For me it's still MY Wife Unohana :). And also Chigiri Furofushi and Furuoki. Also I think Shigyo is the giant dog that Komamura meets.

Im so confused about the timeline. Unohana clearly already had a ''staff'' of some sort when she fought Zeraki, but apparently the Gotei wasnt created yet, so then who were those people with her, adressing her like she was their Captain?
Honestly, I must say, I am quite happy these captains arent all related in some way to the current captains. I get the similarities and I completely understand the appeal to connecting them to current day captains, but I was worried it would just end up being another Naruto, where your family name basically decides your role in life (fights with shadows, bugs, animals, being fat, whatever), which I always found to be very uninteresting.

Makes sense that most of the Nobles were not in the original Gotei. They wouldn't want to mix in with such criminals. But as the Gotei became a more prestigious and elite organization, the Noble houses allowed their children to join.
But I’m a bit surprised that the Shihoin Clan chose to get their hands dirty as opposed to the Shiba. As they didn’t care about nobility, even as far back as the original ancestor who was the least willing to butcher the Soul King.

@@mra3076 I think the Shiba clan has always been full of good natured people with hearts of gold. The thought of one of them in Original Gotei doesn't sit well. The Shihoin are a lot murkier, given that the second division is all about straight up assasination. Seeing Chika kicking off heads as a martial arts master killer just works lol

Obviously teenager Kyoraku had a massive crush on Captain Katori and when he took over the division all his Lieutenants were subconciously picked because of "Type".

It would be an interesting twist if Sakahone, the most evil, Grim Reaper-esque looking Soul Reaper was actually the nicest of the bunch. I could see a scenario where he gained a negative reputation just because he looked so unsettling.
I also wouldn't be surprised if Nobutsuna Shigyo also was actually nicer than his looks would suggest, because to me, in the anime, his 'smile' while killing the quincies didn't seemed as sinister as the others like Furofushi Saito's.
What do you think ?
I'm more wondering about what his life experience is like. He looks to be the oldest member of the first captains of the gotei 13.
I'm Japanese and don't worry, you didn't butcher names, it was pretty good.
1. East Rukon District 73 is called "Sakahone" and it is where Mimihagi-sama is enshrined. Some connection to Saizo Sakahone?
2. Furofushi literally means not aging and immortality. Where Kuchiki literally means rotten tree. Maybe there's some connection.
3. In Japan there are three important shrines. Ise Shrine, Kashima Shrine(鹿島), and Katori Shrine(香取). Batsu'unsai Katori(鹿取)'s characters are taken from Kashima Shrine and Katori Shrine. And Nanao Ise(伊勢)'s name is clearly taken from Ise(伊勢) Shrine. Probably there's connection.

zaraki and yachiru use the place they came from in rukongai as their last names. zaraki and kusajishi respectively. So its been done in bleach before.
Nanao's last name being ise alluded to her eventual zanpakuto. Does the katori shrine hold any artifact like the mirror?
According to your explanation, there should be some kind of a connection there. It seems right.

I noticed that some of her art were edited afterwards to have her stick out her tongue (the shot with all captains in the anime for instance, she wasn't sticking out her tongue in the preview we got shared first, but in the episode she was)
The 13th captain, Saizo. Really reminds me of a vulture, with how is posture is and in the flash back he gave me a scavenger feeling. Maybe his zanpaktou may have some sort of vulture ability or spirit/creature.
I agree and hope for this to be the correct path. I also have a theory that he might look so drained and skeletal and has that oversized haori because of an ability that increases his muscle/body mass or something of the like. Can’t wait for even more info on these badasses.

