I would love to see a full adjustable bench round up! These two are out of my budget, so it would be really helpful to see a current comparison of some lower priced offerings.
Nobody wants to see cheap garbage
I’d suggest the bells of steel Buzzsaw bench. In Canadian it’s 550$ but as heavy duty as these benches and has a leg extension/curl attachment
@@mackvestersfitness4786 thanks for the rec! I was looking at that one and the Rep AB4100.
I like my ironmaster super bench with dip and leg extension attachments
Shits cool
@@zombielord555
The pizza wedge seat on the ironmaster sucks major ass.
I have owned the BlackWing since it was released. I pre-ordered it in March. I absolutely love it! It does everything I could ever want a bench to do. I do agree, it is a heavy bench. At 54 years old I can still move this around no problem. If you are in the market for a top tier bench then look no further than the BlackWing. You will NOT be disappointed. Thanks for the great review Coop! V/R Shane
I’m looking at the blackwing for the decline feature and storage.. how do u find the weight to lift up the bench and ease of moving it around? Also, do u find the decline stable at higher decline levels?
@@pottsy1907 I find the weight of the bench manageable. I am 54 and I don’t have any issues moving it around. This is a heavy bench when compared to many others, but its not too heavy. This is an incredibly stable bench. You will love doing decline work on this thing. You will need the leg attachment if you plan to do anything beyond 8 degrees or so. Good luck.
I love ROGUE and their offerings. But $1000+ for the Manta Ray is nutty.
Yup. Ironic that some CZcamsrs have videos on how to build a homegym with $1000 and this thing is the same price lol
Yeah but I think the days are gone for building a home gym for $1000 is long gone. Unless you are buying the absolute cheapest stuff.
@@bmstylee Yea, I think the least you can spend with the cheapest stuff and a decent barbell is like $2000 for a home gym. Mainly because of the cost of weights.
I chose the Rogue Manta over the REP purely because I saw in another comparative review the foot catch was way beefier on the Rogue than the REP and this is a feature that was important to me.

I know everyone wants to keep comparing these two because they’re new. But I feel like the black wing would be better compared to the rogue adjustable 3.0. Since they are in the same price point and, I think, would make more sense for most of us. Especially since the manta ray seems to be out of most people’s budgets
Yeah, I honestly think this blackwing would smoke the AB 3.0.
I agree with you. The rogue bench is an insane amount of money, and you have to buy the foot rollers. I own the rogue 3.0 bench, even that was up there in price. I love it though.
The Bobblehead Coop thumbnails always get me, I love those.
Great video as ever, guys!
Cancelled my order of the Rep AB5200 2.0 when I saw your Blackwing review. Got a Blackwing as my first bench and I like it a lot. I’ve learned I prob won’t need a zero gap feature if I ever need to buy another bench but I’m really happy with my purchase.
The Rogue's teeth for adjusting the bench really shows it is a higher quality product and attention to detail over the REP with just two sets of teeth and an empty gap in between. I really like the zero gap feature on the REP even though I would probably never use it. But I don't think I could justify it to myself spending an extra $400 for the Rogue.
i'd love to see a new adjustable bench roundup, and if you could add a category for benches that allow for nordic curls that would be extremely helpful
You can do nordics on the Rep bench with the add-on foot roller.
REP confirmed on Instagram that they are going to offer it in a clearcoat colorway and not to mention that 14in wide pad option. I love Rogue, but gonna be hard to justify this one.
Do people generally prefer clear coat as the colors chip? Isn’t the clear coat just the boring shiny polished chrome look?
Dude their clear coat is to die for. I have both AB-5000ZG and FB-5000 in matching clear coat. Finest pieces of metal machinery I’ve ever owned and they look freaking amazing. I have been waiting for clearcoat Blackwing since the winter!
Great review. Just ordered a PR-5000 w/ a Blackwing bench using your link.
Hey, Coop. Been watching awhile. Just subscribed. Great comparison, great channel.
Love how clueless Coop is to which bench is on which side of the green screen
Fact
Really glad I watched this. I was ready to buy the Blackwing, but decided to go with made in America. Can't bitch about all of our jobs going overseas if you're not willing to pay the higher price for American labor. Let's face it, it costs more to live in America than in China. Since I'm buying this to pair with a Speede Challenger, I'm not quibbling over a few hundred dollars difference.
