I believe the story she is telling is as follows. Both her parents are deceased and she is about to marry. She has gone down to the river where the spirits dwell (the dancers) to commune with her mother. She's sad because she enters this marriage without blessings.
You can find lyrics online - but they differ so I have no idea which one is accurate. But I believe that is the gist of the story.

The song rechenka or little river, is a Russian folk song, even before Christianity, that an orphan girl comes to the river and prays to the spirits of nature. The song is about the fact that my mother, father and brothers were killed by the enemies, there is no one to take care of her.
There are about 30 variants of this song, but the basis of the content of each of the variants is the sad appeals of the orphan bride to her deceased parents, asking them for "blessings" and help for marriage, for a family to strangers.
There are other versions of this song, where the heroine appeals to her brothers, and even to her parents, with a call to return to earth in the form of a bird to her native home.
At the end of the song, the girl sails away to a strange tribe, to a strange family.
This song appeared before 900 AD, before the Russians sailed to conquer Constantinople and converted to Christianity. The roots of the song are in pagan Russia, it is a very, very old folk folklore.
And since Diana is an orphan herself, this topic is very close to her. When Diana sang this song, she was only 14 years old.

This video is from Russian show " You are Super!" Diana was only 14 y.o when she took part in it. You can easily find this video on CZcams and look how many views it has for three years.
That part right after the creepy voice is the very definition of a ‘power walk’. Stage presence in spades.
As to backstory she was originall beaten and belittled by her mother, got in an orphanage at the age of four I think, adopted and could barely speak and mostly nonverbal. Foster mother got her singing lessons. To say she blossomed would be somewhat of an understatement.
