What brand of hard pastels did you use/reccomend? I’ve been using Holbein but it says they need to be used with fixative to prevent fading
I use NuArt Pastels by Prismacolor primarily. There may be some light fastness issues with some colors but I haven't noticed any. Also, while I use the hard pastels for much of the painting esp. laying in the big shapes and establishing basic values/hues, most of it is covered with soft pastels by the end of the painting.
great video! why do you use the sharpie marker at the begging is it just to reinforce your drawing?
Sorry for the slow response. I use the sharpie so that when I apply the odorless turp wash, my drawing isn't lost. The opaque pastel covers the sharpie drawing just fine.
ohhh that makes since. good tip!
