  • How to power bleed or flush brakes with a Motive Power Bleeder - Mazda MX5 Miata ND ND2
as a preparation for the season this I did flush the OEM fluid in my 2019 Mazda MX5. To my help I used a Motive Power Bleeder. The Motive power bleeder pressurizes the brake system from the fluid container said. The Motive Power Bleeder is then filled with brake fluid and keeps the providing brake fluid while flushing/bleeding the brake system. The adapter I used for my ND2 was part number 1118 together with the thicker gasquet.

In my case I will use Motul RBF 600 brake fluid and hopefully it will be possible to push the brake a bit further than the with the OEM fluid. I have previously installed Carbotech XP10 and XP8 brake pads, together with the updated brake fluid the braking capabilities should have increased quite a bit.

I use your videos to learn to work on my car. Thank you for sharing, I'm about to do the same job.

Thank you for posting these videos. I have been wanting to purchase a ND2 and prep it for light duty track and AutoX use, but prices are very high right now. One thing that I am having difficulty deciding on is the Brembo package (which in the US is only available on the Club trim - minus the 30AE -and currently comes bundled with the aero kit, BBS wheels, and Recaro seats) versus the standard brakes. Pads and fluid are easy enough to change and I could always replace the standard calipers and rotors with something aftermarket (like the Wilwoods), but it is nice to keep things factory when possible. I really wish that Mazda would take the Club trim to the next level and offer it (from the factory) with a more aggressive suspension setup.

sorry for the late reply and thank you. Glad you appreciate the videos.
If you want to drive the car on track/auto-x I would say the Recaros should be a minimum unless going for a real bucket seat that is.
From what I head the standard brakes with other pads and fluid are good. What I can say for the brembos at least here is that the pads were really expensive aftermarket calipers will most likely have more common sizes which will bring the consumable cost down.
With regards to the suspension setup the car rolls, leans, dives to much for my test in standard form and also it is sitting way to high. Coilovers was a must for me. Lowering spring and swaybars will take care of most of those things as well. However I am not sure what regulations you have there with regards to e.g. Auto-x and modifications/classes
But is sure is a fun car! But it is no GT3 RS which I can see in your pic :D

Because you used a different fluid, did you bleed your clutch fluid as well to avoid cross contamination? I believe the clutch fluid takes from the brake fluid reservoir

Tnx much appreciated!you are correct would have been best to change for the clutch as well. The short answer is I did not have the time 🤪. Will do it at a later stage....

@@Themazcorner Good to know! I ended up purchasing the motive bleeder as well with the adaptor - the video was very helpful

Great! It was really simple to use. The adaptor will turn and get tight but you won't feel any notch or or so I didn't at least

How much new brake fluid did you put into the bleeder? I bought 2L of the Motul 600, should I pour all of it in for this job? I plan to flush the OEM fluid and replace it all with the Motul.

I don't remember now but I think 2 bottles should be sufficient.
The thing is once you have opened the bottles they will start accumulating moisture so you cannot have it on the shelf for to long.
But 2l should be sufficient for the task. You can always get one more and have it for future bleeding/flushes

Not sure to be honest. Best is to contact Motivr or if you can see any comments on Amazon etc from people that have used
