Sure, it's not a brand, but you understand what is trying to be conveyed right? What would you suggest otherwise? "Budget chinese designed and manufactured internet distributed products"?
Nor To the 3rd they usually say ebay parts or eBay coilovers, when the part is cheap. but if I bought say a greddy turbo off eBay I say I bought it on eBay instead of eBay turbo you know.
Hate to bust the the bubble on all you who drop the cost of a car on coilovers, even those are made in China by whole or part, hell, that $1000 iPhone you went broke buying? It was made in China, small town outside of Shanghai, so saying something is crap because it's made in China doesn't always ring true anymore, just means the company that made it, cut manufacturing cost
Funny you mention iPhones, how many people will be happy to queue up for the latest iPhone and fork out $1000 for that, but then they call me an idiot for suggesting cheaping out on poorly made suspension for their car is a bad idea. Anyhoo, yes I can appreciate that MANY things are made in China, but they are often still engineered, tested and assembles properly... not just "chinese copies and built as cheap as possible" which is what these coilovers are.
Big difference between "built in china" and "built & engineered in china" parts engineered in china are mostly crap, because they try to cut down on prices too much and end up cheaping out on stuff they shouldn't. Plus they're pretty bad at engineering.
Sounds like a video made by a a guy who’s dropped thousands on coil overs before and couldn’t possibly fathom something cheaper being anywhere near as good. Was so negative about the whole thing before he even started.
I'm sorry if you don't agree but for my use they were genuinely terrible. I was only negative about their performance because they were shit, they are cheap crap. Just because that is a fact, doesn't make me negative, it makes the product junk. Don't hate me when the product was at fault.
@@Bbeavis Scotty Kilmer had the same issue with the ones he got to try out on his wife's Lexus ES300, she even noticed how poorly the car rode with the new ones, so he ended up putting the old ones back on. I had a similar issue with aftermarket, cheap motor mounts I got for my Corolla. It was like using hockey pucks as replacements.
@@Bbeavis Watch the video again... Good video but clearly biased from the get go. The video was just to validate your opinion formed even before you ordered those coilovers. I'm not saying the parts are great, or not... just that your assessment wasnt impartial
@@thekofianderson dude, it's like taking Eric Clapton to task for being "biased from the get-go" when asked to review a $100 plywood guitar. Of course he is gonna be biased. He has high standards and he's reviewing an obviously questionable product. This isn't a review for anybody. This is a channel all about motorsports and high-performance driving. It's for people looking to get good handling and perhaps tempted to skimp on their suspension. These coilovers are the $100 plywood guitar of the coilover world. Look decent. Sound like shit.
HOW TO GET GOOD QUALITY "EBAY" PARTS!!!! So China does this thing called stealing intellectual property of people who want to manufacture in china. So how this works is I can buy a brand new 7" intercooler direct from VRSF (but this could be any other car part) for $700. They manufacture this part in China for probably around $125. The reason they charge $700 is they have to pay for the R&D it took to design that part. But china comes along and steals there design and makes that same exact part unbranded and sells them in china. Some of those unbranded parts end up for sale on sites like ebay, AliExpress, ect. So moral of the story, you can get very good quality parts from eBay at huge discounts, but your hurting the companies who R&Ded that product. So there are some quality parts on eBay, just gotta know where to look.
This is very true Dolphin, although at least in this case we can rest assured that china didn't come up with a copy of anything of quality... as these were really disappointing coilovers.
They also cost more because defective units are rejected, bringing up the total cost of manufacture. With the cheap stuff you never know what you're going to get, and they often change something (lower quality materials, etc) to make it cheaper.
This is so true people need to stop saying that you should only buy from a real name when the Chinese names are real also you assholes what there fake names no there real just not fox greddy HKS bbs or something but they are real names
@@Bbeavis sure there is a huge difference. It would be pretty bad if f there wasn't really. But does that actually matter? It is just an elitist mentality in car culture. Like they are with hifi, and in whiskey and with wines. Some people act like only top of the line stuff is worthy of concideration. If i wanna get drunk i buy cheap alcohol. I am not looking to annalize and wonder what flavours and aromas there are in my boxed wine. And some people just want their car to have a low stance and that is what they buy them for. Most people i know don't have a clue anyway how their car should drive. How often i notice bad shocks, half flat tires and bad alignments on peoples cars when im riding with them is astonishing. And they never even noticed and still have no idea what i am talking about when i point it out. They got used to it and it is part of their car I much rather see people buying this then slamming their car down with some cheap lowering springs and then just keep riding their bouncy castle with no shocks left whatsoever. At least this is safe and a better ride then a lot of peoples stock cars that i know. It is all relative and you need to see things in a bit of context.. Some never even notice a broken spring or even a flat tire.
@@baronvonlimbourgh1716 "Does it really matter?" For the people who just want to slam their car, no. For those of us who actually care about how our cars drive on the track, absolutely yes. Frankly, I'm amazed at how defensive people are getting over these cheap pieces of garbage. I don't get it. They perform exactly as their price suggests. Where's the controversy exactly?
20 percent of your paycheck ends in the recycle bin the moment you come home. Everybody hauling around expensive trash so they can throw it away as soon as they walk in the door. Most of our trash has seen more of the world then we ever will.
Dude your just reaching to have a problem with them, this whole video your just looking for any excuse. I bought eBay coil overs and honest to god no problem. And I have them adjusted to what I needed and they work perfect for my mazda 3
how are they holding up, planning to get some for my Civic FD, I live in the philippines so I earn next to nothing lmao, ebay coilovers will cost me my 2 week paycheck but I need em, lemme know my dude
No he didn't... BEAVIS provided MULTIPLE good points, which, I think even suprised him... The fact a company couldn't even keep consistancy, just shows what utter shite they are.
When you describe the ride feel of those coilovers as 'crashy', I suspect that has more to do with the mx5 being older with wearing suspension parts. The new springs are likely stiffer and it is revealing the weaknesses of the car's aging suspension. Older cars do rattle more. I experienced similar on my AW11 MR2 when I upgraded to high quality lowering springs and struts. Replacing many of the worn out bushings helped out a lot with that. It seems like those ebay coilovers werent that bad of a deal.
It's funny how people claim it's the car, or the bushes, or the driver... yet i swap out the shitty coilovers from some good ones and suddenly it rides beautifully.
In terms of a quality coilover that actually works, yes they are. It's all relative. You can easliy pay over $5000 or more for coilovers.... so $1200 or less for BC's is cheap.
Sometimes you're also limited by what's even being made for your vehicle. BC Racing is one of the few companies that makes em for a PT Cruiser, so they've been on my "list" for possible options.
TrueNomadSkies i feel you there. most of the cars ive owned have a very limited aftermarket parts selection, so actually finding stuff that bolts right up is like a miracle lol
I do agree with you. I think he was very bias since the beginning, the whole "Speeding or Peeding" thing was hilarious 🤣 The same with the packaging. If you are buying a very affordable/low entry product, don't expect a Macbook Pro packaging style...come on buddy, those things were very well protected, as you said it correctly, what else would you expect? What that said, some info in the review was useful. In fact I am about to order this kit for an old project car that is on a budget...I hope I don't get the crashy ride though...I will give it a try. The well known coilovers are definitely over priced, so I am going with the Chinese Peeding version 🤣🤣🤣 Anyway, thanks for the video Beavis.
You can also stiffen or soften the ride by adjusting the damping, just need take off the cap on the top and turn it to the left. Very easy to do and that will definitely help the ride immensely... To adjust the damping to be softer, turn the adjusting knob counter clock-wise. To make the damping stiffer, turn the adjusting knob clock-wise.
