Living in a Van in Vancouver
zhlédnutí 3,3KPřed 5 lety
While living the van life on Vancouver Island last month, I took a break from the van for a day and decided to SCUBA dive down to explore the shipwreck of an old military destroyer ship called the HMCS Saskatchewan. It was sunk in 120 feet of water just off shore of Nanaimo, British Columbia. I chartered a boat to get us to the dive site and a local diver guided my friend Bria and I down to the...

I wish people put the song title and artist credit in the description if they're going to use it for themselves.
I wager the museum will put it behind some chains surrounding the bus, and then charge just to look at the outside parts. I bet they'll never let a paying customer enter the bus to investigate the inside, let alone hang out sitting on the bed or chair. I'm just taking an educated guess though. I can't say I honestly know anything about what they'll be doing.
he survived THREE MONTHS off the land as he intended...from the journal, it looks like he was hunting well enough and getting food ...i think it was the poison seeds that made it so no matter how much he ate, he starved...and people say he was an idiot who had no business in the alaskan wilderness...it would be so great if all of us never made the biggest mistakes of our youth...'he should have known the river was going to block his way and kill him!" ...let's apply that to everyone equally then....you all have to never ever make any error or miscalculations never ever ever! ...he was 24....a kid...he wanted to see if he could do it...AND HE DID IT!! ...for three months! and then some bad things happened that he didn't foresee ...all the haters go be your perfect selves with your perfect lives and perfect decisions and perfect outcomes from all your perfect choices :P
I found so many other videos that I was confused on and started getting really angry after their unclear instruction, but urs are so much easier to follow and understand thank you so much u just made my packing so much easier
This was probably one of the last videos there… I wish they left the bus there but I understand why they had to move it… R.I.P.
That's why they moved the bus back to town, because so many idiots keep tring to commit suicide.
A millenial with a rich daddy goes off exploring, chartering helicopters as needed. Not needing to work to support yourself and pay bills must be a real blessing
IT IS VERY CONFUSING TO WATCH WITH ALL THE DIFFERENT VIEWING ANGLES ! BUT STILL , THANK YOU FOR SHARING :) THANK YOU FROM ISRAEL :)
I'm not that bright, I get lost at the tucking portion
Thank you so much, it helped me a lot 🎉
I love that movie and it has inspired me to go out and just live life roaming around and just be. live fearlessly, and Hence, I started my travelling channel, Thanks to Chris :)
Really helpful especially for thr down jackets. Thanks
The bus is deep into the forest . Usually people who love nature don’t tend to vandalize things.also the bus is like a memorial place .
What a cool story. Glad they did find a safe museum to allow people to connect With Chris.
I had a similar trip a few weeks with a wonderful family Loved Haïti and the people. I travelled a lot but this trip was the one that marked me the most. Every part was a challenge, some parts where scary, ressources where scarce where I was, no roads, electricity, showers or toilets and nearest market a few hours of walk but still, it was the most important and impressive trip that I ever experienced. I see you also went to the Bassin bleu. I do miss that fresh water and beautiful scenery..but what I miss the most are the Ti-mounes (kids) ❤
Like anything else these days, its just become a 'must do' simply because its something to post on social media. Or to find a way to monetise via SM. If SM didn't exist, no one would give a rat's a** about an old bus in the wilderness.
Thank you! 🥰
These are great to know if you're going to be packing a bug-out bag too. It'll leave plenty of room still for survival gear and you'll still have that change of clothes just in case.
why my roll gets pointy?
The only other movie besides ET that i cried. super emotional story. find your tribe guys, the world is what Chris said it would become all along. Peace ;-)
czcams.com/video/8Z9wB_NHcoc/video.html
It’s a travesty that the bus was even disturbed. American Indians go bat shit crazy when someone even disturbs some earth anywhere near ancient burial grounds. For fans of the book and the movie, and for people who were genuinely touched by Jon Krakauer’s novel, this is our burial grounds. It should have been left for good to let people journey to the bus to touch it and grieve for Chris, it’s a damn shame .
If it's so tough to get there, how did the bus get driven in?
It was for mining or lumber back in like the 60s. Most likely waited for the river to be at its lowest and used bulldozers or other heavy equipment. Read a comment a while back that said about a mile away there was an easier crossing if chris had a map or explored more he could have found it.
I look at this like 50 times is so fucking hard
Hi my friend .. we will wish buy your camper van, i saw you in market place 😂 we are traveler too.. in this moment in Colombia, but our the plans are alaska. 💪
To this day that bus is no longer there now just wish they left it there and my he rest and fly high now
Its wierd people romanticize what chris wanted to do by getting away from society. But ignore the fact that he regretted it and wanted to be back home when he was dying.
How is it that nobody has ever explained just this city bus from Fairbanks AK ever arrived at this ridiculously remote spot????
I'm sorry to say, but the Wheels are to the left not right
No one that worships money can understand the story truly, including the two dudes that are on that bus.
I heard they removed the bus because of so many people dying
Terima kasih caranya kak
he did it to find inure peace
Be a good place to have a camp.
How do you do shorts
😢❤😢❤
When all else fails have one pair of clothing on and go into the showers ...... then let them air dry on your body.......use your body heat to dry those threads😂😂😂 ummmm Air Force brat right here.......lol then all youll need is one continuous pair or set of clothing.........wear that sucker over and over and over till you need a new set.......my momma called it ruffing it 😊😅
How did the bus get there?
It would have been very intriguing to see if you guys could find the potato seeds that ultimately led to his death. Like how many were available to him. Just to see how close to starvation he really was. And expounded on how much wildlife there is in the area. Even close ups of the river and touched base on that to show how low it gets vs how high it gets in the months of his demise.
"We chartered a helicopter" Probably the smartest thing anyone's ever done. Instead of trekking a dangerous trail.
The fact people didn't draw any graffiti on that bus is the best thing
What exactly are you doing on the return trip? Are you rolling all your dirty clothes too?
Me and the wife used this method many years ago on a 10 day bike trip. Five sets of clothes each so we only had to do laundry once.
Now there is no bus
I thought they took that bus out when he died and replaced it with another one
They definitely didn't replace it with another bus wtf lol the bus was taken out of there, but it was after this video was filmed. The bus was removed because people were getting lost trying to get to it, and they considered it a safety hazard.
Looking at the details, I think he chose to die. He could have survived or tried to survive, but he did not. It seemed that he was feeling great internal psychological happiness and wanted to end his life at this stage. From his life story, he was not very attached to life.
Cringe
Where’s the respect when so many come in, dig out artefacts, sleep in ur bed, make up so much fake emotions… :-/
