  • Tomato Soup - One Pot - No Broth - Vegetarian Tomato Soup - The Hillbilly Kitchen
This is a delicious creamy tomato soup that is sure to warm up the coldest winter day or make a quick meal on a summer evening. It is an easy one pot soup. Pair it with a classic grilled cheese, bread sticks, rolls, top it with a sprinkle of cheese or just snuggle up by the fire with a warm cup and sip away the winter chills.
This is actually Samantha’s recipe. We served it at YesterYear Country Market and everyone loved it. She called it Tomato Bisque. I call everything you eat in a bowl or cup with a spoon soup (or cereal). I did look up the difference between soup, chowder, and bisque. Turns out Granny was right, soup covers it all 😊
Remember, to put God first! :)
    Ingredients:
4 cups Tomatoes (Fresh, Canned, Whole or Diced)

    ½ teaspoon Garlic
    ½ teaspoon Basil
    1 ½ tablespoons Sugar
    1/2 teaspoon of salt

Made my tomato soup this morning and will enjoy it with a grilled cheese sandwich for supper, This truly is one of the best tomato soups i have ever made. I'm now 80 and try to keep my life simple. Made some honey whole wheat bread Monday shared with my daughter and great grand kids. God continues to provide for me. I lost my husband 3 years ago.We were married 60 years. He was almost 81. I miss him every day but I now that Gods plan for us is not ours. I rejoice in the knowledge that someday we will see each other again and be together. Stay strong and as you say PUT GOD FIRST. Thank you for sharing recipes and GODS word. In Christian love from Oklahoma.

It was nice to see you smile. A couple of days after my husband passed I was walking through a grocery store parking lot thinking pleasant thoughts of him, smiling. One of my in laws saw me and became very mad. We were together 40 years but they acted like I never loved him. I still do. You’re absolutely right when the Lord wants you, your time is up. Yes, he lived another 2 life times. He also had to learn that God was God and Job was not. Pray that he will not have to give you a trial in which you wish you were dead. While others have difficulty don’t be proud about your false idea of how your faith keeps God doing what you perceive as his will.

One of my late husband's favorite meals was tomato soup and grilled cheese. My husband was sick for a long period. During that time I had to be the provider. We faced some other troubles like losing our home in a fire. At one point quite a few troubles piled up and a friend/colleague jokingly called me Jobette because I just accepted and kept moving. What choice is there? Anyway I laughed a bit with her but told her that I considered it a compliment to be associated with Job in any way as I admired his faith. Just hang in there

@@carolburnett8372 She said it was a friend of hers, and I don't see the problem here. If you can't be open and honest with a friend then you may want to reevaluate the status of said friendship. Sometimes laughing at your situation with a friend can offer a sense of relief and can help to relax someone. It's kinda like a verbal hug. It is very important to have a good sense of humor in life and knowing God and His Word gives us the joy of the Lord that surpasses all understanding and which cannot be taken away from us. If you don't have a relationship with God I hope and pray you will seek to know Him. God bless you. ❤🙏✝️🇺🇲

    • @iyaayas
      @iyaayas Před 2 lety +4

**hugs** THANKS FOR THAT! I've been wondering how to encourage somebody who calls our earthly death "loss". I probably wouldn't use this while someone is hurt and crying for his or her loved one but probably in a casual conversation or a conversation of meeting and greeting a Christian I know for the first time.
My friend (an orphan from tweenage years) and I went to Bible College together and we got on the topic of how people try to skirt around specific words and phrases in order to "soften the blow" of the harsh realities of the situation.
We decided that while their intentions are good when they do so, they take a lot of meaning away from the situation and add a lot of new harsh meaning to words and phrases that weren't meant to be harsh. She would hear adults talking to each other, "She lost her father when she was 8 and then her mother a couple years later when she was 10" and think to herself, "My parents aren't lost, they're dead and in the ground. When they died, since they believed in Jesus, they also went to Heaven." While we did come to this conclusion, we also realized that it is an emotional and physical loss to us so it's not completely wrong, we were just analyzing a less awkward way of saying, "What do you mean you lost your dog?" without hurting someone and made it a point to let those close to us know that we CAN use all the words related to "dead" when referring to our loved one's death.
On a different shorter note: awesome, perfect, torture, starving, "I'm dying", "can't wait", and other exaggerations I won't let my kids use unless they're true should be used sparingly in order to prevent the dilution of the true meaning of the word. Even literally has been diluted to mean figuratively so it's hard to communicate to those who don't know me when I say, "I'm literally serious, your driving right now is almost perfect for someone with your 4 hours worth of parking lot and cemetery plus 1 hour of road driving experience. Don't worry about the driver honking behind you. You're good." My teenage daughter knows me enough to where I can take the first three words out and everyone else would think they're doing really bad anyway and think I'm just being nice.

NO DAIRY, NO GLUTEN: I came back here to tell you I just made this Tomato Soup recipe. I used the exact measurements you suggest. I used (no gluten) rice flour and unsweetened soymilk instead of dairy. Put melted non-dairy butter in the soymilk before adding. Sauted the onion, etc. in "Melt" nondairy butter, too. It turned out EXCELLENT! Even with all the no gluten, no dairy changes, it was great! In case someone else out there needs to know. This is a great recipe! Thanks~!

