Welcome to my video on DX Daijinryuu [大神龍] from Gosei Sentai Dairanger [五星戦隊ダイレンジャー]!
As I mentioned in the post on my site, I never really intended to make a video on this toy. Daijinryuu isn't a mecha, nor is he anywhere close to being to scale with the actual DX Dairanger mecha. He's just there. I've kinda been able to look past all of that, though, and today I am bringing you my take on DX Daijinryuu for my 11th Anniversary here on CZcams.
DX Daijinryuu comes with...nothing. He does have a light and sound feature where he emits a roar and a small red light from his chest using two AA batteries. It's nothing special and isn't too dissimilar from what DX Daimugen does.
As noted on the awesomely decked-out box, this guy is big. 450mm standing and a length of 740mm in dragon mode. I really like all of the little details through. The gold flecks in the plastic give the toy some extra detail that is on par with DX Won Tiger. The likeness is really good as well, though the gold chrome may be a bit too much...
Unfortunately for Daijinryuu, Dairanger mecha is also large. While standing, he isn't a whole lot taller than DX Dairenoh. Same goes for Daimugen, which Daijinryuu was able to crush under his foot. Being an early 90s toy also means that it is loaded up with horrible, horrible decals. Maybe they could've added some more sounds while they were at it as well.
Daijinryuu naturally got a release in Bandai America's Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers toyline as Serpentera. The only difference I can spot between Daijinryuu and Serpentera is the horrible safety horns that they used on Serpentera. From what I understand, though, these can be trimmed down if you're skilled with a knife. Also, EVA_Unit_4A pointed out that Serpentera does not have any electronics. No big loss there...
Now I know what you may be thinking...what's up with the little Daimugen? Well, it was not included with Daijinryuu rather it was sold separately and made by Bandai subsidiary Yutaka. I'll be taking a closer look at that one next time.

Congrats on 11 years on CZcams. :) Yeah I was surprised that Daijinryuu had light and sounds as I once owned Serpentera and yes the light and sounds were removed? With the sound I can sort of understand why as it sounds similar to a Godzilla roar. LOL. Great review as always though. :)
Thanks man! The changes on the horns are a bummer, but man...the lack of electronics doesn't make a lick of difference. I'm not even sure why they bothered in the majority of 90s Sentai toys. Hahaa

For the Deluxe Serpentera (which I have), the horns were remolded (which is noticeable _but not necessarily offensive_ ), and the electronics were removed with the remolded battery compartment door inaccessible and sealed shut during manufacturing.
_Wow,_ I didn't know Daijinryuu had only _one_ sound. What a massive waste of space considering, Won Tiger and Dai Mugen both had two sounds each and they were more compact!

Before Death from the recent Puss in Boots movie and the gods of destruction and angels from the Dragonball Super seris, there was Daijinryuu.
If the JSDF tackled with Godzilla's nonsense on a regular basis and thwomped Destoroyah the years after Dairanger's airing, they couldn't stop this thing. In the words of Optimus Prime from the final issues of Marvel's Transformers ' It's so BIG!! WE CAN'T FIGHT THAT THING!!'

Happy 11th Anniversary CCLemon99 and here's to the next 11 years. I've never seen the English instructions for Biorobo before. That came out when Bandai America was in my backyard more or less. Hahaa.

Awesome review as usual, but I'm surprised that you didn't mention the Power Rangers counterpart, Serpentera, like you typically would. Huh!? No rating, either?? Better call the Ghostbusters...

Oh, I never give mecha ratings. Going back to Daizyujin in 2008. Too many variables and too much static from people who will likely never own these toys. It was easier to skip it and keep the ratings to the regular toys.
I didn’t mention Serpentera because I couldn’t find many quality photos of it. The only thing that looks different to me is the horrible webbing on the horns. I’ll add a paragraph once I can see some details a little better.
Daijinryu has a distinct roar/growl and he gets a variation of Godzilla's roar as a toy? I am both okay and upset by that.
Yeah, it’s a drag how weak it turned out. They at least could have added some variation.
CCLemon99 Agreed. Plus if you are going to use one of Godzilla's roars pick one of his powerful ones. Was the Vs Biolentte roar to much to ask for?
I wasn't able to post this on your blog but that 1992 Toei movie "Prediction of the Destroyer" or whatever it is called has peaked my interest. I hope you review someday.

CCLemon99 It asked for a Google Blog account. I can't recall my password and I am on my phone not home. So I commented here. Really? You called it a "chase Toku" episode so It's Kamen Rider J-like? Either way the video tape cover looks great and caught my attention.

I'm kinda going off hazy memory, but both chapters are about an hour each and Tremesistan doesn't appear until the last like five minutes. The fight is more exciting than it probably really is because at that point you're just like "OMG Something is finally happening!!". More than Shin, Tremesistan only appears during a night battle...so a lot of the suits details are completely obscured in the actual film.
Yeah, I'm really going to have to watch it again. Hahaa. It's been too long.
CCLemon99 Well I can't wait because the suit looks neat and I'm always game for Giant Monster action. I mean their is human action right?