They only make that clunking noise if the springs are tightened too much. I've had these on my 4g eclipse since I've bought it and have no problems. U should research how to adjust them before making a review
Hi Andrew, I'm sorry but I am not sure I agree. I have every confidence that they were correctly setup, and that spring preload does not induce a bad ride. Perhaps your eclipse is better suited to these coilovers than a smaller MX-5 Miata.
I had them.on my.5th gen.prelude I just sold, and my new car is a 1992 prelude. Guess what's going on them??!! MAXPEEDINGRODS! for 200 bucks, you cant go.wrong. One thing I noticed is the( pivotball?) on the front ones makes a lot of noise... so this time 8m going to.pavk them with some kind of grease that isn't harmful to the rubber.
But the valving and the way they handle bump and rebound is far beyond that of cheaper coilovers. Bilstein pss9 and Öhlins Road and track are fine examples of this
If "expensive" high quality coilover also ride harsh for you, you got the wrong spring rates for the driving your doing and/or have the damping set up wrong
Not if you use proper springs for your car and the driving you do. If you just use whatever comes standard with the kit you will have a shitty ride indeed. Things do not have to be that way though.
@@fueledgti bilstein pss9s are way to bumpy. Had them on my rs6 and the back got launched into the air everytime i took a speed bump faster then 3 miles an hour. And the car was barely lower then stock. Never got them to work properly. Went back to koni sports and like them a lot more. Then again, maybe i just got a bad set or something. Who knows.
had ebay coilover on my S13, loved them. 1/3 of a price of real coils. Didn't notice difference in the ride quality from brand name coils. And I didn't buy my S13 for the ride quality in the first place
@@brendanmay8527 Exactly.. lol.. But even in the car community you have the "boogie" guys 😂 We dont kick it with these guys, we just smoke them and their $2k coilovers on the freeway 🤣
His advice is accurate though. On my older cars i used TA technix coils. Its like ebay coils but with a german brand behind it. And even those where the worst fucking crap ive ever laid my money on. First of i had to drill the hole on the coil for the lower control arm, because it was to small. They didnt hold the alignment at all. They rattled and bumped even though everything was tightened to spec. And since i live in sweden, they became proper rust "towers". One thing ive learned. You should not cheap out on coilovers.
My experiences with these coilovers on Lexus IS200: Cons: Two of the coilover bodies (the part with the threads) is too long which means either the front or the rear doesn't go as low without lowering the preload below 0. The top hat for the rear doesnt line up perfectly with the body so you have to file a millimeter out of the hole in the shock tower to fit it trough. Lacks the stock mounting brackets for ABS sensor wire, so you have to ziptie this on. The threads are coated steel. The lower body is also coated steel. It does rust after a while. Mine are now seized. The shocks leak fluid and it fills up the rubber boot. Pros: Probably the only coilovers for under 250 bucks which provide - Top hats - Separate preload and height adjustment It's not bad for the price, that said you do get what you pay for.
Hey AX53, thanks for taking the time to share your experience! Certainly sounds like your experience match my suspicions that these are pretty poor quality, despite looking good for the price. Thanks for watching!
I bought them and can't get rid of the clunks, the handling is good but I'm too embarassed to take anyone out in it sounds like a drum kit not tied down in a trailer behind me.
Make sure the o rings are in place mine did that too in the beginning I greased the pillow ball and notice my o rings we're off so make sure they're on! And also check your control arms
I had these in my car for 2 years. Lower my car 4 inches and rode great way better then stock. No rattles or anything at all car also only had 100,000 miles. I also only paid 300 for mine
F***ing useless piece of junks...max speed rods i think are the worst budget coils....not the cheapest...but the worst...the ride is extremely stiff and makes the car undriveable.i had them on am e46 coupe and the back of the car was bouncing on the road, the back wheels were lifting of the ground.i also had ta technix witch were a lot better ...
Nah man, installed them on my VT Commy last week and they are a blast, no clunks, a tad bouncy in the rear but that is my fault for not enough spring preload, it handles 20x better than the stock suspension (my old rear shocks were blown), an absolute blast to throw around, not too bad comfort wise either, but I did get the adjustable damper ones.
He is making an honest and transparent review on a cheap set of coil overs. I do not see anything wrong with that and most of the youtubers praising this shithole product have been sponsored as nothing negative is stated or just a minor con is told. Im glad BEAVIS has made a video on these coilovers as I am now more knowledgable that 'cheap coil overs are not the way to go if you are after a quality product', therefore, buying a genuine cheap set for $1200 will allow for decent quality and will last for many years to come.
And rightly so if it doesn't make sense to you. But I also don't want to encourage people to make their car worse by installing shit, even keeping oem parts is better than these china-spec coilovers. For me, I paid $5,000 for my car, but it probably has $15k or more worth of parts installed on it. I'm quite content with that because I do what I enjoy.
@@Bbeavis I'm in college... so I don't have that sort of money lying around... that said, I think sometimes cheapish coilovers are a little better than 30 year old stock springs. Plus I want the car a little lower/ more tossable.

I bought my e36 with racelands and i know the feeling he's talking about. It's pretty bad. BC coilovers were one of the first things I bought for my car. They were worth it for sure. I'd much rather do bilstein shocks with h&r springs over any coilovers under $1k.
BEAVIS Motorsport if you had to remove them, why are you telling people in these comments that you’ll post a follow up video on them “after putting a few more miles on the car”? Just curious
He is right guys, these are absolutely not worth the time money or effort! I had them on my Corolla for not even one day. Save your money and invest in either lowered springs, with new shocks, or invest in a much higher quality brand, if you really love your car. These cause so much noise and rattle when you turn, regardless of how much you adjust them, put grease, etc. Come back and tell me I am right after you try them out. That is if they send the right ones.
Thanks Cyax, lots of people want to convince themselves that cheap crappy coilovers are good. But they get angry when I tell them the truth. So instead of learning, they blame me for their disappointment.
not trying to attack you personally, i think enough people have already done that, but i have to say that you come across as a very pretentious and snobby person when it comes to car parts. im sure this one 20 minute video doesnt encapsulate your whole personality but thats the impression i get from it. im sure there are better coilovers out there for thousands of dollars but no one who can afford those is watching this video. the people who are only want to know if these coilovers are worth the money (which this video didnt really answer) not if they stack up to parts that are on hundred thousand dollar professional drift cars. i think thats why this comment section is full of so many negative people, because youve attracted the target market of this product and basically did nothing but insult their (our) intelligence and the quality of the products they (we) use. i think the format of your video was really well done, you were somewhat thorough without rambling and included some useful information. i wish you would have gone into more detail about how or why the coils were making that "crashing" sound but otherwise you did a great job, just try to keep in mind who your audience is when you make another video like this and consider the possibility that just because something is cheap doesnt mean its worthless.
Thank you for taking the time to comment James, i really appreciate it. I do think the video is still valid and for the most part is still accurate. I do also believe that a large portion of the unhappy commenters are in denial, or just don't agree with my opinion. Just because I don't like something, and someone else does, doesn't mean one of us is right or wrong. In my opinion, these coilovers are not worth the trouble. People come to this video in the hope that their dreams of the cheap solution to coilovers is validated- fair enough. But at the end of the day, I'm not going to recommend them, no matter how many people don't agree with me or say I'm a snob. It should be mentioned, I'm driving a $2000 MX-5, so certainly far from a snobby car - this ain't no high end, or big power or big dollar car.
I have found this to be completely opposite, James. BEAVIS Motorsport, I found, provided a great review on these as I saw a set on eBay for sale going real cheap at an auction. Having never heard of them before and seeing the images, they looked like a quality unit. Glad I found this video - BEAVIS noted MANY good points about these coilovers but looks can be decieving. I guess its a case of the placebo effect.... You think they are good but most people fitting these do not care for ride comfort or handling capabilities. Everyone that has commented on this video has mentioned they ride fine on the street, sure but what about on a race track with long sweeping bends for example. You want to make sure your suspension keeps them tyres in contact with the ground, especially when doing 100mph+
Reading the comments, it's funny how people assume the Chinese only makes shit. They make premium quality but the people demanded cheap so they made it cheaper. When that wasnt cheap enough they demanded they wanted even cheaper, so the Chinese responded and found cheaper materials to use. The Chinese will build it as good as you're willing to pay.
Indeed Mark, however there seems to be a difference between cheap Chinese designed and made coilovers, and a coilover designed and engineered elsewhere, but manufactured in China.
surprisingly i actually like my ebay coil overs ( cx-racing ). however i have not had high end coil overs. i simply was switching from my stock ones to these. They are 32 way adjustable, you can fully adjust preload etc. I actually love the feel of them. i have them with just a bit of preload and they arent favorite stiff or hard i just based it off going all the way hard and then 16 clicks out to be basically in the middle of soft and hard setting and then gradually worked a couple clicks towards hard. But i noticed right off the bat the steering actually seemed easier as if it required less effort to turn in at higher speeds. i also noticed much less body roll as the car felt like it was more flat instead of wanting to tilt in turns. and it actually handles bumps well. The car entirely is more predictable and steady in the canyons which is my primary style of driving. i've had them on the car for 3 years and they don't make any bad sounds, nothing has broken or come out of alignment. and i honestly would buy them again for a different car.
People give me crap for this haha but i have them in my mkiv toyota supra. but i honestly have no issues with them so i have no regrets with using a affordable set of coil overs for that car. I mean don't get me wrong if i could id buy a nice high end set of coil overs for it. The thing is though.. not all of us who own supras are exactly financially stable or wealthy. Its funny because people automatically assume that if you have a supra you must spend top dollar on them or nothing at all. but at the end of the day... its still a toyota.
Too many people complain about "cheap" stuff off ebay. Its so pathetic. Just do what makes you happy and quit whining about what other people do to their cars. You dont see people complaining about guys who buy $8,000 suspension, why go on about $250.00 suspension. Its ur car. Do what YOU want. Not what others pressure you to do.
It is a valid point in the case of this suspension though, it's genuinely inferior to even the old OEM stuff. But I totally agree, do what YOU want, don't let others tell you how to do your car.
It's funny how you keep mentioning how the packaging was rough and quick but effective. I would take that as a compliment if I was the Chinese manufacturer. They ride that razor edge so perfectly of cutting corners and being as janky and rough as possible, while still giving an expected level of quality and utility when all is said and done. It is innovative and skillful and it's part of the reason they dominate the world with merchandise. Why take the extra costly man hours and expensive resources of having perfectly cut and custom shaped nice foam inserts to protect during shipping, when they have a bunch of random foam strips left over that they could just cut up. They are making the best out of what is around them and thinking on the fly effectively. As for the maXpeedingrods (and I love that name it's the only thing I've ever considered getting tattooed on my body because I just think it's that good) I have had a set on my Matrix now for a few years and they finally wore out but they were great for the years they worked and I don't blame them for wearing out I drove them through harsh vermont winters with salted roads and terrible construction bumps and bridge joints. But 200 dollars to last your suspension for 2 or 3 years is actually an acceptable price if you just considered them wearable parts. The rears still work the fronts have just locked up from corrosion and dirt and salt and debris. I just ordered a replacement set and plan on just unfortunately putting my stock suspension in for the winter this winter. Even though it looks ridiculous with 5 inch fender height gaps with the stock stuff. It's just not worth ruining the lowering susp.
I got these installed professionally. No complaints here, no clunking at all, great purchase for them, I feel them to be actually decent an drive well.
I have installed a set of coilovers for my customer, he said he bought it for around $200 from eBay, the first thing I told him is your coilovers are cheaper than your life insurance.
Really love your way of presentation...many youtubers only make an install video of coilovers but never managed to describe clearly what difference does they make. Looking forward if you can do different coilover reviews with a similar format!
Thanks chungman. I didn't want to cover the 'install' too much, as it's been done to death and it's really not that hard, people dont need to watch that... instead I wanted to focus on really giving these coilovers a chance and trying to show what they are really like.
Y'all need to remember this is AUD and not USD Pricing. It pisses me off the stupidity of some people... Come on, same design as name brands like Ohlins and want not, Dosent mean the same amount of quality in the metals and other stuff. You're not paying the company that designed the product and 90% of the time you get a cheaper and crappy product. Yes im not saying go spend 10k on a set of Ohlins for your 4k miata, Nor am i saying you should run these on your 1k civic. Look in the middle at some BC's or something, Dont be cheaping out on vital parts like suspension and don't expect as good of ride quality with cheaper products This guy had used premium coil overs and now knows the feeling and ride of them and how nice they are including the quality of the product. Now using cheaper products he doesn't like it. If you don't like his opinion and want to complain like the rest of this idiotic comment section excluding some smart people, than stick a finger up your ass till you find the answer you want.
Thank you for your sound understanding Spud. Certainly there is a broad level of experience in the CZcams comments, along with a wide range of budgets. So it's hard to make everyone happy.
Iv ran those coil overs on my s13 for about 1.5 years and I haven't had any of these problem that thump is you not having the right preload setting and or your coil over not being tight at the top.
I suspect the manufacturer never tested these coilovers on a car as light as the miata. Please note that spring preload does not alter ride quality, the spring rate is constant. And i can assure you they were 'tight at the top'. The poor ride is a result of bad design and lack of testing of the dampening rate in relation to the spring rate and vehicle geometry.
I suspect that too. They did not properly test them on many models of vehicles. Some have success with these, and some people don't. I personally tried every thing to make them stop making noise, (tightened the top fastener, all the nuts at the top mount, camber bolts, preload all that, pretty much everything, I have installed quality coil overs before and never had issues as much as I had with these! Took them off after a day of wasting time and swearing. Ive also heard that some people have received the wrong sets (rear set not aligning etc) so just do your research beforehand.
If $1500 is cheap for coilovers then my view on cheap and expensive is seriously warped. Yes there are coilovers for 2,3,4 and even 5 grand but 9 times out of ten if you're buying at that price point you're putting them on a racecar, not a daily driver. Lower priced or "cheap" as you call them are meant more for a daily driver or weekend track car/occasional spirited driving. But if you buy coilovers, no matter the cost, expecting the same performance specs from all or compared to OEM , you'll be disappointed. And yes, the coilovers reviewed are basically just a cheap, easy way to stance your car.
Seemed like they weren't as abrupt as the speed bumps in my city or what other people may be used to. We have speed bumps and humps here, the humps are big and gradual usually on roads and the bumps are tall and abrupt usually found in parking lots.
lmao i was thinking that i have to crawl over speed bumps and do the honda shuffle but then again i have racelands ultimos and the cars slammed //don’t recommend lol
I spent $1200 for my coilovers. My car isn’t a highly supported ride. I only found 2 companies that made them for it and they are built once you order them. I drive a custom 2005 Cadillac deville. My daily is an 05 Cadillac STS4.