Unohana having her scar during the fight with the Quincy kinda brings to light something I've never really thought about.
Zaraki is the same age as, if not even older than, Kyoraku and Ukitake, which is... wild to me.
Good point. Though I kinda feel like it's one of those things Kubo never thought out properly and probably never intended that to be the case.
Holy shit, I didn’t consider that. He must have been wandering around the Rukongai for like… 1k years then?? He nerfed his own power after wrecking Unohana then gradually became stronger over a millennia. Neat.
It would be really cool if Saito was a crush of Kyoraku's when he was a kid. Due to his boyish crush, she becomes imprinted on his soul as his zanpakto and inspires his personality in later life.
Sort of like spiritual grooming in a sense. lol

I think that would be a cool idea and really show some connective tissue between shunsui and someone else from the original squad. The similarities are there and it seems too apparent to be a coincidence

Not sure if Tommo mentioned this in a previous video, but for Danjiro Obana (first 5th squad captain looking like a member of the Shiba clan) there are other videos of people who zoomed in the original image of all the captains together and you can see the Shiba emblem on his zanpakuto. My guess is that he married into the Shiba household but kept his own name, having his genes being carried forward and potentially being Ichigos great-grandaddy.
Or a precursor to somebody who marries into the Shiba clan.
He might have a daughter who marries a shiba man and carries the name forward

The fact that Unohana has that scar by then implies that Zaraki is even older than Ukitake and Kyoraku.

Not really we know that Shunsui looked about the same age as Zaraki 1000 years ago.
true but i dont believe he is older, lots of gotei remember him becoming a captain and kyoraku and ukitake said unohana,yama,shunsui,ukitake are the oldest and yamamoto said ukitake and shunsui are like the first students of gotei. it doesnt add up unless zaraki became a captain already oldest there but doesnt seem right
@@Shadow-hu9pg nobody knows Zaraki’s age because it’s Zaraki and he was a murderer that roamed the Rukongai until he killed the Kenpachi at the time before he became captain. Zaraki is around the same age as Kyoraku and Ukitake
Kubo is lore building and it’s hard to not get excited. Like there’s no way Obana isn’t related to the Shibas.
He's easily my favorite design of the bunch. I think he's gonna be more playful and jokey than grim and serious. I really like his bracers and his zanpakuto design. I'm personally quite partial to wakazashis lol
Why? The only thing that makes him look similar to the Shiba is that he has a resemblance to Ganjo but none of the other Shiba even resemble that. Not Ichigo, Kaien or Isshin
What also is funny to me is that the first Captain of the 13th has the same name as the district of Rukongai where the shrine of Mimihagi is located

Ukitake never lived in Rukongai. His parents just went to that district to where Mimihagi's shrine was.

And not only that, but Sakahone's zanpakutou has ageing manipulation powers and his bankai manipulates time. He can increase or decrease the age of his opponent, and one side effect is that the person acquires white hair (just like Ukitake). It was said that Ukitake had an uncurable disease but was saved by Mimihagi, maybe there's a connection between the three of them.
something interesting about the old guy Saizo to me is that he is already very old back when the original Gotei 13 was formed, which means that he has to be one of if not the oldest Bleach character we’ve seen so far
Danjiro Obana could have married into the Shiba clan. In feudal Japan the husband or wife would take on the more prominent clans name rather than the more western system we generally use today. He probably took on the Shiba name.
The Squad 9 guy's weapon is called a Sword Breaker. The purpose is to catch and break the edge of blades, if not snap the blade off completely.
So break their sword, then bludgeon them to death. Makes sense
I'm surprised you didn't mention that Saizo Sakahone shares his last name with the district in Rukongai where Ukitake is from. I think that's a neat coincidence, and it begs the question if the district was named after him. Also, I personally believe he was mercy killing that Quincy befitting his aesthetic as a battle monk.
As for why there don't seem to be as many Nobles in the original lineup as there are in the present, I think it has more to do with the original Gotei's potential reputation as a collection of thugs.
Finally, speaking of that characterization, I always wonder if that was ever the full truth. We first hear it from Ywach, who has proven himself unable to understand selflessness, loyalty, or duty that isn't directed towards him in any real manner, and I personally think he just identified strongly with the traits of the original Gotei that he could understand and appreciate. I suppose Kubo might have said something similar, but all the same, I don't think it is the full truth. I personally think they were more like the modern Stërnritter, a collection of people distributed pretty widely on the morality spectrum who nonetheless came together and were merciless towards their enemies.
I think you have a solid connection i missed for sure. Ukitake being Captain of the 13th squad as well.
You’re right bro, we should never 100% trust what the villain says, I think that’s just what he saw them as and not what they were
actually the modern Sternritter are a bunch of savages who have no problem killing each other.... it is more likely that Ywach after his defeat tried to resemble the original gotei and trained his Sternritters to become this cruel bunch.
Chika Shihōin is definitely my favorite out of them.
Followed by Danjiro Obana and then a tie between Furuoki Otogawa and Kinroku Izuhara
What if Furofushi Saito was Kyoraku's first crush, (maybe she treated him similar to Yoruichi and Byakuya's relationship?) and so when Kyoraku got a Zanpakuto, it took the form similar to the woman he felt the most love for?

