Hi Craig I’ve got the bms for my 14s battery according to vruzend bms video the black balance wire goes to the negative terminal like the black one on bms thick one.so I connect the next red balance wire to same cell positive then alternate along battery to the positives .i did 7 red wires then wire to 8th one an smoke appears from bms area so I disconnect last one I made smoke stops .tried again after rechecking connections to see no shorts and same again smoke so I don’t know what I’ve done wrong so I’ve disconnected bms for now.battery still reads 54v just charged up with bulk charger.used battery on ebike gave 22mph and just dropped 4volts after 5miles so battery good .any ideas maybe faulty bms .is that the right way for balance wires ?steve

Yes it individual cells I checked to make sure so I have 10dead cells out of 70 would the bms do that and maybe a faulty
One after just a2 mile run or maybe if they just worked loose would it drain them quick ?

And a Panasonic row that wasn’t contacting measured ok 3.7 to 3.8v they were from nkon but same capacity but were bit cheaper

So I still have 36v battery connected an a good row of 5 to connect back up .

Shaun my battery lost power so I took off bike I actually dropped on a hard floor but when I tested 2 rows were dead after I squeezed together more as vruzend kit.one row of 5 cells are 0,0,0.5,0.03, and 0v .and they were brand new cells.i had bms on the one that had smoked but when I wired up whole kit it was charging up ok .so has bms done this ?they were brand new cells from nkon

Sorry for your difficulty! By two rows do you mean one parallel group? If so, the cell that had 5 volts was not part of that group- not connected- or else it would be 0 volts too. Is it possible that you got your series/parallel mixed up when assembling? If the cells were genuine new that is the most likely explanation. The BMS would have to allow a group of cells to really go high and stay high to wreck them- even if it failed that is not likely to cause the dead cells as long as your charging voltage was right....

hi shaun how much is your batterybloc kit for my 14s5p kit.i dropped the battery .well it fell from my bike rack and the plastic bits are loose.not very sturdy like yours look.steve

      Hi Steve,
I make a 14S 6P kit. You can buy 7 of the 12P2S Blocs. My website is www.batteryblocs.com. You could use your BMS of course.

Hi Shawn, great vids! Unlike most vids here it's good to see someone pushing 18650's to their limit, very informative, are those battery bloc files open source so I can 3D print them?

    • @shawname2
      @shawname2  Před 6 lety

No, they are not open source, sorry. A large part of the design are the zinc plated steel plates with holes and the magnets and nylon bolts. You would spend more sourcing those in small quantities... The plastic Blocs themselves are actually the cheapest parts!

@ Shawn. 2 questions: 1) If I wanted to make a battery pack for a 24v 250w motor, which of your systems should I use ?
    2) I'm a simpleton- what's the best way to charge the batteries as a pack?
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

      Hi Steve,
For the simplest system use two 12 volt lead acid batteries. For a lithium system you would need 6 groups of cells in series. The number of cells in each group depends on how long you want the motor to run, and the capacity of the cells. I can calculate that if you tell me what cells you want to use and how long you want the motor to run.
For a 6S a common cheap hobby charger would work well.

@ Shawn McCarty Thanks. I have INR18650-20R Samsung batteries. Each seem to be holding 4.05 V. I would like to get about 80 minutes of use from the battery pack from a single charge.

Steve, you can read my $3 book which will answer all your questions and teach you how to design a battery.

@ Shawn McCarty Thanks again. I bought the book. Once I have the setup figured out, I plan on getting back to you. I also plan on getting some battery blocs in the near future.

Final tally is 10dead. Cells close to 0v guess that means they dead not revivable?imax b6 won’t charge

I’m goin to run it without the new bms first to see how it goes I did hear the vruzend kit can work loose even before I dropped it ha

Those are "Queen Bee" cells, a privately labeled cell made in China. I sell them on my website:
