    FYI, Setar originally had 3 strings in old days but many years ago they added another string and has 4 strings, the 3rd and 4th strings are close to each other and they play together to make a different sound

    Also Guitar is derived from Persian origin meaning multiple strings.

    • @camsaffari
      @camsaffari Před 3 lety +1

      It doesn’t mean multiple strings . The word chartar went to both Greek and Spanish maybe in separate occasions and became chitara and kithara, which in turn became guitara and then guitar. There’s debate that perhaps the most immediate ancestor of guitar was chartar specially because guitar originally had 4 strings just like chartar (tar). But of course both Arabs and Greeks want to take credit for guitar, so most sources don’t even open this up.

    • @fanzy1338
      @fanzy1338 Před 3 lety +2

      @@camsaffari There are many theories surrounding the origin of the name Guitar. Your version is widely accepted as it has been falsely documented by history thieves such as Greeks and Arabs. That’s why they burned down all the libraries in Iran.
      From Persian etymology Tar (string), Dotar (two string), Setar (three string), Chartar (four string), Guitar (many strings). The word Guitar cognates as “Gui, Gee, Gi,..” meaning many, abundant, plenty, numerous, etc. and “taar, tar,..” meaning string. Its compound paronym such as “Guiti, Guitee, Giti,..” meaning many planets (Universe) or “Guisu, Guisoo, Gisu,..” meaning many strands (head-hair), etc. etc.

  • @ariyomahboub1517
    @ariyomahboub1517 Před 3 lety +4

    The setar is "seˈt̪ʰɒːɾ" SE will be pronounced as same as for PE in word pen. The way you pronounce it is Sitar which is a different instrument also. Setar means 3 strings, and SItar means 30 Strings

    About the pronunciation of Tonbak, there is a term in Farsi which called transforming to "M". it happens when letter "N" followed by a letter that make it difficult to be pronounced correctly. So the Letter "N" became "M". In conclusion, we write it Tonbak, but we pronounce it Tombak.

    A little explanation about "ney":
    It looks likr folut, but the way making it sounds is very different and really hard. Need to be placed between teeth with special method (dont work just by blowing on his head or a hole). I have never could make it 😂😂. Needs lots of training

    • @TimVenaVlog

      playing NEY is too hard,when You produce one of its voice. The callenge will begin 😂 Then 😮you most produce another voice type . and you can not at all, because your blowing make first voice and not other voice, and when you become specialist what you can do for make high notes 😂beacause you have not enogh holes on instrument but you most change the angle of ney between your front teeth a bit (one milimeter😅) then you can play high notes.verrrrry haaaaard😢

    Thank you for your interest in Persian instruments. But I am afraid the video just scratched the surface of the matter. It didn't show many other instruments like Qanoun (Ghanoon), Gheychack, Robaab, Chang, Dayereh, Dohol, Damaam, Sheypor, Sorna, Ney Anbaan, Ghareh Ney, ....
    Also, note that "seetaar" means thirty-stringer and it is not a Persian instrument. Rather it is an Indian derivative of Persian "sehtaar" that means three-stringer, as you know.