He might be setting up for the hell arc. It'd be kinda weird to show this many new designs with names and divisions without delving into them more. If the hell arc continues I think it's highly likely we'll see them again. They'd especially make great enemies with how vicious they are. Let's cross our fingers
Furofushi Saito is already a fan favorite and she’s only had two seconds of actual screen time and no dialogue.
She’ll rule the freakin universe if she’s ever featured in the anime going forward.

seriously pole arm wielders are grossly underrated and barely featured outside of samurai/dynasty warriors games.
Every girl with glasses in Bleach is very attractive.
@@windhelmguard5295 talking about weapons I always prefer Knives +Cut resistant gloves instead I always feel detached with long weapons but with knives I feel control and with hand to hand combat ability I feel like provides a distinct advantage over weapons like spears,axes and swords of course this all relies on your ability but it leaves nothing to chance.
The 4th captain sure gives me Hanataro Yamada vibes based on looks.
Seeing these characters made me wonder about a few things I'm hoping get revealed someday!
1) In the flashback provided, it seems like they were all still alive for the final battle with Yhwach. So if they died sometime after Yhwach was defeated, I wonder how they ended up dying? Did they end up killing each other, was it another threat, or did maybe Yhwach pull some deadly move off at the very end of the battle? Since we don't know how Yhwach managed to survive, maybe something happened there.
2) I wonder if they even ARE all dead. Surely some of them are, perhaps even all. But the only 2 we know of remaining (Yama/Uno) are present within the Gotei 13, but what if one (or some) of these characters are still alive somewhere? Maybe in exile, or in hiding, or perhaps in the Maggots Nest prison? A bit far fetched perhaps, but just an interesting thought.
3) If that one pirate looking captain was in fact part of the beast clan, it would make sense. Perhaps thats why Yama decided to show favor towards Komamura and ended up putting him as Captain of that squad. In a way, maybe in remembrance of this original captain?

Maybe Yamamoto killed some them, after he started to change his view on the Gotei 13s "nature". Unohana changed to "healer lifestyle", thats for sure, but we dont know about the other members.