18:55 That legacy passed you thinking 'Just the casual morning trip to the office' And you 'Full race mode bitch...go miata go! .. who tf is that mad man??' _puts head down in defeat_ lol
A great experiment and a good video. A tip: when setting/checking the ride height, roll the car backwards & forwards to unload the suspension and sidewalls; as they will load up laterally when lowered from the stands/jacks.
I briefly mentioned in the video how i had to work the car a few times to get it where I wanted, however I didn't show or mention that its important to give the suspension some bounces and movement... so thanks for the tip, this is a good addition!
Sorry STAYUP, but I think you are mistaken on how i setup bump travel correctly. I did not setup anything to bottom out. I set it up to have the most possible bump travel while maintaining the desired ride height.
I've been looking at a set of tein street basis Z and they're $550 US with no top hat, you have to use the stock top hat, the next step up the flex model is pushing $800 USD. Like the other comment, just because it's made in China doesn't mean it's cheaply made because most of everything you get is from China weather it's shipped to your local store and you buy it there or you buy it directly from China and it's shipped to you it was still loaded in a shipping container and sent to your country. There is a difference between cheap and inexpensive
I'm not saying "made in china" mean's it's crap. I'm saying that made, designed and "QC'd" in china means it's crap. There's a difference between a good brand with real engineering and RnD that made in china to a crappy chinese knock off.
BC is not cheap. Who in the right mind buys 10k coil overs for a daily driver or weekend warrior cars. 🤦🏻♂️ i guess you are trying to act like you are rich or something.
Hey BOC Built, I don't think that "trying to act rich" is a fair statement if I am merely suggesting cheap crappy coilovers should be avoided and you should instead invest in PROPER coilovers, even if you spend a more respectable $1000 or so on something with actual engineering behind it.
Pushing the shock in like that only shows the slow speed dampening which should be low like that. you would need a machine to test the high speed dampening.
I have those same brand coilovers for my VW GTI mk3 and they've been working fine for me for 2 years so far. They took almost a month to settle in and smooth out. But I haven't had any rattles or loss in dampening. They were really clunky for about a month tho. In my opinion, for a daily driver they are fine, but I would never expect them to hold up on the track. The coil itself holds up just fine but its hard to go wrong with a coil unless it snaps or changes geometry. The only thing that is lacking about them is the dampener. On mine the dampener and lower mount are one piece but on you're the dampener is a separate piece which I think is a good thing because you could just buy better dampeners that have the same threading and upgrade your coilovers. Also I had the same paperwork as you and where it says that the dampener is adjustable at the top its not true. Mine said the same thing but spinning that rod does nothing to the dampening.
remember .. 90 percent of all the high branded things you buy actually get manufactured in the same place as the ebay china parts and then marked up massively to sell in Europe and USA .. the china based company's come to deals with the manufacturing too make them cheaper if they can use the parts in non make parts too .. this is super common most of the china car parts are actually good and not hurting the company's who do the research and development as they get that back from the 1% in the first burst of sales , the rest is just profit .. its only since trading via china has opened up more that we see the vast difference in what we got and what they have , also saving money on the packing is fine i would rather a box and some paper filler than a 200 dollar case they come in that i will never use past the first 10 mins of opening it .. also your driving an older car that was not designed to be on the type of coilovers you bought so will feel unusual . nothing will ever feel like OEM they would be worn in and loose at the time you got the car so softer and more forgiving . you can emulate that by getting some coilovers that have adjustable damping and pre charge rates as well as running the spring longer to allow it to bed(break in) .
The issue i had where one of mine was clunking is because i didn't tighten the top nut(On the strut) when it was on the ground and a small drive was all it took for the clunking to get much louder. Tighten while on the ground
If you dont take your car on tracks, and dont need adjustable shocks, then all you need to upgrade is Bilstein shocks and Eibach Springs. Less than have the price of coilovers. Again, no point in coilovers if you fit and forget.
So you wouldn't call BCracing, Megan, Fortune Auto, Tein, Skunk2, Ksport, or D2 good coilovers? All of them can be bought for under $1000. Hell, you can even get a set of KW coilovers for under $1000 if you look around.
Please keep in mind currency rates - None of those coilovers can be had for under $1000 where I come from. So yes I agree some of those ARE good, but not for under $1000.
so just what was the conclusion ,,,, did i miss that part . or was it just that 400 quid parts are 400 quid good and 1800 quid parts are 1800 quid good.
These are miles better then just lowering springs though. And most people are perfectly fine with driving around with those on their cars and the ride they give. For 90% percent of the people these are way better then what they need or want.
I got some of these because they where cheaper than the oem shocks springs. I replaced everything arms ball joints track rod ends the lot. I lowered by only 1 inch cause its for a honda accord workhorse not a racer. 200k miles on the clock. I got a non camber non damper adjustable set. It says it has a pillow joint but its a rubber bushing. Not sure how or why but lemme tell u this. Its absolutely beautiful to drive now. No noises whatever and its just right stiffness. Maybe twice the oem but it takes the bumps beautiful no clunks nothing. I lowered by 30mm only as I don't care about cosmetics. I guess time will tell
Ride quality is good. Stiffer through the bends not to bad over the bumps. I changed all of the arms and ball joints too. Installing these with worn arms / ball joints will amplify any noises coming from those worn parts. That said be sure to tighten the top strut nuts as they came loose after 1 week !... the company also sent the wrong rear shocks. They sent shocks for the saloon model not the estate despite me giving the the reg and specifying estate. The company did give me a partial refund and il flog them on, but I have to say the company hasn't a clue what its doing saying things like "can u modify them on" when the suspension is completely different on the rear lol
mike hunt thanks for your input. I know , it's seems like your talking to a robot when you need customer service. I was asking them questions on eBay and they seemed kinda retarded, but they gave me a good price for the set.
Just get Bilstein B6/B8 shocks and Eibach Pro-Kit/Sportline springs. Both products are from experts in their fields, are homologated for road use, you can buy them together as a package and the shocks are rebuildable.
Hey Indecisyve, I guess that's a valid point - I did expect they'd be pretty average for the price. But half the comments I see here criticize me for saying they are disappointing, and suggest I am a pompous fancy-pants and people seem to say that they are perfectly fine. So it's impossible to please everyone! haha. But hey, I bought them to find out for myself and now I know. Thanks for watching!
Just got these for my Civic, and installed them a week ago. They're definitely on a softer side compared to coilover sleeves (Ground Control) I've had in the past. But they're still stiff... Like, they absorb bumps very well without having a race-car-like ride. The ride quality isn't "jarring", its not so stiff where make it would make you cringe, It's very comfortable an smooth. There was a moment where another Civic was next to me on the highway (most likely on sleeved coilovers on possibly blown shocks) an was bouncing like crazy... looked like he was saddling a horse, while mine was a lot lower in height, an was completely still... floating on the road cruising 70mph, absorbing the road perfectly. These don't bounce at all, an I made sure they were preloaded before I installed. Some may not want a soft ride on a drift car / track car, but for a daily street car it's perfect imo. I love these.
@@brassmonkeegaming8583 nope Still not leaking Now they are bad for my usage With +200hp turbo miata They are unprecise and bouncy Maybe next one are BC Racing
You should do a slalom test, take them around a mountain pass, do an autocross and review them properly. Not saying they arent shit, just saying that reviewing a cheap coil over by the ride quality is not as efficient as actually testing them. All coilovers are slightly rough, some more than others, but that isnt why you buy coils.
