  • 14 Dead in Billboard Disaster: Will "Spirit of Mumbai" Excuse Work Now? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Rains brought a dust storm to Mumbai on Monday. The storm knocked down a giant billboard in Ghatkopar, killing at least 14 people and injuring 74. After the disaster unfolded, Mumbai's municipal corporation said that the billboard was illegal. The corporation has belatedly promised to remove other illegal billboards in the city. Meanwhile, Monday's rains led to train delays and a stampede in Thane. It's the same story every year, where the people of Mumbai are subjected to horrible conditions and their tolerance in lauded as the "Spirit of Mumbai". Has the "Spirit of Mumbai" become an excuse for officials to not do their jobs?

Delhi is even worse. In fact Delhi has already been destroyed under the weight of over-population.
Too much pollution, overcrowding, lack of open spaces, lack of greenery, frustrated and angry people who don't have even an iota of patience, most of the people just don't have even basic traffic sense/civic sense or in general you can say common sense 😂😂.
Mountains of filth, e rickshaws and motor rickshaws ruling the streets without following traffic rules properly. Etc etc etc. The list is very long.
Too many people are migrating to Delhi, particularly from bihar and eastern UP and burdening further the already burdened infrastructure. Indian govt must have to build other cities or provide employment to people by investing and opening factories in tier 2 and 3 cities which are already in existence.

Look at how the traffic makes a joke of lane discipline, spitting and throwing garbage in public spaces, even open defecation when alternative toilets are available. The government agencies are just echoing this chalta hai culture and attitude.