As long as the seat can be raised to make a 90-degree "cradle" for my incline bench seating needs, I'm good with it.
I just picked up a Body Solid commercial grade adjustable for 350 bucks. All welded construction, commercial warranty. It is nicely finished with a heavy duty gray paint, compact, and built like a tank. Worth a look.
Wow dude I bought the Rogue AB-2 with the rollers and it came in ONE BOX!
Crazy that their new flagship bench comes in multiple boxes
Great video and always enjoy watching these comparisons. I did notice at time stamp 10:54/10:55, Coop talks about quality (made in the USA versus imported) . He labels the Blackwing as Rogue and Manta Ray as REP. I did a double take and thought "Rogue offers the Manta Ray in blue?". I went with the Manta Ray due to shipping availability to Hawaii. Again love the videos and enjoy them watching them when I am away from my home gym.
Yup I caught it too. Looked in the comments to see if I'm not mistaken another instance he pointed over his shoulder at the wrong one too. 🤷♂️ we all make mistakes lol.
Coop great comparison. I’m coming from the AB-3 and the gap is something I’m looking to move from. Would love to see you compare these benches with Irwin Fitness and Stray dog Strength. Both benches come at the same price point but I’m stuck in my decision. Thanks again for the great work!
For vertical stability, it'd be nice to get a wall-mount "seat belt" strap that could easy just clip around it to hold it up. Just some nylon strapping and a plastic press clip would do it.
People always say that they are willing to pay more if it's made in America (if it's good quality) but when it comes down to it they usually aren't. 🤣🤷♂
I'm pretty picky when it comes to new purchases. When you were comparing the upholstery of these benches, the Rep bench already had a tear in its upholstery on the side corner of it. This may not bother a lot of people, but tears in the upholstery just keep growing. Maybe As'Sam"bly Sam did it with his box cutters when he opened it.
was thinking the exact some thing. OCD warriors unite!
I agree, although I love Rogue and to take nothing away from them. If someone is on a budget, which most are, Rep is the better value. That being said, I would add one more thing that Rep has over Rogue, if I am not mistaken, that Rep offers a 14" wide pad on their incline bench and for me having a wide back is helpful.
Thank you for the review.
You are correct - extra $20 for a 14” width pad.
I preordered the blackwing in blue and have had it for a couple months now. It’s awesome. I can’t even imagine a bench being better than this one no matter how much you spend. It’s better than any bench I’ve used at a commercial gym.
I’m looking at the blackwing for the decline feature and storage.. how do u find the weight to lift up the bench and ease of moving it around? Also, do u find the decline stable at higher decline levels?
@@pottsy1907 It mostly comes down to how much space you have. It is a little heavy but if you have a decent amount of room it’s not a big deal. I was using it in a 10’ x 12’ room and it was a little awkward moving it around but now I have it in my garage and it’s not an issue at all.
The entire bench is extremely stable at any angle both incline and decline.
I have a RepAB 5200, these benches are so long the zero gap makes no difference to me. I set up for the bench press on the back pad and I’m 5’10”. I would definitely buy Rep again, best bang for your buck.
Great video, but Rep was on your right and Rogue on your left. Lol😊
As a french citizen, i have not the choice, only rogue sell product in my country, so, i go for rogue manta ray.
@garagegymreviews do you have an affiliate link for Rogue Europe? People (myself included) have been watching your videos for all their inspiration and feel it's only right to use an affiliate link if you've got one for the European version of the store.
This channel has been a huge difference for us home gym lovers, both in terms of entertainment and information!
I feel a bit like a dummy asking, but how do you mount the manta ray decline with your legs so high up in the air. With dumbbells as well? Seems like a work out unto itself.
It's fine for decline barbell work, but with dumbbells it's infinitely easier to set up if you own dumbbell spotters of some kind
I own the rogue adjustable bench 3.0, and it’s a great bench. I’m looking into the rep black wing, only because when doing incline bench inside my rep pr5000 it’s kinda a hassle to get the rogue bench into place. The vertical beam which the back pad rests on in the flat position gets in the way, because I have the rear base stabilizer. The black wing does not have that vertical beam.