I had this same question. I don't think it's far fetched to think some or all are still alive. I could see some in exile or even in prison with Aizen. Either way I feel since he showed us this much about them that he at some point goes more in depth on them. Maybe we see them in the hell arc or even get a movie about that time in the soul society. Maybe even a movie that leads to us seeing that huge battle with yhwach and the quincies
Dying is a possibility. Just because Yama and Unohana lived, doesnt mean others could too. everyone lives to be different ages. even when not interrupted by accidental deaths, but considering they were fighters, they could definitely have been killed fighting, also, as someone else said, being criminals and monsters, Muken for some is also a strong possibility.
It is not that deep. They just stepped down and did their own thing and captainship when to someone else and so on so on, or just died naturally in the Soul Society. Not like anyone would be interested in one role for over 1000 years lol
Batsunai Katori could be Shunsui's mother, and that is why he gravitates to black hair girls with eye glasses, and make them his 2nd in command. They remind him of his mother who he may have lost at a young age. His bond with his lieutenants seem closer than most other Captain/Lieutenant relationships, so much that he requested that she transfer to Squad 1 with him, and breaking prescedent by making her a co-lieutenant.
Or related to Nanao because their surnames Katori and Ise are names of actual shrines which are related in real life
I know it would never happen, and it might kill the mystery if it did, but imagine if there was a databook or something called "a history of the gotei 13" and it showed all the captains and lieutenants throughout the years and when each of them came and went
Chigiri Shijima is my favourite! I'd love to learn more about him. I'm a bit biased as I have a type when it comes to characters I like and he fits it pretty well. The lazy nonchalant, whatever man attitude he has really has me thinking he's one of it not the most lethal r of the original Gotei 13
All the original captains have extraordinary designs, it is perfect that we get some little information about them although I want to learn everything about each one of the original gotei thirteen.
It would be spectacular if a movie came out and it was about the original gotei thirteen unless they implant some additional content to the anime either before 1k blood year war arc ends or after, maybe around thirteen or twenty episodes where each episode is focused on each individual captain.
You know what I can see that. Like her purposely preys on weak dying opponents. And because In nature animal backed into a corner is the most unpredictable. He may love that as a challenge. Like kenpachi but sicker. Ooooooo. That’s tight
Nah man I want 120 episodes of the hell arc with flashbacks similar to the espada while Ichigo is cutting them down. None of this 20-30 episode bs I require more lore I crave it.
I love how in depth and well thought out you analysis on these characters is. I never thought I could learn so much from such small details.
The 3rd Division captain gives me big Nanami Kento vibes. The whole aesthetic of the 3rd division is that their members are sorta melancholic/sad. Im seeing him as a very tired business type who’s only interested in doing his job as efficiently and quickly as possible.
He looks like a member of a Yakuza gang
squad 3 is a "finish them off quickly" division but gin was playing about with everyone but if he wanted to, he was a deadly assasin since he basically had a sniper
Kyōraku must have found Lisa at some point and been like “damn, this girl looks a lot like Katori.” I mean, he and Ukitake must have known most of these 1st Gen Captains.
Seems like the 8th Division has a trend.
They could have met the captains at one point yeah.
Probably when they first started out as Yamamoto’s students.
Since in the flashback of young Shunsui, it seems to take place after the Quincy war since Yama has both scars and they’re looking at that painting of him.
@@Raion9813 Yeah, I figure Kyōraku and Ukitake must be about 1000 years old by the beginning of the series, if they were kids when Yama looked how he did at the Gotei’s inception.

The more I look and think about that opening scene and the episode before. I think Sasakibe is the first lieutenant EVER. Consider the conversation he had with Yamamoto. Yama agreed to take him as basically a student to train. Not an assistant. It was Sasakibe who stated his wish to become a right hand whose abilities allowed him to aid the person he respected most. I feel like he was the one who that position was created because of.
I wonder what he “respected” or why he was so fond of dedicating his life to Yamamoto as he was a serial killer and a ruthless ones at best 😂
@@cution97 Respect how he single handedly keep the most ruthless captains in line, and able to whip them to shape to open and run an elite organization.
When I first saw Yachiru Unohana many years ago, my immediate thought was that she looks like a yurei - a vengeful spirit youkai. I still think that she looks like one and my assumption back then as well was that the other original gotei would also be inspired by killer youkai. Now seeing the original gotei 13, I do think some of them might be based on youkai. Yamamoto's bankai turning himself on fire and raising the dead isn't out of that realm of possibility either, his younger appearance actually resembles some art of the sogenbi - fireball monsters. Saizo being so skeletal and creepy, and when little old men wear oversized clothes in anime they typically can regress to a state when they were massive, so he may be based on an onyudo - giant monk. Uhin being large and interestingly designed, he could be a nurikabe - impassible wall monsters that block your path. The Shihoin having connections to cats means Chika could be inspired by nekomata - death cat.
I'd be willing to bet that Sakahone has some form of powerup, whether it be in the form of a shikai, bankai, or otherwise, that gives him a more youthful appearance which makes better use of the extra space in his clothing.
Like the opposite of Toshiro's completed Bankai which makes him older, Saizo gets younger. That'd be kinda cool. Could setup a fight between them.
Chika is my fav so far from the design and the smug nobke look lol