I tested them in the exact way that the average joe buyer would use them, in general day to day driving on public roads. No real person would put these on their track car.
I have these on my 2011 GT. They're the adjustable dampening ones and they work quite well. Valving and spring rate seem spot on to give a firm ride but not overly harsh. I do have an issue with one of my pillow balls binding then popping though. Minor inconvenience for the $230 USD I paid for them 🤣
I think the replacements were made of heavy components, particularly the lower shock base. Id like to weigh a known aftermarket shock for comparison but didn't feel like disassembling my other car just to weigh a shock. If anyone has a better known brand of rear shock around that they can weigh, I'd love to hear the results.
I'd rather have packaging like that than pay through my nose for perfectly formed foam that I'm gonna be throwing away. 80% of R&D goes into packaging design. Hence the high prices. Majority it's a con. Like sprinkling glitter on shit and selling it for more. For what they are, I'd give those coilovers 7.5/10.
I don't think I had any concern with the packaging, just that it was kind of amusing. Personally I felt these coilovers were a pretty poor performer for my car.
Thanks that-one-guy. Good to know that max-p are offering some less-cheap products, COT6 on face value looks much nicer than their basement spec product reviewed in this video.
Hey Nozzy thanks for watching! In my opinion, suspension is important, BC's are about as low as I would like to go. Anything less is very likely just not good enough for me...
BEAVIS Motorsport Thank you for your time by replying. I agree on that suspension is VERY important. But in my opinion bc's are decent. Their not top of the line but it's far from the worst. I've had good experiences with bc, however i bet it's more about the type of vehicle that it's made for, as your springs are tiiiiiny with not much travel rate compared to what I've been around with
Fair enough Nozzy, what else out there is a reasonable product for say around $1000 though? There's probably more options in the USA, but here in Australia we have too small of a market.
It's crazy the amount of poors trying to justify these lmao. These are hot garbage. I think the real thing is most people have never really used good coilovers (Ohlins etc) which is why they think junk like this is acceptable.
Longevity, that is the real question...new & shiney out of the box, but how will they be in 6 mo, 1yr, 2yrs, etc...other differences is how they handle bump & rebound cycling...did you corner weight the n/a after a bit?
I got these a year ago just to replace the oems that previous owner never replaced and they're already rusting which started a few months after being installed and I live in Arkansas
I bought a set of these for a daily driven little 1991 corolla with the adjustable dampening, and after about 2000 miles they’ve settled nicely, they’re not “comfortable” but for $300, they’re cheaper and handle better than replacing all four springs and struts. And don’t require reconstruction like the stock setup, since they come preassembled. Overall the ride quality is actually not bad, over the sudden changes they are harsh a bit but not unbearable.
I wouldn’t say “happy” but content with the cost in comparison to all OE replacement shocks/springs, and top hats, considering they were all completely destroyed when the car was originally purchased.
Tuna Garage i hrard ppl actually buy these because the quality of the strut is good but everything else is bad or something like that and ppl just rebuild them with better parts. so in the end still comes out cheaper than actual good brand.
Thad Beard don’t hold your breath. In another comment of the same age as this one he told someone they were “so bad he had to remove them!”, so who knows.
Just did a miata front end, new kyb shocks, new upper and lower control arms and ball joints and the car feels so much better. Youd get more for your money bringing back to stock with new ball joints and bushings than knockoff coilovers. New ball joints will make way more of a difference than new springs
China builds things to the spec's of the client. If the client wants higher quality, that's what they get. Even name brand products are built in China. They build them to spec. China has come a long way in the quality of their production. They want repeat customers and probably trying to shake their bad reputation. China can make some very high quality things, you just have to pay for it. Keeping in mind that old saying, "if it's too good to be true, it probably is". I've been watching many videos on the breakdown if tools/testing Chinese tools against the high end counterpart tools. Very interesting. The cheeper Chinese tools holdup very well compared to the cost.
You are quite right in many respects Frank, but to clarify, this was a test of a "chinese designed, engineered and built' product. That being, something that doesn't necessarily see the levels of quality of a 'name brand' coilover, even one made in china which is considered superior quality. In this case, the 'chinese' product was significantly inferior to anything i've used in the past.
@@Bbeavis Got cha. It's probably going to be a long time before they can build something of high quality and reliability and retain the low costs. I have a set of S.S. headers I bought awhile ago. I thought, how bad can they be? $99 for thick flanged shorty headers. They looked pretty good when I pulled them out of the box. Flanges were like 7/16" thick, welds were nice. Overall they looked good. By the time I got around to really checking them out. I soon realized they were completely useless. The ports were so big they breached the outside of the gasket...the outside!! Flanges so thick you couldn't put bolts through the holes, tubes bent so sharply near the flange they bolts couldn't be put in. The testing and R&D work is expensive. I'm sure no one ever fitted these to a cylinder head. They make them look the same. I guess my point is. They still have my money. There's nothing I can do about it. If word gets out and no one buys them. They just build something else until they can no longer sell them, then on to the next thing. I think they're trying to keep repeat customers now. Trying to escape the reputation.
Height is not adjusted with the spring perch. Preload effects ride harshness. Height is adjusted by the lower mount. I went into this vid assuming he knew what he was doing, but I guess he does not.
Sorry mate but no, that is a common misconception. Adjusting the bottom perch alters ride height but at the same time compromises shock travel. You need to correctly set travel, and THEN set height with the spring perch.
They are pretty easy to find with a quick google search, try this: www.aliexpress.com/item/4000039102963.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.630c4c56eQARvs&algo_pvid=55c6de35-6408-4f2c-9eaa-63b0149f3420&algo_expid=55c6de35-6408-4f2c-9eaa-63b0149f3420-0&btsid=c0ff84a8-8a4a-466f-bf3d-e9634763e0d2&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_9,searchweb201603_53
I put some of these on a 06 civic, worst ride quality I have ever experienced in a car, I set them up properly and every single bump felt like a hammer was hitting my spine.
Me buy a 5k car, you buy a 50k car.. both crashes.. is the 50k less damaged? $400 coil overs have been using and is still. It’s like a great value brand. Does that mean it ain’t good? All you buying with those expensive parts are just the brand name. Note: everything is made in China and if not well the equipment use to make it is from China. 🤷🏾♂️ $400/600 coil overs are great just choose the correct one
You buy a 5k car, sure it drives, but it doesn't get you to your destination with the same level of speed, comfort or safety. No difference with coilovers, sure cheap shit will hold your car up off the ground, but it won't get you around a corner with the same level of performance.
mate i have had the maxpeeding coilover kit in my vt commodore for 2 over 2 years now. yes they are stiff but handling along with strutt braces and aftermarket sway bars the old vt handles like a dream.. and thats hard for a vt-vz... i put them in because they were cheaper than a new set of struts and rear shocks and havent looked back. the only knocking noise i got was from a lower ball joint. maybe you could have installed them wrong?
I installed them correctly, they just aren't suited to the car. Perhaps the manufacturer has only one valving setup which is more suited to a 1600kg car rather than our little 950kg machine.
I’ve been running these cheap coil over kit for 6 years now but you need the upgraded shock option for dampening 32 wat adjustments for an additional 150.00 all around makes all the difference in ride quality! When I installed them ppl said there crap but my opinion is for street use not track use there perfect they haven’t leaked or gone bad in 40 k 6 years on my 2001 Bmw 330i sedan been perfect !!