Wanted to request an idea. Since there have been so many reviews on benches, have you thought about doing a top ten list in ranking order?
Ps that would be nice for any piece of equipment.
Thanks for listening.
I love the idea of made in the USA, but 1,200 USD is outrageous for a bench. In this case price speaks louder when the differences are minor, so I'll probably end up upgrading to the blackwing when the times comes, unless something better... cue the pun... rolls around.
It's absolutely nuts that the best home gym youtube channel has only 445k subscribers. Beautiful video even though I can't even afford either bench. Home gym growth isn't even close to reaching it's pinnacle, there's so much room for growth if people cared more about their personal fitness and health.
I think people care more about fitness now than ever before. But most people don't have the room or money for a home gym. It's hard to justify a home gym when Planet Fitness is $10 a month. As far as home gym growth, it's gotten soooooooo bougie!!!!! So many small companies popping up, offering stainless steel knurled specialty items. I can buy stainless knurled grips for my landmine attachment handles. It's getting pretty ridiculous.
I want the Manta Ray. But I'll be damn if I spend that much for a boring black bench. Please add sone freaking to the benches Rogue. Y'all already know
Looks like a few of us caught then incorrectly placed flag on the benches when you talked about country of origin. Other than that great comparison. Would like to see some Irwin fitness reviews
Super Bench Pro beats both, major adjustability and so many attachments
Both seem like great benches but like you said $400 less is a huge difference, and you get the color options with Rep.
Tons of things like that in their videos that clearly show whoever is doing the editing doesn’t lift or understand the products being discussed.
Still holding out for a leg press/hack squat video …I’m looking at ForceUSA full sized combo for reference 😂
Coop, how could you give the pad to rogue when you said in the manta review that you didn't like that it only had the smaller pad and you can get the larger pad on the rep?
Thompson vinyl. Clean out your ears.
you picked the one I own!!! 🙂
Hey Coop - first thanks for helping me build out the basement gym. Great resource, I appreciate it. Wanted to know - you always suggest power racks, adjustable benches etc - but never Olympic style bench press benches. (one piece bench/bench press rack setup) - wonder if there is a reason why?
Because he’s speaking to the garage gym market who have limited square footage and a dedicated fixed bench press takes up a ton of space for a single purpose which doesn’t make sense.
@@drewplural Thanks Coop.
Coop, can you do a review on the rogue donkey please.
Comparing these two to both the Stray dog alpha and Irwin fitness bench!
Wack
Rep’s vinyl is already torn at 12:30 wow
Could be a mfg defect.
How many times do you have to see that hairy mustache kiss the equipment?
Lol, I wasn't aware mustaches came in hairy and non-hairy varieties.
Do an AB4100 vs AB5200 review and the Crandall Fitness Free Motion Lever Arms!
I would like to see a review of Bodycraft 730 rft pro rack. I can’t find much reviews online
Did you realize that you marked Rogue as imported and Rep's as Made in the USA? Hopefully that didn't persuade anyone the other direction LOL.
Great coop took my luggage scale idea
I have the Blackwing. It’s awesome
Hi Coop! Can you do a review on Prime Fitness Shorty bench with its attachments? I’m trying to figure out what to buy.
Coop, you're talking about how good the vinyl is on the benches and as you're pushing down on the Rep bench pad I can see the pad is torn or cut. What's with that?
Full adjustable bench round up please.
As soon as my dad's old adjustable Marcy bench breaks then I'll just go to Walmart and buy an adjustable golds gym bench. Might never happen though.
Sup Coop. How do you think these compare to your old fav the Prime bench?
the manta ray is on another
level, their 3.0 bench is like the same
bench as the black wing but usa made
When are you going to review the Irwin Fitness adjustable bench?
@repfitness make the clear coat version of the black wing and take my money!
💯💯💯
I have even looked on the website, and didn’t find a rogue donkey review.
Made in America should be priority 🇺🇸
The Mirafit M460 is a very close competitor to these two benches at £549.
UK.
That includes the leg roller attachment & Zero gap.
Call me nutty, but the lack of two tone color options (like the AB 5200 2.0) makes me sour on the Blackwing lol
Meanwhile Rogue is the Apple of home gym equipment: charging people outrageous prices bc they can. Screw that
editing on this is a bit off. seem to keep getting rogue and rep mixed up with the graphics, the gesturing, the cuts, and even the call outs
Rep offers a wide pad version. That alone is the difference maker for me.
