welcome home!
@@Noahbdh hahaha. Im too OCD to leave a mess.
Welcome to the community
Congratulations! Public gyms are like laundry mats. As soon as you can afford your own equipment, you should 100% buy it and stay home.
I love the excitement in your voice talking about gym equipment. Nice work, as always.
was thinking the same thing lol
I got the Ares 1.0 because they dropped the price to approximately $800 less than the listed price. I know the 2.0 is much more improved, but I can deal with the low row being so close to the ground and how far apart they are for $800 less. I can't be happier with my purchase.
So how much would I be for the 1.0 out the door with 30+16 rack? Iam really considering selling my titan selectorized lat pull down, my inspire FT and my manticore rack.
I have equipment from both REP and Rogue and love both companies. I'm happy that REP has rack options for basements/garages with low ceilings. The 83" just fits with my ceilings.
Similar situation as this. Does anyone know if a RM-6 can be custom ordered shorter than 90 and still work with the cable system?
REP has been crushing the home gym strength scene for years now. And their new cardio looks innovative too. Rogue is too busy making overpriced bars/plates with nfl stickers. But that doesn't seem to be working since they sold some of their new cable attachments but had to drop their price weeks after launch. Seems desperate.
Coop you've gotta do a video on how you clean your garage gym, and best ways to keep it nice
Leaf blower
literally shopping between these two functional trainers right now. This video came just in time, thanks Coop!
What u getting?
Rogue is made in the USA. Enough said. That’s why I bought it.
I bought REP. They are so far ahead in the cable attachment game and their quality and packaging is really good.
The REP showroom is only like an hour from my house so I'll go check the Ares 2.0 there in person when it gets in at the end of the summer. And probably make a decision after that. I got long arms so the added width of the Rogue might sell it for me
I went the REP route with the PR-5000 rack and limited edition Ares 2.0
I went the REP route with the PR-5000 and limited edition Ares 2.0
I bought mine prior to these announcements. I went with the clear coat 6-post PR-5000 93” height, 41” depth. Selectorized dual Athena with the selectorized lat pulldown and low row + weight stack upgrades, wing add-on dumbbell storage 2.0 on both sides.
How do you like the low row? I’m looking at getting that now for my Athena setup. A gym pin on one stack just isn’t cutting it! 😂
@@reachco_andrew it’s decent. The lat pulldown is better, but the low row is good and does what it needs to do. I recommend an adjustable bench with a decline so you don’t have to sit on the floor.
Perfect video. Rep Ares 2 is designed better for the future
I went with a Rep 6 post rack and the Ares 1 since there was no other option back in 2023 when I built my home gym. Dude…I couldn’t be happier!!
This is the type of video I need. Don’t own a house yet but will circle back😂
Looking for functional trainer with smith machine
Already have a Rogue setup. Emailed their sales and they said they would build out a custom order to make use of my existing stack. So that's the route I'm going.
Dang, I might have to check with them again. I tried a month or two ago and they said they weren’t able to accommodate that yet.
Ares 2.0 for me i appreciate more the 2-1 pulley ratio for some light work 🏋️♀️
I like the comparison. It’s interesting to see the b-roll cuts and camera angles as well. This is like podcast Coop. 💪
dat moustache twirl you got goin is cool af bro, thanks again for another sick video
When you get around to reviewing the Rogue FM, please show how well (or poorly) it works with Rogue's safety straps. I expect they are incompatible (or at least really inconvenient). Thanks Coop!
Thank you for this Coop!
Lfggg been waiting on this one, haven’t even got into the meat of it yet but thank you Coop!
Got the ares 2.0 on pre order first day. Got a rep rack when the first ares came out with the intention to buy the ares in the future. Can’t wait.
Great preview, looking forward to a use comparison video
I have a rogue drop in rhino and I asked about if they could do dual stack on the side with the pulleys. All I would need is for them to make the footplate for the rhino with holes to allow the stacks on, they said they were coming out with something along that design soon.
Exciting stuff
A weight stack loaded rhino would need to start each rep at the bottom, wouldn't it?
I’m interested in this as well. Ordered the FM6-twin and hopefully they can figure out the rhino set up.
@@jamiesoncostello wouldn’t be a weight stack loaded rhino, it would be a normal
Drop in rhino with a 150lbs weight stack on each side of the rack.
You currently can’t do this unless they change the footplate of the rhino to allow the side weight stacks to go on. That footplate covers the attachment points for the guide-rods. I am half tempted to just have mine altered to allow the guide rods to attach
@@cameronharris86 that sounds dope. Curious to hear your thoughts on it
Will report back when it arrives.