I can't help but think of how 5 years ago it was laughable that these were so cheap. Obviously you get what you pay for with these, chances are the valving doesn't even match the springrates. And it should be a given that the two piece coilover won't perform nearly as good as anything else that's actually designed application specific. But what I can't help but think about how in another year or two with where the economy is headed, we're likely going to be laughing (or crying) that these cost 1k+
People had mocked me for saying most sub $1000 coilovers are 'cheap'. Wild how the world works isn't it! I am fascinated that you came back to this rather rubbish old video of mine, but thank you for commenting nonetheless Enjuku, always appreciate your contributions, for so many years now.
You lost me at the beginning 3:55 when you started and kept going with the name. It’s called advertising ok you don’t like it NEXT. Rest of the video don’t know still watching.
Race land makes badass coil overs for around 500 I’ve used them for decade now at least never had a real issue aside from a scratch or so during shipping
Did you tension the spring? I noticed u can take them apart with out a spring Compressor cus they can be adjusted. Maybe that noise is the spring weakly sitting on the upper and lower springs mounts? Idk. New shocks usually feel really firm new. I got new stock ones and had like no body roll for couple weeks. Then they loosed up to a stock feel.
Hi Salvatore, thanks for watching! I do believe the springs were seated correctly within their mounts - I find the 'noise' is just a result of the rough ride these offer on my little car.
I mean I get your point. They are Chinese which probably means that they aren't engineered very well since there isn't any R'n'D put into them. But I would rather take these than FK's, JOM's or TaTechnixs when were talking about the lowest spectrum of coil overs, most of these have horrible crashy rides. I driven in one of these which were set up pretty nicely on a Ek3 hatchback and they drove much better than the other lower quality coilovers. From my research there are some specific issues with these coilovers and Miatas all over CZcams such as the ride height and the ride itself. (Probably because they weren't made properly for the car) but on EK civics and BMW e36 they seem to be fine. These definitely can't compete with mid-range coilovers in any shape or form but if somebody is just looking to slam their car their pretty okay since people who do that don't care about ride quality or performance. I respect your opinion that you think these are garbage as in reality most cheap coilovers are but sadly not everybody can afford quality coilovers. Nice video, good insight.
Buddy, to do a shock review, it'd help a LOT if you actually knew how a shock was supposed to work. You stripped the spring of, compressed the shock damper, it sprung back and you comment "not sure what that means?" Bud, it means it has gas in it at least! You compress a shock and then quickly try to pull the shaft out faster than the gas pushes it! Its on the up stroke that dampening occurs, not so much the down. On a shock that has adjustable dampening, compression and rebound, you could have adjusted it from max to min and compared how it affected the dampening. :-( Sorry sport, not trying to be a smart arse, just inform of your oversight.
Thanks for your feedback pal. These shocks did not have adjustable dampening, there was no way to make them any less stiff. They were also set to very unusual lengths, the rears even at the 'lowest' setting weren't that low. They were exceptionally uncomfortable and rode terribly. I don't need to understand the inner workings, or put them on a shock dyno, to know how they feel to drive.
Hey, nice review but I'd like to respectfully disagree on all terms. I bought a 1990 Miata for 2 grand with 2 blown shocks, on lowering springs, driver rear was scraping on the CV axle with 2 people in the car. So I bought the CHEAPEST ebay coilovers with adjustable damper for $199. They fit 100% with no issues, the only issues was taking out the old struts. The car is lowered to the halfway point, and the coilover damper is set to the softest point. The car rides "okay". No noises or squeaks, the car doesn't bottom out, suspension feels tight. I took it to an autocross and set the damper to max stiff, and to my surprise: it did something! The car had less body roll on my full stuff runs than my full soft, but way more oversteer. In the end, I spent $200 on coilovers for a rusty $2,000 miata. No, I'm not going to go get coilovers that cost half the price of the car, that's ridiculous. If it was a nicer, 5 grand car, I'd definitely consider getting something nicer. But for $200, they allow me to lower and raise the car, ride fairly nice, though I dont have a basis of comparison, and have adjustable dampening. All for under $200. They definitely have their place in the world, and they work.
Lol why does everybody call car parts from ebay, ebay parts as if ebay is a brand?
Sure, it's not a brand, but you understand what is trying to be conveyed right? What would you suggest otherwise?
"Budget chinese designed and manufactured internet distributed products"?
BEAVIS Motorsport lol yeah bro I understand I was just speaking in general . Great video btw 🤙🏾
Thanks Nor! :)

Quentin Adams yes all that and more he’ll im starting to think I was made in China lmao.

Yeah, the cunts did it to me
They also cost more because defective units are rejected, bringing up the total cost of manufacture. With the cheap stuff you never know what you're going to get, and they often change something (lower quality materials, etc) to make it cheaper.
they would be perfect for a shitty drift missile on a budget
This is so true people need to stop saying that you should only buy from a real name when the Chinese names are real also you assholes what there fake names no there real just not fox greddy HKS bbs or something but they are real names

Most people i know don't have a clue anyway how their car should drive. How often i notice bad shocks, half flat tires and bad alignments on peoples cars when im riding with them is astonishing. And they never even noticed and still have no idea what i am talking about when i point it out. They got used to it and it is part of their car
I much rather see people buying this then slamming their car down with some cheap lowering springs and then just keep riding their bouncy castle with no shocks left whatsoever.
At least this is safe and a better ride then a lot of peoples stock cars that i know.

@@Bbeavis they really are junk but if your in the hood there gold
When you describe the ride feel of those coilovers as 'crashy', I suspect that has more to do with the mx5 being older with wearing suspension parts. The new springs are likely stiffer and it is revealing the weaknesses of the car's aging suspension. Older cars do rattle more. I experienced similar on my AW11 MR2 when I upgraded to high quality lowering springs and struts. Replacing many of the worn out bushings helped out a lot with that.
It seems like those ebay coilovers werent that bad of a deal.
Same deal. I got some cheaper coilovers for my TL - turned out being the control arms, every rubber, etc. That made the most difference!
There's no cushion like the factory struts top hat so they're more harsh. Given that and the increased spring rate.
Swap out the top hats with stock if possible 🙊
This guy is going to wear out the throw out bearing by keeping his hand on the shifter!

For motorsport applications, even at an amateur level, $5-10k suspension setups are pretty common.

Actually, these coilovers have no damper adjustment.
You know your cars slow then a stock looking eco tec commo takes you off the lights
That is MX-5 life.... :)
I was looking for a comment like this lmao. He made noooo comment on that either haha
I was hoping I was not the only one that noticed that! Lmao
When "launching" , but I'm sure he doesn't have as much fun as we do driving Miatas 😌
Take that miata through a curvy road and you'll know the enjoyment of driving one. That's what they were built for. Not drag racing.
If you go into a situation expecting the worse, you’ll get the worse. You can’t expect to be pleased if you weren’t seeking it in the first place
A bit like the comments in CZcams haha!
Expensive coilovers ride harsh too.
Perhaps. Or then perhaps they are just overpriced.
Who knows.
Saying coilovers are soft there not meant to be soft there meant to be stiff and keep the car stiff
I didn't say they need to be soft, but they should be compliant and comfortable, they aren't meant to be crashy.
had ebay coilover on my S13, loved them. 1/3 of a price of real coils. Didn't notice difference in the ride quality from brand name coils. And I didn't buy my S13 for the ride quality in the first place
Glad to hear they are working for you Al
I've thought of doing the same. I only need 1" drop on my GS300
I've had bcs, racelands, eBays, etc etc. Honestly.. there's really no different other than adjustable dampening.. lol
@@brendanmay8527 Exactly.. lol.. But even in the car community you have the "boogie" guys 😂 We dont kick it with these guys, we just smoke them and their $2k coilovers on the freeway 🤣
@@brendanmay8527 Have you tried Ohlins?
