As a regular ass guy, I’d never tell anyone this but the popularity of KPOP _genuinely_ helped me improve my looks by tenfold. For example, I’ve always had an extremely neotenous face. I’m 22 and still get mistaken for a teen. I just don’t look good if I try to look handsome in a “manly” way. It’s awful and I don’t get taken seriously. In fact, you just notice how silly and small I look. But when I first learned about Asian male beauty standards, and that you can be attractive in a more “baby-faced” way, I started changing my hair and even adjusting my clothing to be more similar to that type of eastern style. And boy believe me when I say it WORKED. I got compliments from my family, even my sister who always used to tease me. I got a girlfriend who talked to ME first. Unheard of. I’m not saying it’s all due to changing things up….but man I feel like I finally unlocked some attraction method in which is natural for me and I’m not trying to be something I never will.

Also, as much as I HATE the demographic (mostly stuck up trustfund white American boys) try and pair the “old money” aesthetic with how you look now. E.g. white buttoned linen shirts, polo shirts etc.
I’ve had a go at it myself and I’ve had people tell me straight to my face that the kpop and pretty asian boy ( “neotenuous” as you put it) actually helps dilute the “country club asshole” vibe that would be conveyed if some white boys tried the same style.

The difference in beauty standard between China, Japan, and Korea is itself as big as that between America, Italy, and Russia. The cute-kawaii trend exists mostly in Japan, and to a lesser extent Korea and China. Most Korean and Chinese actresses and models actually have a more mature look with sharper features. Compare Liu Wen, Yang Mi, Dilraba, and Fan Bingbing with Yui Aragaki, Kana Hashimoto, and Suzu Hirose, you'll see the huge difference in aesthetics.
Yang Mi and Diliraba are still considered cute because they have doll-like features. One can argue that the names that you listed all have big eyes, slender faces, and fair skin. I love all those ladies ❤
Dilraba being Uyghur (Turkic) contributes to her different appearance in comparison to Han Chinese. Turkic people are mixed people of Central Asia, their ancestors are Siberian, Persian, and native Central Asians. Which is why they tend to have wasian features ( East Asian x White )

as a very pale white woman with neotenous features, studying eastern beauty techniques helped me WAY more than following western trends.
As I guy in the west i don't find the western idea of "beauty" on women that pretty, it's like media promotes masculine jawline on women to look beautiful and I find it quite the opposite

But when everyone started to follow the Western beauty standards, it was kind of odd to me. Cause I wanted to fit in as well but I didn't have those features. Later on, I decided to just embrace my culture even more and stick with the beauty standards of East instead which was quite easy for me to improve myself further.
Asian ( specifically south korea/japan) standards are very specific and cookie cutter.
1. Pale/ivory skin
2. Very thin
3. Big eyes. Most stars get eyelid surgery.
4. High bridge nose.
5. Perfect /glass skin. Skin care is HUGE over there.
6. Long healthy hair.
7. Pointy chin upside down triangle face. People have had surgeries to their jaw and chin implants.
Guys have nice skin, great hair, nice voice, height , full lips, great abs. Being slim was considered attractive but its changing to muscular. Its also a HUGE DIET CULTURE. Most are obsessed with their weight and see americans as obese. They wont say it to your face . They also dont date outside their culture that much its a very conservative society. With honorifics. Very polite and reserved.

As an Asian myself, I agree with most of your points. I’d like to emphasize that perfect glass skin is more popular with Korean females. Japanese women tend to have a very matte skin finish like mochi. Korean hair varies in length, but Japanese women keep their hair short-medium length with bangs usually. Triangle shape is definitely the result of someone who originally had a very square shaped face who tried to surgically alter their face to achieve more of the v line. Triangle faces are not the standard, it’s oval (egg shaped)

I find it interesting that even with so many ethnicities , cultures and vast population , in Asia people see beauty from a very objective way..like it is so rigid that most good looking celebrities are like unicorns considering the common population..
That’s because if you look at those “features” of those celebrities you’ll find it is “Asianised” European version. They try to have that very sharp Western look. So when every East Asian celebs go for that look of course you’re gonna have a monotone appearance among the east asian celebs.
Jenny became popular in Korea because her looks are a bit different from the normal beauty standards. That is why she became so iconic. Jisoo on the other hand is more conforming to the conventional beauty standards. And most members of Twice are more conforming to the conventional Korean beauty standards than Jenny, so the photo used to refer the "Kawaii" look is a bit off here. Gakki is the more stereotypical Kawaii, or Sakura from Le Sserafim, in my opinion.

Well, I asked my Korean surgeon friend about the matter, and he told me that many foreigners come to Korea to get their faces done. Koreans are undergoing less surgeries than 10 years ago, it seems. And he said working as a translator for foreigners specifically for those who want to get PS in Korea pays better than I imagined. 😂

Well the way we view beauty is often shaped by cultural standards. All or at least many of the celebs you mentioned are Asian American, so I’m gonna assume you’re from a western country.

There's this meme about Asian women shaving their jaws, but if you pay attention to what most Korean idols look like, you'll notice they have very strong jaws. They have wider jaws than most Caucasian men and women. I've seen celebraties from both sides stand side by side and the Asian women almost always had the larger lower thirds. Bigger skulls too

I think that’s because in the West faces are overly contoured to accentuate the chiseled appearance. Additionally, it is common in the US and some parts of Europe to have buccal fat removal. In East Asia having gaunt features isn’t attractive. Women tend to prioritize skincare and diet to achieve moist plump skin. And in general, having less facial fat is usually a sign of either low body fat or aging.

I like this channel’s videos quite a bit usually but whenever it comes to Asian beauty, it kinda seems like he’s painting broader strokes than he actually knows the nuances of(??) Like he’s latching onto a gist rather than actually able to differentiate the exact features we’re into, especially when it comes to the differences between China, Japan and Korea.
So many things in this video are wrong that I don’t even have the energy to point them out.
We are mainly talking from country to country. And why is that? Because the people themselves look different. The advertisements look different. What is beautiful to you can be seen as a demon to the random African tribe that has never been exposed to such features or advertisements.
Not to mention the video you have of Korean vs. American beauty standards. It is subjective in the way of how it differs culturally vs. personal preference. It is objective in how *most* of it is TAUGHT. And when something is taught, there is a right answer and there is a wrong answer. And we can acknowledge how something is objectively beautiful from another culture, ie K-pop stars, but depending on what American you ask, it would not be our *personal* preference. I do think humans have an innate ability to tell what is truly ugly. I’m talking about deformities. I just feel like, without society guiding it and the use of internet, that bar for beauty standards would be incredibly lowered.

I'm a westerner but I prefer the eastern standards over the western standards. The western world pushes masculinity on women in both looks and personality way too much. It's not what I'm into, I prefer femininity and cuteness. It's how I style and accentuate myself too.

That's a stereotype. Monolids are only common in Northern East Asian phenotypes. You won't find many monolids in Southern Chinese, Vietnamese, and Taiwanese. For China, there was a study showing only 19% of women had true monolids, while for men that percentage is higher at 33%.
The double eyelid procedure is one of the most popular surgeries in East Asia. Lots of Korean idols & actors had monolids before they were famous.
At least half my class in grade school had double eyelids. Its more common than u think.
