This is a well made video. Very organized and straight to the point.
You should open a master class online.
In the course of a CZcams search while preparing to conduct a couple wildflower iPhone photography workshops for our local native plant society I came across this piece of Nigel Danson early history from back when you were still based in the Bay Area. Still relevant as ever. The foundations of photography are timeless. The tech keeps changing. Back when this video was posted the camera always in my shirt pocket was an iPhone 5, by year’s end it was replaced with an iPhone 8, recently replaced when it’s battery began to fail with an iPhone 13 Pro. The first photos I took with the 13 Pro were nightscapes. The camera that is always with us keeps gaining in capability and versatility. Apps too. I’m familiar with the apps you mentioned except ProCam. It is still actively maintained. Ver 13.6 (3 mos ago) enhances video support for the iPhone 13 Pro in fact. ProCam looks like it might displace Camera+ 2 as my go to alternative to the native camera app. We’ll see.
Very nice. Thanks for taking the time to explain your process
excellent Nigel - much appreciated - don't go shorter! this length is great
Thanks. Really helpful for a newbie.
Great info. Awesome presentation!
Quite an outstanding job on this video.
Excellent stuff
Excellent, informative video. This will probably anger some people, but I actually thought the iPhone photo looked slightly better. *tucks and rolls*
excellent Nigel!! thanks
💘 Thanks, can't wait to see you other videos! 😍 ✔️ 🌟
Thanks Holly! A few to watch 👍👍👍
Thank you Nigel for all the great tips that you give us. Can’t wait to see that 2019 calendar in my hands. Looking forward to it.
Thanks for ordering Ralph 👊👍
You probably dont care at all but does anyone know a trick to get back into an Instagram account..?
I somehow lost my login password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me!
Great work thank you
Superb.
Informative, knowledgeable and well paced. AND.............no annoying muzak.
Brilliant. Thanks.
+Paul Stevenson thanks Paul... warning - I do have Muzak in some (actually most) videos 😬👍
I think about it to take in my mobile phone. Thank! Nigel...., 👌
Well done! Keep up the good work! More Subscribers will come, eventually.
Just looking through some of you older videos and came across this one, I have realised recently how good the I phone 8+ actually is for photographs, however I will be trying some of the apps you suggest to get more control over the setting and noise. Great stuff, thanks Nigel.
Thanks David - iPhone is great and especially good in decent light
Many thanks, Nigel, for this excellent video. Though I own a couple very good cameras (Canon DLSR and Fuju X-T2) it took me a while to come to grips with the fact that my iPhone is also a very good camera I should be using it as one. Your video has been extremely helpful in providing good information to help me better use my iPhone as a real landscape camera. The apps you are using are excellent and I've already downloaded them. I look forward to getting a tripod mount to enable me to stabilize the phone/camera. Thanks again for all this information. Cheers!
Great information! Thanks!
Great video!
I also use my phone for landscaping ..the beauty of photos are in photographer's hand🙂😉
Great video thank you . How do you get the iPhone images into Lightroom to edit them ?
Very informative video I think we all take our mobile phones as just a little point and shoot but you've proved you can do much more with very good results .
Great vid Nigel really enjoying them.
Cheers for this, I have been researching "backyard landscape ideas photos" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Giyily Landscaping Yatty - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my mate got cool success with it.
Nigel, thanks for this interesting and informative video. It was shot a couple of years ago and I think you were using Pro Cam with an iPhone 6. With the evolution of iPhone cameras is an app like Pro Cam 7 still useful on the iPhone X or even the iPhone 11 Pro?
Thank You
Thanks Nigel, very well made and explained. - One tip I always give to others: clean your lens and if needed lick it and rub it against cotton. It gives so much better color and contrast on the picture.
Yep - great tip! And something I often forget to do as well
Martin. Yes, if you have no sandpaper on hand.
Sir, i can't find the ProCam app on google play store, is that app only for iphone app store only? Love the videos s many lesson i can learn 🙏
Thankyou
Hi, nice video, i now have the snapseed app, i also find photopills a good app but its £10
Hi Nigel. Looking at the apps you use I have just down loaded Snapseed. . I have 1 which I find useful is "whistle camera". when have down loaded what you can do with it is when you are taking "selfies" all you have to do is whistle at the camera it then counts down 3 secs and takes a picture. You can also do the same with the main camera at the rear, but you do not have a 3 sec count down, it takes the pic straight away. I have a Galaxy Note 5 android, will that quad lock fit my mobile.
Some image samples per tip?
I would love to see more detailed videos on Snapseed.
I know this is an old one but when shooting with your cellphone on a tripod use your headphone as a cable release. Cheers!
Hi Nigel. Have you ever tried Lightroom mobile using raw?
+Marpleman's Adventures yes - it is fantastic!
Hi! Nigel. 👍
Have you used the iPhone 12 Pro Max yet for landscape photography? Can you make a video and tell us what you think about it?
I wished you had talked more about prints .. clarity and stuff
Just to be clear, you're shooting landscapes with a camera at 1.8 aperture? You gonna print those?
TC 13:30 - why didn’t you take this pic in RAW in Lr in iPhone? I do it all the time and the results are simply stunning.
Yep - I do as well... in fact just taken one! Not everyone has lightroom....
You can see everything I now understand very well
1.shoot in awesome light; 2.make the most of APPs; 3.nail the composition; 4.don't always handhold; 5. care about your post processing;
Snapseed introduces lots of noise and does not have noise reduction. Can you see it on the print? I have no idea...
I'd like to know as well. Anyway to reduce noise using Snapseed?
Yes I know... at some point we will have to pay subscription to breathe... :(
How do I get iPhone photos into Lightroom on my MacBook Pro?
You can sync with your Lightroom in your iPhone, and it will automatically sync to you Lightroom in MBP
Why not edit directly in instagram where you'll use the photo?
Because IG can't do what snapseed or Lightroom can. The filters are ok - but global edits and I often do finer changes
Can iphones perform astrophotography?
No - the sensor is too small and the S/N ration is low

Informative video, however, please speak more slowly, I had to listen three times to understand 'magic seaweed'. Thanks.
british be like:
Very nice. Thanks for taking the time to explain your process
+Edward Lee no worries - bit of a long one in the end this vid. Maybe keep how to videos shorter in the future.