REP has been crushing it for years with cable attachments. Ares. Adonis. Arcadia. Lat pull down and low row. Etc. Where rogue has had limited options and the slinger was awful. Maybe they started innovating again. Who knows.
You are a legend, Coop! When are you expecting to have them in for review? This video is v helpful but am waiting for you to use them before deciding.
Currently leaning towards the twin stack FM-HR from Rogue.
Finally the video I’ve been waiting for!!! I’m a bodybuilder so I’m leaning REP for the double pulleys, but I like made in America plus I want a dang belt squat! Might just have to get a standalone lol
I PO’d the ares 2.0
The pullies at the bottom for rogues are just too low seems like they have the same issue the first ares has but also the double cables at for the lat pulldown for reps are something I prefer
Also need to save more space in my garage lol
We are so lucky to have access to this level of engineering at the consumer level. Competition is great!💪🏾
Hands down, I own 3 Rep PR-5000's and can tell you that there is no substitute for variety and co-hesive unity for a rack eco-system... Almost everyone makes compatible attachments for The Rep Eco-system. Once you own the best, you'll understand PERIOD!!!
I went with Rep 2.0 Ares as Rogue doesn’t have a short king version. I wish I had space for the taller one but next house with have the 9 foot ceiling and problem solved. Then I’ll probably just buy taller uprights and then use the shorter ones for storage wings like they’re making now.
I'm so glad there are so many options to choose from with racks nowadays
I hear you. My first home gym in 1990 was crap equipment from Champ sports. Bench broke in just a couple months. The stuff out there now via the internet is just incredible. It's come so far.
Chiken story is funny man lol. Nothing better than having a family and having chickens 🐓 😂😂😂.
Coop, been trying to decide on a functional trainer/smith for like 6 months. Would love to see a review on the 3 in 1 smith from Vesta! That thing looks like a beast. Also, would like to see a comparison on the more budget friendly Spirit B52 from Major Fitness. Hope this comment finds you! Lol
I'm leaning heavily towards Rep. They're built well enough and I like the large amount of options that they have. I can handle slightly inferior craftsmanship as long as it is still quality work.
Been waiting for this one since Rep came out with theirs - was waiting for Rogue to introduce one and wait on your review - lol 1year+ wait lol
I’m not in the market, I just enjoy watching reviews from the Monopoly guy. 😂
Coop, one aspect of 49" vs 47" that I don't see mentioned often is if you're tall or long-limbed having a wider inside can allow more elbow/knee room for benching and squatting and not hitting the safeties with wider stances/positions. I'm 6ft tall and MUCH prefer a wider interior rack, the small size difference is actually quite noticeable in use.
I hear ya. I'm not even six foot, have Rogue's RM6 and even with the 49" width I find myself occasionally making contact with my safeties during certain exercises, certain positioning etc. I can't imagine what things might be like with less interior width, even if it's only two inches. Right now, it's a rare occurrence and more of a distraction when it does happen. With two less inches I could see it potentially being a problem.
love this! as a current RM-6 + drop in belt squat owner, has Rogue hinted when they will release a version of the functional trainer that integrates with this setup?
I'm waiting for your in depth review to pull the trigger on one of these.
What about Prime Fitness Rack, would you pick that over these two? Thank You!
I feel you Basement Brandon. -Basement Sam
Would love to see you compare the Force USA G15 Pro with these 2!
The Rogue twin stack and Rep Ares 2.0 can both be the same distance from the wall if using the rear columns for weight storage.
you need to do a follow-up on Kensui: they are scammers. They took my money in MAY and kept giving me the runaround on shipping. It still hasn't shipped, and now they are refusing to give my money back (I got the maxes btw). I'm not the only one. I got them based on your endorsement, but they are scammers. You need to do a follow-up stating that many of their customers have been stiffed.
I'm still waiting for a Rhino weight stack version 😮💨
Rogue 4-post, 100”, FM-HR.
‘Merica.
Thanks Coop for your hard work and enthusiasm. You’ve become a trusted source for equipment education in a not-so-trustworthy world.
The FM HR (single stack) is completely irrelevant unless the rhino is very important to the user. It's unnecessarily deep (+22") meanwhile the Twin is comparable to the Ares and is only 5" deeper. If you're going to use the back posts for plate storage, then the Ares and Twin are equal but the single stack sticks out beyond your plate storage.