I have the rogue so hope it wins lmao if not, all good. I love it 😂
I have no doubt it's the better, nicer bench. Whether or not it's worth the price premium is a personal choice. One thing I do like about the China manufactured bench is the ability to decline without the need for the foot catch. That would come in handy for certain exercises. I guess you could prop up one end of the Manta Ray using a bumper plate etc. I have Rogue's AB-3 and can't really imagine upgrading considering what I paid for that bench. I'm sure Rogue's foot catch is also much nicer in comparison to what is currently being offered by the Chinese manufacturers.
I want to order from rep fitness but they don't deliver to Hawaii, coup can you convince rep fitness to deliver to Hawaii
I wish I was friends with Coop and lived in the same town, so I could prank him by just making random objects around his house that have handles knurled. Coffee cups, door handles, railing on the stairs in his house, toilet paper 😮
Do you think the Buzz-saw is in the conversation - at least for value? Seems like it comes close to the others for just $500 - with some good attachment options coming (apparently).
Hell no. Wack
Round up !!
I'm going to get the Blackwing... In red.
I’m saving up for the iron master super bench pro. Decline on it looks good for sit-ups.
this rouge bench is totally commercial i bet most of the benches we see in commercial gyms probably cost the same or more than the manta ray but are far worse in comparison over 1k for a bench for a home gym is just silly that money can be much better spent on other things
somebody has to tell Coop which bench is on his left/right... or maybe use a different bg pic that matches which way he points when he says rogue/rep
Does anyone know if Rogue's leg roller attachment fit the Rep's Blackwing?
What about the Stray Dog Strength Alpha Bench vs these two?
A bench characteristic dear to me is how grippy the padding is.
If your upper back slides during pressing, your arch is gone.
I have to set a band around the bench in commercial gyms to be safe.
I would appreciate it if you expand on that moving forward, Coop.
Keep up the great work!
There’s a mention to this around the 12:15 mark, preference is with the Rogue as it’s using the grabber vinyl from the Thompson fat pad
I bought a blue BlackWing.
2:27 “relatively large in comparison to the competition”.
That’s what she said.
Let me ask you this, have you tried the wide 14in pad on the Rep. Would it limit your movement pressing
I have 14” wide pad on my AB-5000ZG; love it and I’m going to get the same in Blackwing.
Depends how wide your shoulders are. If your broad shoulders get the wide
It bothers me that he keeps pointing to the wrong bench. 😂
I wouldn't mind paying more for Rogue. But they are simply not delivering the innovation that REP is.
Rep 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
This feels like an import vs American guitar review
Lol whoever does the edits put the USA flag over the rep bench not the Rogue one 😂
U won’t buy both of them for ur garage because it too heavy. Do u any suggestions brand we should buy that give us the same concept like these 2
So is it me or did they put the American Flag over the Rep bench and not Rogues??
You should do a review on the TYTAX® T1-X - a professional Home Gym, its a very interesting piece of equippement.
I bear hug my AB-5000, one wheel gave out.
What does that even mean lol
Just found out I've been lifting my benches all wrong using a bear hug! Guess I'll try using the built in handles now.
What about prime’s?
Guys, you got the American flag and "imported" stickers around the wrong way.
i had to stop video and comment: I NEED TO BEAR-HUG my bench to move it in my tiny homegym. the weight is 36kg and looking for something around 25kg in europe markets
3rd competitor would be prime fitness adjustable bench in terms of value.
Wack
I think knurled grip on the handles for these is not appropriate. When you reach down and pick them up, they rotate around the pivot point (wheels). So by design, the handle should be rotating in your hand. Meanwhile, it’s not like they weigh enough to need the knurling in the first place. Anyways…just my thoughts on that
Where is the REP made?
REP!!
Perfect example of equal products between REP and Rogue but Rogue has an extremely higher price.
It's like this going down through 97% of each ones inventory!!!!!!
It’s like one is made in the USA and the other is made in China
you did not mention accesroies
I would love to see you compare it to the irwin fitness bench and the stray dog alpha bench
Wack
Want a new roundup including anything new from Prime