It may be that Danjiro was in a similar situation at some point as Isshin, where he married someone and her surname passed to their children. Maybe he married a Shiba and that name passed onto his descendants in the same way that Isshin married Masaki but they passed on her Kurosaki surname.
If this big Hell arc is going to happen, I wouldn't be surprised if these characters were all introduced as a way of sort hinting at things to come.

i was thinking saito resembles Hiyori, also Kisuke created the research development centre. But i still think squad 12 was a scientific squad since Hikifune before him invented the Artificial Souls.
What's very interesting is that Entetsu's weapon greatly resembles a Chinese swordbreaker, with its sectioned blunt body and a sword-like handle and guard. That particular weapon often symbolizes law and order, and the 9th division is the law enforcement squad.
Katori has to be my favorite. She just reminds me of Nanao collapsing due to Old Yama spiritual pressure in the Soul Society arc. She gives off the responsible type who stops others from drinking too much.
A lot of the characters who look like they could be related to known clans or characters, they could still be related. For instance, Ichigo looks nearly identical to his cousin Kaien Shiba, but he's a kurosaki, so some of these characters could be uncles, cousins, and other relations to known clans and characters, but they are descended from female branches or marriages where the mother's name was taken like with Ichigo.
Also, since they made it clear no captain before Kenpachi was able to become a captain without Bankai, it's kinda scary that apparently all the most violent and bloodthirsty criminals of soul society apparently achieved Bankai 😂
I'm curious if the relative of yorouichi somehow forms the omnitskido after the original Quincy war because of his skill in assassination, which breaks the clan away from the Gotei 13 until centuries later when princess yorouichi is able to regain the clans previous division and combine it with their assassin force

@@stonalisa3729 That's true, but because he and his descendants don't carry the Shiba name, it stands to reason that any of the known existing characters could be descendants of the original captains even if the family names are different, as they could be descended from female lines or marriages where the mother's name was given to the children

Shugyo No Butsuna has one of my favourite designs of the lot as well. He kind of looks like an older, far more demented version of Zaraki Kenpachi.

I wouldn't be surprised if many of these captains changed their names like Unohana did. Maybe as symbolism to leave that version of themselves in the past. So there is still a chance that there is some kind of familial connection to the current characters.
Weirdly enough, the one that gets me the most curious is Sakahone.

Also you can't tell me a creep like that wouldn't have a survival horror like zanpakuto.

I like bleach, it’s probably my 3-4th favorite series, but I swear I’m addicted to your bleach content even more. It’s so well done and I really enjoy it; more than the content on series I like more than bleach.

i think one theory about danjiro i fell makes a lot of sense is that he married into the shiba family later in his life and kept his wifes name because she would have been off the more noble house, which would explain why many of the shiba clan members share that resemblance to him.