Still waiting on the 4 post twin FT add on to drop. They only have the FM-6 twin add on available. If they have the 4 post twin FT available with the uprights, they should sell it without the uprights as well since some of us can convert our existing racks.
You can reach out to Rogue directly for a quote on a 4 post. They quoted me $3150 + tax for 100” height, 24” depth, aluminum pulleys with the shrouds.
@@BrandonSchwartz1 That's just the same price as the FM-6 twin add on even though there's less extension pieces. That said, it matches up with the FML HR (SS) 4 post add on compared to the FML HR 6 (SS) post add on.
@@momotart no idea 🤷♂️
Really love to see Freemotion arms on rogue twin stack. Waiting for reviews on twin stack released. I really wonder if someone with space and a rack already should just get a free motion though. No savings and more space really.
Thank goodness I'm not ready to buy one yet because now I'm not sure which one to get. Didn't realize Rogue was that close in price!
Man love your reviews and videos. Building my gym and now I'm to the functional trainer. Last basic piece. I need help my problem is I am 6'10" with a 7 foot wingspan. Any clue on which functional trainer will be best for me because I would love something compact but I'm way too big for it I think. Any suggestions would be helpful
Coop! Could you do a Force USA leg press review please? Side by side review of the compact and full size versions.
I have an RM-3 currently, so I'm leaning toward Rogue so that I don't have to sell it and buy a whole new rack. Rogue quoted me ~$4,800 (after tax and shipping) for the conversion kit to the FM-6 Twin stack, and that's also including the $300 rack roller that looks really useful
I wish when I got my squat rack 3 years ago, that this many options were around
I messaged rogue about the dual stack (on two different occasions) and was told the individual stacks will be 150lbs each totaling the same as the single stack.
Also as a side note, the plate loaded has a 800lbs weight limit. The limiting factor being the cable.
To add more context, I order the single stack with 300lbs weight stack. I was told the twin stack is the same as the single stack just with two 150lbs stacks* vs a 300lbs stack on the single.
With all the talks of a rhino drop in for the FM series, I wonder how that will work with only a 300lbs stack. I was also told the plate loaded has a 800lbs weight limit (the cables being the limiting factor).
It seems the best bet would be opt for plate loaded to prepare for the Rhino drop in as this would allow up to 800lbs for a belt squat. I am thinking of changing my single stack to either the plate loaded or dual stack. I plan to call Rogue tomorrow to discuss further. Curious to hear others thoughts.
*the two 150lbs stacks came from Rogue customer service on two different occasions.
I am poised and ready to buy whichever one comes to Australia first. C'mooooooon!!!!!!!
Can you do an updated Rogue Rhino review/ overview? You always say you love it but what is it that makes you love it so much? Would you recommend stand-alone or add-on that’s coming out?
How do they compare to the Prime Prodigy 1 HLP selectorized rack?
We want dip attachement comparaison
I’ve been wanting to upgrade for years now so these are awesome to see. Do you know if anything they offer is compatible with a Sorinex Base Camp? What is your opinion on the REP Hyperion and Sorinex Apex style racks compared to the two in these videos? Do you think the smaller footprint is significantly more limiting with exercises?
I would really like to see you get a hold of the plate loaded rogue FM and see how belt squats work with it. it looks like you could just attach a belt to the low row and it would work. the selectorized doesn't look like it would work for it though as the stack goes to far into the rack and too close to the low row mount
For the Rogue if you have a 43" depth rack and small lever arms, can you just put the lever arms on the middle uprights?
Regarding cable placement (and, obviously, acknowledging that one cable will be on the front of the upright and the other will be behind), Coop mentioned that he prefers the Rep configuration (lower cable is on the front of the rack). I wish he had acknowledged that this could be problematic for spotter arms extended from the front of the rack (and yes, i know there are workaround solutions, such as lowering the trolley below the spotter arms - or - mounting the spotter arms from an inside-out orientation). Still, for most purposes, it seems the Rogue setup is better for spotter arms.
Big question on the Rogue side is will they deliver to a residence. When pricing out a cable tower system for my garage gym, Rogue said I'd either need a loading dock or had to rent a fork lift for any of their non-slinger stack options. Rep didn't seem to have those limitations. Kind glad I waiting to pull the trigger to see these newer options though and might have to reconsider my choices... then convince the wife too.
I ordered the FM6-twin. Do you think they’ll be able to figure out the Rhino drop in for the twin stack version?
