Another excellent tutorial, Emil. I appreciate how you’re precise and thorough in your descriptions and directions. A couple of techniques I additionally use are:
1. Dance - when setting up the camera for composition, I physically move several steps around to find my best placement;
2. Turn Around - sometimes I find another great picture that exists behind me; and
3. View Camera - limit the number of pictures I take so that the picture I actually end up with is the absolute best.
I love how he gives you the tip and you feel like you understand it and you’re ready to become a pro. Then, right after, he’s like, but if you don’t want to suck here’s a even better tip on the same lesson.

I already had quite a bit of knowledge of iPhone camera but what I have learned from Emil’s videos have been very informative and useful. Hope this helps?

When you use the ultra wide to take the pic then you will have barrel distortion. You can see the tree tilting to the left

What tripod, head, and iPhone adapter do you use? I cannot hold my phone that still like you do in the videos. I use the phone for family photos, wildflowers, trees, mushrooms, and occasionally landscapes.

What do you edit your photos on? They are stunning.
We used Snapseed to edit the photo examples in this video. Currently, we use Lightroom Mobile :)

Another great video. One edit I'd suggest is to remove the chemtrail in the first photos of the tree. You'll see this very unnatural horizontal line in the sky to the left of the tree.

Nothing major really, just a few touches in shadows, brightness, saturation. It was all done on Snapseed.

Do you shoot in raw or JPEG?
We mostly shoot in JPEG. We reserve RAW for specific cases where heavy editing.

What does he mean by locking the exposure?
Emil refers to tapping and holding the area you want to focus on. That will adjust and lock the exposure (brightness) of your image. Composition is important as it involves making decisions about how to position and frame the subject, as well as choosing the appropriate lighting, colors, and other visual elements. A well-composed photograph can be more successful at conveying its intended message or emotion to the viewer.

Didnt understand the thing about the negative space when it says the more negative space, the more the subject will get emphasize. Why is it important the negative space? Didnt make much sense to me. Im a beginner
Negative space is important because, like you said, it helps to give the subject more definition and focus. It creates a visual separation that draws the viewers eye toward the main part of the image. Negative space can also be used to create a sense of depth and scale within an image, which can add to its overall appeal.

@@sanjumohan1981 it’s a tough choice. iPhone 13 Pro’s camera is simply amazing if you understand how it works. Often, it shoots as good or even better than DSLR. You also will need more time to practice and master DSLR. You need to understand that iPhone’s camera is point and shoot, while on professional camera you need to adjust settings before you take the best photo possible (of course if you can do it yourself, otherwise you have to learn how to work with the settings on cameras). Next, iPhone has 3 ( + macro on UW) lenses ready to shoot, when cameras have 1 lens and if you want to shoot macro, ultra wide or zoom, you need to buy additional lenses, take them with you all the time and swap them. On the other hand, it gives you more control (iPhone has it’s camera, but you can’t swap the lens that matches your composition better). Buying iPhone 13 Pro, you just not get a camera, but one of the best smartphones. However, iPhone’s camera is still mobile and if you’re okay with all of the cons above, professional camera might be a better investment (you can shoot long exposure photos on DSLR, while on iPhone you have to buy $5 app and it won’t be as good as professional camera, or you can buy great zoom lens and discover space! You can observe moon and even other planets, if it’s right time and day. This is impossible with iPhone’s camera. Astrophotography is definitely better on DSLR). But if you’re very new to the photography, imho you shouldn’t spend that much money for an iPhone 13 Pro or DSLR camera. If you have one of the newer phones or already have a camera (or maybe you can borrow it), go outside and try to make some photos. If you’re planning to spend so much money for a tool, you 100% need to be sure that you like what you’re doing. Also remember, that everything is not about the expensive tool, but about right hands, passion and skills. Good luck!