My spouse and I were watching it and I said "I wonder if I could modify canned tomato soup" a few minutes later, you told me how! Today was a hard day, my husband has a tooth ache and an appointment next week for an extraction. He can hardly eat but has been successful eating a little tomato soup at times. So today I took a 50 oz can of condensed tomato soup, added a pint of half and half (and a stick of butter) and put it in the slow cooker. I wasn't able to be home all day but my husband was able to eat a little of it several times during the day. Thank you so much for the idea. Bless you.

I've never had home-made tomato soup before. I love tomato soup, so I know I will love this. Thank you for sharing. Beck, I wanted to tell you something. Last year I went to a doctor and she put me on some medication and it just about killed me. I kept telling her something was wrong every week or every two weeks and she still wouldn't listen to me. I would go to the ER and they told me , " you need to get to another doctor ". I told them I've tried, but because of covid I couldn't find another doctor. Finally, after 3 months of this I found a doctor to help me, but because of what she did now my body is messed up for the rest of my life. I also believe that when God decides its our time to be called home it is our time. But... I have never been so scared in all my life. I wasn't afraid of where I would going if I died, I was scared because I didn't know what was wrong with me. I felt so helpless. I prayed and prayed and God helped me get to the doctors I needed to be at, but I wonder if this will end up being what kills me later on in my life all because of a doctor that didn't care? It is not right they these kind of doctors get away with it in my opinion. I don't know what happened to Bret, but it does sound like he had a doctor that didn't care. If that so I'm so sorry. I will continue to pray for you and your family. God bless you honey. 🙏🙏🙏❤

I was just wondering whether to try almond or coconut milk in this so the newbie can eat it. I can't decide which flavor would go better with tomatoes.

This is a big one.. God's Timing makes no sense to me most of the time.. Believing is hard when understanding isn't always easy. What I try to think about is Heaven.. and being with Jesus.. to be in a place if peace and joy and no sin.. that is where all believers are destined for... I can't imagine we'd ever consider returning after being with Jesus. But saying that.. I admit to still not understanding.

Thanks for the tip on adding low-fat milk! I think it’s true about canned soup too. Growing up and making canned tomato soup with low-fat milk, it always seemed to get clumpy and nasty. Finally I started just using water and it was fine. The advice you gave about mentally separating circumstances from timing really resonated with me. I haven’t experienced a major loss, but still I was affected by what you said. When the inevitable heavy losses do come, I know your words will still be in my heart for me to draw from. I’m not sure I agree with not placing blame. What if whatever happens is actually criminal? Blame then does need to be placed. I don’t know what the circumstances were for Brett and Becky, and yes, it was God’s timing for Brett, but if neglect or actual abuse was involved then blame should be placed. I’m not saying that neglect or abuse was a factor, we all make errors in judgment. However, vengeance is the Lord’s, and if a criminal act occurred (for anything) then blame absolutely has to come into play. We just can’t let someone’s wrong doing fester in us. That’s why forgiveness is crucial.

One of the best suggestions I’ve ever read regarding health is to know more about what is wrong with you than your doctor does. That has saved my life more than once and my dogs life too.
That being said, we only have to look at all the stories of people who died when they shouldn’t have and people who should have died and somehow didn’t to know that when we die is not in our control.

I make tomato soup occasionally. I use whole milk, tomato sauce, and cornstarch instead of cream, tomatoes, and flour. I do put cornstarch in with the milk. It’s great! I even cook it in a low microwave sometimes. It is creamy and delicious. I use most all the other ingredients you use. I prefer it to be lower fat but I do use the butter. It makes it even better. I need to try the V8 juice. I used to make a low calorie chili with V8 or Snappy Toms. I’m not even sure they make it anymore. Lol. I will be trying your recipe because I always love them all. Years ago a friend taught me to make tomato soup from a can of tomatoes and she put about a teaspoon of baking soda in the tomatoes before adding the low fat milk to keep the milk from clumping or curdling. The soda makes it foam but you just quickly stir in the milk and it works great. No clumpy milk!!! 😃👍🏼

Thank you Becky for this post and speaking to us about Job and forgiveness. I lived in your neck of the woods. I have some of the same issues in health as Brett. After living there for a while, I found that that neck of the woods was hard to find a good Dr. So we were having a hard time finding a job. My sister lived in Ohio and had a little rental house that she let us rent from her. We were about 1/2 hour from the Cleveland Clinic. I couldnt believe what a good medical center it was. It is the only reason I am still here today but that could change tomorrow. We saw the direction the nation was headed and decided to move to a different country. It seems good so far. We have been here 2 years. I will be turning 70 in another year or 2. We are monitoring what is happening but home is in Scotland. We want to get back there soon but dont know if that will ever happen. Still miss my neck of the woods in Tennessee. God is good and we will still follow Him no matter what. Forgiveness is sometimes hard but I personally ask God to help me thru it and He always does. Love Him to bits and wishing you the very best in all that you do. Just love your channel.

Dear Meryl. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Please forgive me for what I'm about to say and believe that it comes with the best of intentions. In many 12 step groups there is a saying that before somebody can take the first step, they first have to make a decision. The addict HAS to want to get better, has to be sick and tired of being sick and tired. Unfortunately, without that desire there is no hope. Again, I'm so very sorry for you, you have nothing to forgive yourself for. You loved him and tried to help . His suffering is over, now it's time for you.