I never expected that I would have to broaden my knowledge of the Bleach universe, especially when it comes to captain names and what squads they're from but here we are 😂
I do like that we've been given just enough to speculate on - although I would obviously like a bit more, at least we can guess what sort of people these were from their designs and context. If I had to pick one character to learn more about, it would definitely be Chigiri. Like you said, he gives off the impression of being one of the more dangerous captains just from how unassuming he is.
Another thought, the captian of squad 13 reminds me of the old man sith from the star wars shorts. A seemingly defenseless old man who is immensely powerful and uses his age and apparent weakness to take his enemies off guard. Definitely would be the way of an older man who's part of the original group of criminals the gotei 13 are made out to be
18:56 the clothes underneath uhin's captain clothing reminds me of Ryusei Kenzaki and his fellow bodyguard, seems to be a uniform they wear when conducting business around Rurichiyo Kasumioji. Just some spit balling here but perhaps he has a background of being a bodyguard/servant to a noble family?
I have a small theory which may explain why Katori looks so similar to the modern vice captains of division 8 (or Kubo just likes putting black hair girls with glasses into that division)
Ever since we got shown that she was in fact the captain of division 8 we assumed, or atleast thought of an option, of her being somewhat related to either Nanao or Lisa. But there is also another way of looking at it. From what I understand, the position of vice captain doesn't necessarily mean that they are the second strongest in the division (altough that still seems to be the case 99% of the time) but the captain of the division choses their vice captain. So in that case there may arise a question of "why is a vice captain of the division, the vice captain, other than strenght". While yes, I'd say that both Lisa and Nanao are the second strongest in Kyoraku's division, there may also be another reason of why he picked them. Maybe he had some sort of relation with Katori, and since they both reminded him of her, he picked them (let's be honest, Kyoraku would be able to do that. Even if they weren't strong he would do it for fun)
What do I base this theory on? Absolutely nothing since we know close to nothing about Katori, but this came through my mind for a second and I thought that it was interesting.
Edit: Also I just remembered that Lisa's zanpakuto also ressembles a spear, just like Katori's

I think Urahara would have been promoted to join squad Zero had he never been exiled for the vaizard issue. What he did for squad 12 quite literally laid the ground work for what would be the soul societies saving grace in the TYBW. Squad 12 saved the day on so many occasions during the biggest crisis in bleach.
On that note, I'm surprised Yamamoto never got an invitation to the Zero Squad.
Founding both the Academy and the Gotei basically revolutionized the way Soul Society is run.

I assumed Furuoki was a member of the Ukitake Clan. They have a a very similar face and they both share long straight hair. And I imagined Ukitake had Dark Hair like Furuoki before his sickness bleached his hair white
Judging by his eyebrows, Ukitake's hair likely was dark to begin with, yes.

I'm thinking maybe 12th division was the culinary division before it became the science division, Uhin with his apron-looking garment and being the division Hikifune used to serve captaincy in prior to her time in Zero Squad? Uhin's garment under his shihakusho sorta resembles that of a sterotypical Chinese cook, too.
Would also make sense that the big guy is in charge of meals.

I love all of their designs but my favorite has to be Saizo, to be in a group like the og gotei 13 and still pull of to be the creepy old guy among them you have to be one badass master. Among all of them he seems the most off and defensless even his haori is way to big, gotta love Kubos designs and ideas, just imagine their shikai and bankai😵

The river you will cross in after life is 三途川,his name is literally a line across the river between world of living and death. Like he’s a BRIDGE .
There IS a bridge across 三途川(the river of three path) ,the bridge of Narakade .
It’s the first judgement you came across in hell,if you are a sinful person,you won’t be able to cross the bridge ,the guards of hell will push you off (in some version you simply fall off) into river of blood pool and got tortured by snake bugs.
So either it’s referring to the bridge (the entrance and exit of hell) or the first judgement of hell.
Chika’s design was beautiful.. The white and orange color just compliments his smugness.. 8th and 4th division was my favorite…

I didn't expect to get their names just one week after we got their FACES!!!!! I'm not complaining though, this last week has felt like their setting HYPE for the JAWS OF HELL ARC.
And 4 of my guesses were right on who was captain of which division (2, 7, 8 & 12) I know 2 & 8 were very likely, but 7 & 12 were wild guesses. But I would have thought the eye patch would be the captain of squad 13, I could see her and Rukia fight each other.
If the Hell arc is set up the way I think were they current captains will face the first and strongest generation. Although, if that does goes that way, I hope they will mix up a few fights, like not have it obvious that they match up EVERY former division captain with the current. Some I can imagine working, some I can't.
For example. Yoruichi & Soifon vs Chika...YES But Kenpachi vs Unohana again, I feel like we don't a second match with those 2. (I like to see Isane vs Unohana instead) Speaking of which I like to see Chikiri vs Ichigo, I feel like should have another rival among the first generation.
All and all I AM HAPPY WITH BLEACH AS IT IS NOW!!!!!