I love Rogue products and customer support. I also love Reps products customer support and how freaking fast my items fly in. Don’t make me choose between them. I love my Rogue Rep Frankenstein rack. Keyholes allowed me to utilize 5/8 holes and there’s basically no attachment that doesn’t fit.
Coop, when talking about Jammer arms relative to Rep cables coming from the bottom of the front upright vs Rogue coming from the top, do you think Rep will be coming out with Jammer arms that are able to use the cable/stacks vs. plates?
When are you going to come out with the griffin lever arm review?
Hey Coop have you tried out the The Powertec FID Bench?
can you make a video on the crandall fitness jammer arms!
Ok great video, but knowing what you know right now what would you choose??!?
Please review the Wide Body Bench and the attachments.
Coop we need the CTM-1 vs Adonis
When rep or rogue has an option with a smith machine built in, I'll buy then
REP currently is my only option as a basement dweller. I'm hoping for a smith machine attachment similar to what ForceUSA has as that would be a peak home gym rack.
I bought the Rogue add-on dual stack functional trainer for my monster rack. I bought it with zero reviews posted. It will supposedly be here in 2-3 weeks. I’m excited but also worried.
I did the same in late May. Looking forward too its arrival. Not worried at all, becoming impatient! I expect mine in 2-3 weeks as well.
Id like to see a comparison with the Maxum SX2.
Yeah, GGR is way too fixated on Rep and Rogue. The articulating cable arms on the SX2 and ATX Monster 2.0 make both these racks look outdated already
Really curious about the cable travel for the 100” single stack. Rogue lists the cable travel as 100” for single pull and 50” per hand for a double pull. I feel like this is adequate for most exercises but it’s a costly chance to take.
I keep seeing ads on Facebook and IG from GMWD fitness, is their equipment any good? Any plans to review them?
LETS GOOOO!!!
When will you review Jacked Up Brands/Fitness?
Does the difference in upright sizing (3" vs 75mm) make much of a difference if you're going off-brand for items that fit onto the uprights, like j-cups, roller bars, bench attachments, etc.?
Why doesn’t Rogue sell a twin functional trainer “add-on” option for 4 post monster racks. I messaged Rogue about this and they basically said that I had to convert my rack to a 6 post or buy the entire functional trainer. Thanks for supporting customers who bought into your monster ecosystem… make it make sense.
Agreed. they sell a 4 post twin FT but won't sell it as an add on.
Message them again and talk to custom order department. They quoted me $3150 + tax for 100” height, 24” depth, aluminum pulleys and shrouds for my 4 post monster rack
@@BrandonSchwartz1 Thanks!
What are your thoughts on the Griffin lever arms?
I'm going with Rogue. I think for the money you get just a little more.
Have you used the Rogue cable system?
What do you think of the Griffin monolifts?
I wonder how the Ares2 and Prx jammer arms will work together
I might have missed it, but what's the difference between the Rogue single vs double stack? Can you do double arm cable exercises with the single stack, or is that only something you can do with the double.
For my money it’s rogue all day. I’m impressed with that price too! Moving into a bigger shop space soon and will definitely be adding something like the rogue and adding the rhino 💯
For the belt squat version, how is it hooking up to the functional trainer?
Website does not do a good job of depicting this.
Can you review elitefts and Force USA racks?
When will Ares 2.0 be available for purchase in EU?
Yup I’m stilling deciding on the 2. I would be buying everything from 1 company. After watching the video , the fact rogue might have lowered thier price to compete where as rep has definitely increased price. I leaning towards rogue now
2.0 is same price as 1.0 has been for two years. Not bad considering inflation
I have a landmine to do hack squats in my living room, a Rep adjustable bench, and Nuobells. Do I really need a squat rack?
When do you think we'll get a First Impression video on the Rogue FM?
initially i was going down this rabbit hole of kitting my workout gear with the largest rogue equipment. now im downsized to a 5/8 rack system. dumbbells. barbells. adj bench. only thing left for me is a functional trainer of sorts and i'm looking hard at:
dialed motion (full functional +durability +cable implementation)
bulletproof vts (hi+lo+smith)
bully glyder
syl but not seriously a consideration anymore as it's weight capacity is limited
no weight stacks for me to deal with. easy to modify and move.
pass on the voltra i. it's better powered and has fragile direct drive motor that will die and an easy to fray cord.
When are you getting your hands on these?
I really want one of them to make some sort of insertable smith machine attachment.
Bulletproof fitness VTS
I want a drop in rhino for the monster lite
Are they going to make a twin stack for the monster lite version?
Bulletproof vts lite and vts review when???
Please 🙏🏾