Just cause it's crappy for this guy don't mean it will be for your car, don't eat up his advice 100%
That is the luxury of the internet, you can just keep searching until you find the answer that you want to hear. :-P
My experiences with these coilovers on Lexus IS200:
Cons:
Two of the coilover bodies (the part with the threads) is too long which means either the front or the rear doesn't go as low without lowering the preload below 0.
Pros:
Probably the only coilovers for under 250 bucks which provide
- Top hats
- Separate preload and height adjustment
It's not bad for the price, that said you do get what you pay for.
Haha I like your metaphor John.
I had these in my car for 2 years. Lower my car 4 inches and rode great way better then stock. No rattles or anything at all car also only had 100,000 miles. I also only paid 300 for mine
What car do you have them on?
It says right there on the customer service card "Also known as maxspeedingrods".
:-)
F***ing useless piece of junks...max speed rods i think are the worst budget coils....not the cheapest...but the worst...the ride is extremely stiff and makes the car undriveable.i had them on am e46 coupe and the back of the car was bouncing on the road, the back wheels were lifting of the ground.i also had ta technix witch were a lot better ...
Dinu knows whats up!
@@The2OfAwesomeGamers
Exactly, you bought shite coilovers to replace shite stock suspension... Lumps of wood, would have probably been better!
Thank you for the kind words Cyax, I appreciate your respectful perspective.
I just can’t bring myself to spend 2x the price of my car on coilovers
And rightly so if it doesn't make sense to you. But I also don't want to encourage people to make their car worse by installing shit, even keeping oem parts is better than these china-spec coilovers. For me, I paid $5,000 for my car, but it probably has $15k or more worth of parts installed on it. I'm quite content with that because I do what I enjoy.
@@Bbeavis I'm in college... so I don't have that sort of money lying around... that said, I think sometimes cheapish coilovers are a little better than 30 year old stock springs. Plus I want the car a little lower/ more tossable.
@@michaeljoseph4314 "When they make the whip you like, you're chips ain't right. By the time you can afford it, the car ain't important" ~ Nas
Just go with Eibach lowering springs for a better stance and performance on a budget. They are great springs, and cost about $300 on average (varies on make-model) They come in 2-3 tiers starting at around 1.2" drop. You will be quite surprised at how much better the car will handle as well for just a few hundo. great company, been around for a very long time, and most people's go to. Lifetime warranty and all springs specific designed and tested for each model.
@@Bbeavis hey my eclipse has 3 bad struts, I'm looking online and these ebay coilovers are a cheaper option than doing all 4 struts. would you suggest it? I'm not really worried about lowering and stancing it, I just want to get it to pass inspection. but I wouldn't mind if it was a little lower, 3g eclipse sits a little high.
Trying to make something sound bad. When it really isn't.
Oh Adrian, trust me, they really are bad, I had to remove them from the car.
I bought my e36 with racelands and i know the feeling he's talking about. It's pretty bad. BC coilovers were one of the first things I bought for my car. They were worth it for sure. I'd much rather do bilstein shocks with h&r springs over any coilovers under $1k.
Hazem, finally someone who understands decent suspension! :)
All these comments shaming BEAVIS for making this video have a bad case of buyer's remorse.
Hey Review Guy, thanks for taking the time to write. Glad to hear the CX-racing gear is working well. What car do you have them in?
Glad to hear you had a positive experience with them sirgallium :-)
Most manufacturer suspension can and does last the life of the car, so $200 for suspension to only last 2 years, is in fact, shite.
Cost savings my dude, cost savings. I'm so down with these
Save a buck now and it'll cost you in about 3 months when these things leak all over your driveway.
@@Bbeavis Or when your car gets totalled when you push them to hard through a roundabout
I got these installed professionally. No complaints here, no clunking at all, great purchase for them, I feel them to be actually decent an drive well.
Glad to hear they worked out OK for you carlos!
Hey Carlos did they manage to lower your car evenly and more than the rear ones on the video?
@carlos got any photos from the new height?
I actually bet that this guy adjusted the shock tension while the coilovers were mounted, hence the clunking from the loose springs
I have installed a set of coilovers for my customer, he said he bought it for around $200 from eBay, the first thing I told him is your coilovers are cheaper than your life insurance.
Hah, Ice Breaka you are a funny chap, I hope your customer doesn't need their insurance.
@@Bbeavis I wish the best "luck" for him. i told him drive careful, I still wanna see him on next oil change.
Look in the middle at some BC's or something, Dont be cheaping out on vital parts like suspension and don't expect as good of ride quality with cheaper products
This guy had used premium coil overs and now knows the feeling and ride of them and how nice they are including the quality of the product. Now using cheaper products he doesn't like it.
If you don't like his opinion and want to complain like the rest of this idiotic comment section excluding some smart people, than stick a finger up your ass till you find the answer you want.
Half the people saying 1300-1500 dollar coil overs have probably never even owned a car nor bought these kinda of coil overs.
Everything is relative. Price/performance/comfort all depends on what YOU want it to be.
"I'm not gonna bore you on how to install the coilovers" - pretty much shows the whole procedure on how to install them
Ziggy R came to comments and thought that would be top comment. I guess not.
A time lapse isn't equivalent to a "how to"
Yeah this was FAR from a "how to".
I wouldn't call $400 cheap, I'd call $50 cheap, with my current pay it'd take an entire paycheck, ignoring bills
Sorry to hear, I certainly hope that your financial situation improves in the future Kyle! Thanks for watching :-)
You drive over speed bumps way to fast 😂
They are pretty big and gradual humps, they can easily be taken at 40kmh in my everyday sedan.
😂😂😂😂
BEAVIS Motorsport an mx5 isn’t an everyday sedan though
That's a cool couple of cars :) Wish we got cadillacs in my part of the world.

That's the life of a MX-5 with now power! hah!
Hey it was actually a Holden Commodore :-)
Nice that they include drain holes for the shock fluid to drain out once they start leaking in a few months!
Haha, exactly Paul!
For condensation ..rust prevention
A great experiment and a good video. A tip: when setting/checking the ride height, roll the car backwards & forwards to unload the suspension and sidewalls; as they will load up laterally when lowered from the stands/jacks.
I briefly mentioned in the video how i had to work the car a few times to get it where I wanted, however I didn't show or mention that its important to give the suspension some bounces and movement... so thanks for the tip, this is a good addition!
He finds out they bottom out , so he sets ‘em up to bottom out. Hey? How do they ride?
Sorry STAYUP, but I think you are mistaken on how i setup bump travel correctly. I did not setup anything to bottom out. I set it up to have the most possible bump travel while maintaining the desired ride height.
You're actually supposed to loosen all rubber bushing bolts and re torque when it's sitting on the ground level, or else the rubber bushings die
BEAVIS Motorsport but for a daily who needs 15k suspension? That’s just over kill BC is more than enough for a daily .
Pushing the shock in like that only shows the slow speed dampening which should be low like that. you would need a machine to test the high speed dampening.
I suppose I cannot disagree.
Thanks for the info Technician, appreciate the heads up. Glad to hear they are working ok for you.
Thanks for watching soooooooperspeed
Some people consider these for performance but at this price they are cheaper than originals lol
Thanks!