Could the "U" markings on the giant guy be perhaps really an Omega character? (It had symbolised the end of life for the better part of two thousand years before the Letter "U" was ever a thing.)
Interesting stuff. I do notice a similarity of all 12th Division captains to have this eccentric anonymity and hiding things, between the original, Hikifune, Urahara and ultimately Mayuri; could be interesting to point out with the next upcoming video on them.
it also goes to show just how physically strong these guys are/were, most of them i dont even think used Shikai during the flashback and they were just curbstomping the Quincy like they were nothing, one has to wonder how powerful their Shikais or Bankais would make them

Furofushi Saito has to be connected to Shunsui in some way. Kyokatsu looks so damn similar to her. From the purple hair to both of them having an eyepatch.
I have a fan theory that Shunsui was originally in her division way back when and was in love with her and this later manifested itself into his zanpakutou spirit having Saito’s appearance.
When these guys were causing, Shunsui was still a child and studying under Yamamoto.
But if Saitou was still a captain once he joined a division fully, then maybe that could be a good theory
@@Raion9813 yep that’s my theory. I’m guessing Shunsui is roughly 800ish years old (assuming Yama is roughly 1500, 2000 years old). And Saito was a captain up until maybe 400-500 years before the major story line. Captains live a long time and so it’s not crazy to assume some of these original Gotei stayed captains for 100’s of years after the extermination of the Quincy which means older captains of the main storyline like Ukitake and Shunsui were in contact with these people.
It’s also worth noting that Kenpachi is at least a 1000 years old as Unohana has her scar he gave her in the OG Gotei Flashback. Which means he was a child 1000 years ago and so the same “aging logic” can be given to Shunsui as well.

Ukitake and Kyōraku are both around 1000 years old since we see the younger Shunsui some time after the first Quincy war
@@shido_rimru_ it’s all just speculation. But kenpachi has an eyepatch due to his spiritual pressure with the RD department creating it special for him to keep it concealed. So there wouldn’t be connection between Saito’s eyepatch and Kenpachi’s. But Saito looks a whole lot like the Katen Kyokotsu spirit hence my fan theory.

Aside from yachiru, I also love the Simple yet Sophisticated-looking design of div 3, Div 6 which I sense Midari vibes of Kakegurui, Innocent looking div 8 and Idk something Odd and eerie vibes of div 13.

The thing that Izuhara, Tenjiro and Iba are wearing on their waists is called a haramaki. I don’t think those characters are related at all. Haramaki is a pretty common piece of clothing for samurai-like characters, such as Zoro, from One Piece.
If Tite Kubo was smart; he’d release an OVA series/movie about the OG Gotei 13 and the war with Ywach 1000 years ago after the TYBW wraps up.

With a few searches on the internet, it appears that Katori may be holding a naginata, which is historically wielded by the samurai class of Feudal Japan, but is also iconically known to have been used by the onna-musha, a class of female warriors tasked to guard nobility.

Anyone else notice and wonder, how old man Yama aged and got old, yet unohana who started it with him hasn't aged a day? Just wondering if anyone else caught that.
She's a couple of thousands of years younger than Yamamoto. And asian women generally don't seem to change significantly until they're about 50.
On the art she looks noticeably younger like she's in her 20s, and by the events of TYBW she looks about 40 years old.
Kuchiki uses the kanji for rotting tree, and Furuoki can be a homonym for Old tree. So maybe the tree just got worse as the centuries wore on, lmao.
