  • The 122km long Hubbard Glacier in the Yukon and Alaska is the largest tidal water glacier in the world. Today I got a chance to fly to this remote glacier in a small 4 seater on skis and land on the actual glacier icefield!
Along with Matt and Karla from mustdocanada.com, we flew over the St. Elias Mountain range which is the highest coastal mountain range in the world. The mountains didn't look all that big from the sky. This is because they are covered in over a kilometer of snow and ice and only the tops are visible. Many of these mountain haven't ever been climbed never mind been named. This is one of the most remote places I have ever been. Seeing this for the first time made my heart skip a beat. Its hard to describe the incredible beauty and vastness of this place.
We got to see Canada's tallest mountains here including Mount Augusta, Mount Steele and Mount Logan which all boarder the State of Alaska.
The ice at the foot of Hubbard Glacier is about 400 years old: it takes that long for ice to traverse the length of the glacier. The Kaskawulsh Glacier is a vast, temperate valley glacier nestled in the St. Elias Mountains, within Kluane National Park in the Canadian territory of Yukon.

You've had some pretty big smiles on your face in your videos, but this was the biggest smile I have seen. That place is SO COOL! I would have also had the immediate thought of, "I can climb that and I can NAME that mountain." Question-- what was the big pile of stuff on the ground when the plane landed? Is that emergency supplies in case anyone gets stuck out there?

Thank you so much, I really appreciate that. This was an incredibly special experience for me and I get so excited looking back on it. A very special and unique place that I wont ever forget. I'll climb one of them one day;)
The pile of stuff is actually the airport. It has shovels to dig tires out of snow and some survival and communication gear I think. Every summer they go back and find the coordinates and dig it back out of the snow.

New subscriber here, but I am so completely in love with Canada....and I'm from Texas. hahaha. Drove from Tok AK, across Canada down to Texas this summer. It's all I can do to keep from moving up there. Such a humbling experience for you and your team. Thank you so much for making these videos. :)

Welcome and thank you for subscribing! I'm so happy to hear you are linking some of my content. It is a beautiful country for sure. You've done a fair bit of driving yourself! I've done parts of that drive and loved it! So many places in the world to see. What parts of Canada interest you for the most part?

I loved Yukon because it was the most remote place I have ever been and I pulled over almost every 30-45 min for landscape photos. I hope to explore Manitoba and the Northwest Territories. I will be sure to check out more of your videos before I book any trips. Keep up the great work. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Ah I know what you mean. Yukon is one of my favorites. How far up did you go? If you go to Manitoba and want an experience, go up to Churchill to see the Polar Bears in the winter or Beluga Whales in the summer. I made a video about swimming with the wild whales. That is probably one of my top life experiences. If you have the chance, do it!

MILE30 Adventures Well, I was taking a Great Dane back to Texas for a friend of mine who was moving back to Texas from Alaska and needed her dog driven... Haha. I invited my parents along for the ride (they're older and had never left the country). It was an adventure for all of us, but we kept to the mighty Al-Can highway. We hit Destruction Bay, Haines Junction, Whitehorse and so on. Of course, Banff was everything I hoped it would be... But Yukon still has my heart. Haha.