The issue i had where one of mine was clunking is because i didn't tighten the top nut(On the strut) when it was on the ground and a small drive was all it took for the clunking to get much louder. Tighten while on the ground
Glad to hear you got that resolved Kalisto!
I really like that ride height from when you first showed the ride height. Looks good and not stupid low.
Thanks for watching Swermie, I certainly try not to go stupid low. The car is supposed to be usable.
If you dont take your car on tracks, and dont need adjustable shocks, then all you need to upgrade is Bilstein shocks and Eibach Springs. Less than have the price of coilovers. Again, no point in coilovers if you fit and forget.
Thanks for watching!
🤣 my favorite part in this video is at ‘18:52’ you see the Accord just WALK AWAY silently 🤣
It is a Holden Commodore
So you wouldn't call BCracing, Megan, Fortune Auto, Tein, Skunk2, Ksport, or D2 good coilovers? All of them can be bought for under $1000. Hell, you can even get a set of KW coilovers for under $1000 if you look around.
Please keep in mind currency rates - None of those coilovers can be had for under $1000 where I come from. So yes I agree some of those ARE good, but not for under $1000.
Fair enough. Didn't consider that.
so just what was the conclusion ,,,, did i miss that part .
or was it just that 400 quid parts are 400 quid good
and 1800 quid parts are 1800 quid good.
I think your summary is, in a way, quite accurate. Fundamentally, yes, 400 buck coils perform like you'd expect for 400 bucks.
These are miles better then just lowering springs though. And most people are perfectly fine with driving around with those on their cars and the ride they give.
For 90% percent of the people these are way better then what they need or want.
To a degree I agree. Everyone is different and every car is different.
Nice work man, thanks for watching :)
mike hunt would you say the ride quality is better than lowering springs or the infamous "cut springs"
Angel Martinez cut springs aren't bad at all as long as u have good. Struts but they do wear the struts out quicker
Just get Bilstein B6/B8 shocks and Eibach Pro-Kit/Sportline springs. Both products are from experts in their fields, are homologated for road use, you can buy them together as a package and the shocks are rebuildable.
Thanks!
I appreciate the upload but he’s kinda....very annoying. What else do you expect from $250 coilovers off of eBay......
I have these , how do you make them not bounce ? Does bounce mean blown shocks?
Interesting to hear, how are they holding up DSM?
I have these on my NB miata
Perfect for drifting and daily
Since 1 year
How are they holding up mate?

Minor inconvenience for the $230 USD I paid for them 🤣
What 2011 GT are you referring to exactly?
its a pillow bearing, grease it and the knock stops, plus they have to bed in for bout a month then readjust.
I'm kinda baffled by the fact they weigh the EXACT same amount. You'd think they'd be at least a half a pound lighter.
@@Bbeavis agree they wouldn't be suitable for your time attack. But for what they are and for people on a tight budget, they'll do just fine.
Some of them are okay some are not. The COT6 coilovers are actually surprisingly good.
Thanks that-one-guy. Good to know that max-p are offering some less-cheap products, COT6 on face value looks much nicer than their basement spec product reviewed in this video.
you should lower your standard if BC-R is low end to too -.-
Hey Nozzy thanks for watching!
BEAVIS Motorsport I'm from Norway so i know all about little market, and i base my awnsers around that
tein street basis, xida
It's crazy the amount of poors trying to justify these lmao. These are hot garbage. I think the real thing is most people have never really used good coilovers (Ohlins etc) which is why they think junk like this is acceptable.
I honestly think you are quite right, and for the most part agree with you. There seems to be a lot of ignorance of what is actually "good".
No, the car was not corner weighted, really that would have been a waste of time. These things aren't worth the trouble.
Thanks for the feedback Tuna, glad to hear you're at least happy with them :)
I wouldn’t say “happy” but content with the cost in comparison to all OE replacement shocks/springs, and top hats, considering they were all completely destroyed when the car was originally purchased.
Tuna Garage i hrard ppl actually buy these because the quality of the strut is good but everything else is bad or something like that and ppl just rebuild them with better parts. so in the end still comes out cheaper than actual good brand.
i want to see the follow up review i disagree even great coilovers make noise though.
I'll be sure to post an update with a few months once I've put a few more miles on them. :)
So did the maxpeeding rods hold up?
Thad Beard don’t hold your breath. In another comment of the same age as this one he told someone they were “so bad he had to remove them!”, so who knows.
Just did a miata front end, new kyb shocks, new upper and lower control arms and ball joints and the car feels so much better. Youd get more for your money bringing back to stock with new ball joints and bushings than knockoff coilovers. New ball joints will make way more of a difference than new springs
I have indeed gone back to OEM shocks, wayyyyyyy better than these chinese coilovers.
@@Bbeavis
Got cha.

You fr, support the supplier my ass. Support the real companies that designed these products...
I put some of these on a 06 civic, worst ride quality I have ever experienced in a car, I set them up properly and every single bump felt like a hammer was hitting my spine.
That sounds a lot like the same experience I had.
So I just installed this brand with 24 adjustable damper, pretty damn happy with how they perform. WH2 Statesman.
Oh cool I didn't know they did Holdens. What'd they set you back?
Me buy a 5k car, you buy a 50k car.. both crashes.. is the 50k less damaged? $400 coil overs have been using and is still. It’s like a great value brand. Does that mean it ain’t good? All you buying with those expensive parts are just the brand name. Note: everything is made in China and if not well the equipment use to make it is from China. 🤷🏾♂️ $400/600 coil overs are great just choose the correct one
You buy a 5k car, sure it drives, but it doesn't get you to your destination with the same level of speed, comfort or safety. No difference with coilovers, sure cheap shit will hold your car up off the ground, but it won't get you around a corner with the same level of performance.
mate i have had the maxpeeding coilover kit in my vt commodore for 2 over 2 years now. yes they are stiff but handling along with strutt braces and aftermarket sway bars the old vt handles like a dream.. and thats hard for a vt-vz... i put them in because they were cheaper than a new set of struts and rear shocks and havent looked back. the only knocking noise i got was from a lower ball joint. maybe you could have installed them wrong?
i have a picture of mine after 2 years and the shocks still bounce back like they should. cant post pic here though
I haven't seen an adjustable option for the MX-5 Miata.
BEAVIS Motorsport idk about the miata I believe they do I have my kit on my CZcams channel e46
Thanks mate this review helped me choose whether to go cheap or expensive. Legend
Cool, what did you end up deciding on?
Sorry you didn't have a great experience, none the less I hope you still got a bit of fun out of the video :)
Its terrible advertising.... and the fact that spelling/grammatical error didnt make it passed QC, is worrying.
Race land makes badass coil overs for around 500 I’ve used them for decade now at least never had a real issue aside from a scratch or so during shipping
Haven't heard of them in my part of the world, but a quick google suggest they aren't too bad for an entry level coilover.
BEAVIS Motorsport ok makes sense.
Thanks mate, glad you can appreciate the perspective. I do think these are perhaps "worse" on a miata than other larger cars.
Yessss!! Was looking forward to this one man!
Thanks GH! :)
Hahaha sup Jesse!

I didn't realise you could see my speedometer.
I sometimes come back to this video just to browse through the comments. So many people willing to die on the hill of "maxpeedingrods" 😅
Haha. You're funny, I like you. 😝
Ive never scrolled so far down on a comment section, this is f**ing gold xD
Have to agree with you there, lots of entertainment :)
Thanks for sharing Pavel. I am glad you found a solution that worked for you.
