Diana had a tough childhood but thanks to her foster mother Irina Ponik (you can see her on the video, woman in the glasses) everything has changed for the better! So she can translate the soul of the song 🎵 and we can get all wonderful 👏 emotions! Thanks a lot for your honest reaction! Like 👍
Here are some performances prior to Rechenka and at ages 10 to 14 including a masterful yodeling performance! At age 13 she sings a song in Spanish titled “ me voy” with such emotional impact it brings tears. incredible performance. She’s more than a singer. She’s an actress and has the best contralto voice in the world. The sound quality was excellent. You will be in awe when you watch and hear her at age 14 on a riverboat cruise ship giving an hour long performance highlighted with her amazing performance mostly in English of a 1920s cabaret song by the famous composer Irving Berlin called “ Puttin On The Ritz” . Not only does she kill it with her vocal electrifying expressions and dance moves but I will not spoil the SURPRISE
that will knock you off your chair ( a 12 second teaser she gives the audience that the late great Fred Astaire would be smiling down on her from heaven). She also performed “ Besame Mucho “ & “ Feeling Good” aboard the same ship. ship.
Also when she won her “you are super” contest she performed a song written by Lara Fabian titled “ Tomorrow Is A Lie” accompanied on the piano by the famous composer Igor.
She sings it in English and the meaning of this song is so spiritual to me: “ only here and now... Tomorrow is a Lie “ ( all that exists is the next moment).
And finally, I hope you someday react to her first Russian Voice appearance prior to “ You Are Super” where the chairs were traditionally turned backward where the judges could not see the performer.
Diana gave an incredible masterful tour de force on Yodeling but when it was over not one judge Turned Their Chairs. In any other Voice kids contest around the world all 4 chairs would have turned within the first minute.
But as soon as these Russian judges turned after it was finished , the audience gave Diana a 5 minute Standing Ovation ( even the judges clapped and gave her a standing ovation). It was later revealed that the contest was “ fixed” and the winner was already predetermined. Caused a corrupt scandal! And if you continue to watch the judges reaction ( in Russian) about near the end they ask Diana to perform another song and she KILLS IT ( a French song). And the woman judge felt so guilty and shameful that after Diana finished the French song , not only did she bury her face and cover it with her arms but also invited Diana to go on stage with her a few days later when the woman judge was giving a concert and Diana sang a song. ( there’s a video of this).

It's great when a reactor like you appreciates art like this. Some don't get Rechenka at all and don't notice and appreciate all the little nuances this performance brings.
Diana can sing, dance, perform musicals, act in movies or even portray your favorite character in your favorite soap opera if she wishes! She's the real real. :)
I am a little sad that the channel cut the beginning of the song and the judges reactions afterward. Diana ran to her adoptive mom (the lady wit the glasses) and hugged her. The song was so difficult to get through for her, she cried.

This is an old wedding ritual song, it's like a puzzle, it consists of phrases taken from ritual songs. Where it is sung in a whisper is like the words of a deceased mother, because in Russia since ancient times it was believed that the river is the border between the world of the living and the dead, as in the mythology of others countries. So the girl-orphan came to the river to tell the mother that she was being given away for the unloved, to a strange family, ask for blessings and cry.

There's nothing in the lyrics that Diana sings that lend to her addressing her mother. She mentions her parents only to say, "I have neither father nor mother, there is no one to bless me." She wouldn't be saying that if she was talking to her mother.

This and her rendition of It's a Man's world are my favorites...Her Ornery Horses never fails to tear me up, funny cause early on learning the song she was told she was too young to express the necessary emotions for that song...LOL guess she showed them.

One of the best performances I've ever seen......period! Thanks again. Ps Ornery Horses is a must, but please check the background of the original artist and lyrics, its needed to appreciate the depth and content of the song. Its just as good as Rechenka. I can not hold my tears when Diana performs Ornery Horses......every time.

OK, first remember that Diana spent some time in an orphanage from 3yo then I'll give you a much compressed explanation of the song "Rechanka" or "River" - "A young orphan girl is being given away in marriage to the unloved. She goes to the river (Rechenka) - (the barrier between life and death) to ask her dead mothers’ blessings for a marriage that will not be a happy one. The spooky voice is her dead mum answering back! The mood of the song changes and we hear the children in the yard playing and laughing, asking why the girl is so sad. Then she cries uncontrollably as she is lifted into the boat to be taken to her wedding with resignation for a sad life."
Diana dropped this from her repertoire briefly because it's a very difficult song emotionally for her to sing (Understandably). However so many people asked where is the song "Rechenka"? I've seen your early videos and note have that you do a very good job with your analysis/reaction. You comment on things that many others do not (eg in this case Diana's yodeling, decrescendo, etc.). I hope that astute people notice and that you gain more subscribers. Keep doing what you are doing, and continue exploring different singers and genres- there are so many great singers out there that you will appreciate. Love Morissette, Diana, Pentatonix, etc.

1) So Hyang (South Korea)- one of the most technically flawless and greatest female singers today who is relatively unknown because she sings for God and to comfort others not for fame and money; has gospel roots and is queen of the mixed voice.. Knowledgeable and experienced vocal teachers marvel at her technique and emotion. Suggest 1) Arirang Alone; 2) Bridge Over Troubled Water (Simon and Garfunkel); 3) I Have Nothing (Whitney Houston). Her performances are mini-masterpieces
2) Hua Chenyu (China) - one of the most creative singers I have ever met, has no genre- sings rock, rap, adds art in his performances, Suggest 1) Nunchucks; 2) Child

К ней претензий нет, но её напарники по дуэту не потянули. Пока нет ещё голоса совместимого с ней. Ей лучше пока петь одной. Да, насчёт принца и Золушки: я как услышал ее голос - больше принца не слушаю.

Gabbsi, it's great to see your reaction to this phenomenally talented young women, who has been through so much, and expresses all of her emotions through song. Another musical genre you might find interesting is the Mongolian band called "HU". They perform with a mix of traditional and modern electric instruments, and sing with traditional throat singing as well. A good mix is their 2019 Covid relief concert. They also redid a couple of their songs in collaboration with modern artists. Hope you find them worthwhile.
This performance transcends all languages. Human is another great performance she does.

You are quite correct - Diana took part in several children's musicals and has the experience of singing in them.
Strongly recommend your reacting to "Human" by Diana. The atavistic primal sound of her natural voice is showcased in all its power. In an interview Diana said it is an easy song for her as she can do it in her natural voice, no manipulations, no strain. To me it has some of the kind of sound you seem to enjoy most. It is all in the register of a Dramatic Contralto, the rarest of female voices.

If you love Jodeling, you owe it to yourself to watch Diana perform Jodel Time on Russia's version of The Voice Kids. She was just 13 years old when she performed this. The judges have her sing a second song so don't stop too soon.
