Great video! Thanks for the shout out! Interesting that my car only does this if I press the lock button twice in quick succession, that must be different for the different years I am guessing.
Hey everyone, it's the wolverine guy.
Correct, at some point Ford changed the horn chirp protocol, so it takes two quick presses on the lock button to activate the hown chirp confirmation.
-Chuck
I didn’t know about this at all man, thanks for sharing this! 👍🏾
Right on D,
Try it out, see if you like it.
-Chuck
Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis king of the cars.❤🇺🇸
Right on Murat.
Chuck with the good info again! Excellent scenario for disabling that horn!
What up Mo' Money,
I think her ears have developed to hear the power locks now. Smh
-Chuck
Hey thanks for the help on the fob it worked thanks a million
Thanks for watching.
-Chuck
Chuck! That's a freaking cool feature! For me, I don't like the horn chirp with the lights flashing in parking lots! As for the wife at 3am... two things, sorry to say but she's almost completely Deaf... and #3 🖐 I don't drink and am a Home Body old man 🤣
Right on Daniel,
Thanks for dropping in.
-Chuck
another great video that does not apply to my junkie a$$ rides... Great info brother Chuck!
Right on BST.
I don't want you to feel left out.
How about I make a video "How to disable seat belt minder"?
(that dang bong, bong noise when your unbuckle your seat belt when the engine is running).
-Chuck
A+’video. Thank you
Thanks for watching.
-Chuck
i am actually trying to get my P7B to do the reverse, is that the same procedure?
Ho-Yo Silver,
I'm not sure, refer to to your Owner's Manual (RTFM). lol
Oh wait, If you have a police model, you may not have this feature enabled.
You may need to install Driver Door Module from a civilian model.
Check this out; czcams.com/video/8_8brpcKr0c/video.html
-
-Chuck
@@PanzerPlatform hmm, it came with a full remote including trunk release, and panic button that turns on flashers and horn, do you think if i run your procedure in reverse it may do it?.
It's so annoying for me to check the doors all the time, it's quite silent when locking, no lights or chirp, i can see why being used for police. even the headlights are off in park, and when headlight button is off all lights are off, which is quite odd, because up here all our mobile igloos have daytime running lights, as soon as you start the engine they go on.
@@SilverBullet93GT
OK, it sounds like you have the feature enabled.
To turn on the horn chirp when you lock the doors with the key fob the programming procedure is slightly different than turning it off like I show in the video.
Refer to your Owners Manual for the instructions. RTFM, c'mon man. Lol
-Chuck
@@PanzerPlatform lol, I'm off to download land
@@PanzerPlatform there is no mention in the 2011 manual about lights or horn when locking. the puzzle is real
thanks for all the videos. is there a way to make my 2004 lx sport flash lights when i lock vs chirp the horn
Hello,
I wish it had that silent option too, but unfortunately not.
-Chuck
I can't get mine to program this way. I have to use the keyless entry (door code) program method to disable the horn chirp.
Right on Josh,
Thanks for watching.
-Chuck
My 2010 P7B will only lock the doors and flash the parking lights with 1 press of the lock button. With 2 presses, it'll do all that again but chirp the horn once to confirm that all doors are closed, if a door isnt closed or the trunk is popped, it'll chirp the horn twice.
Yo Maxy,
Correct.
At some point Ford revised the horn chirp confirmation protocol.
Based on the feedback from the Wolverine Guy below, I think it changed in 2006.
-Chuck
Awesome!
Yo Rob,
Thanks for stopping in.
-Chuck
Hi Chuck one question, I have a 04 marauder when I lock it the little red led by the windshield flashes I ordered a remote for it and tried doing the steps but it wouldn't pair w the remote do you know what that could be? Or maybe I just got the wrong remote? I did a little research myself before buying it and it looks just like your remote.
Yo Wences,
On both my Panthers the red LED on the dash blinks when the PATS is armed, or disarmed, so I don't think the red LED means anything really.
As far as the Remote Key Fob.
Review page 66 of your Owner's manual again.
It looks like the programming procedure is slightly different.
When you attempted to program the Remote Key Fob did the power locks cycle?
If they did, that may mean the Key Fob is not compatible with your car.
If the power locks did not cycle, that means you did not successfully enter the programming mode.
Give it another try after reading page 66 again, and let me know.
-Chuck
When I bought my panther it already did this, but how can I get the lights and horn to turn on when I lock the car? I’ve always wondered but never knew. I own a 2005 mercury grand marquis ls. Thank you
Yo Q,
The procedure shown in the video is used deactivate / activate the horn chirp & parking lamp flash confirmation.
-Chuck
You the man
Thanks for watching.
-Chuck
Do you know how to disable the seat belt alarm?? ( on my 06 it goes off every 1 min if Im driving in the parking lot without the belt engaged) Please share if you know!
Here you go; czcams.com/video/kUlfyp45Ni4/video.html
-Chuck
I'm glad my P71 doesn't do that with just one press of the remote. It will only do this if it's pressed twice. Also, glad the P71's don't come with PATS.
Right on RZR,
Thanks for watching.
-Chuck
is it all or nothing? horn and lights or neither? I have mine (aftermarket) set up to flash the parking lamps but no horn. That's the way I prefer.
Unfortunately, it's all or nothing.
I do like seeing my LED bulbs flash for confirmation, but not as much as stealth.
-Chuck
What years does this apply too I have a 00' Cartier I would like to try this out with. Thxs
Right on Mr. Cartier,
90% my videos apply to all Panther Cars from 1992-2011.
However there are some minor differences from year to year.
The Horn Chirp Confirmation Disable / Enable procedure is listed on page 72 of your Owner's Manual.

@@PanzerPlatform thank you 😊 I will definitely try it and post it on my channel very cool feature
What key fob you using, OEM? I bought a cheap amazon fob case and the buttons are sensitive any touch and it activates the button
Yo Mafi,
I'm using both OEM Factory Fob's, and some cheap $5 jobbies from Amazon, and your correct. The Amazon ones are overly sensitive.
-Chuck
And on Alarms systems... I promised to install an Auto-start in my daughter's 2015 Fiesta... Can you recommend a good, easy to install unit??
Right on Daniel,
I looked into a remote start system for my 2010 Grand Marquis when I got it back in 2018.
After a weeks worth of research I found nothing "easy to install" about it.
Maybe things have changed since then.
For your 2015 Fiesta, what about installing the Factory OEM system.
You might be able to get the modules, and parts of a junkyard car for cheap.
-Chuck
oh wow, nice.
Yo Chris,
Thanks for stopping in.
Your video gets uploaded Sunday.
-Chuck
My merc, 09, requires pressing the lock button 2 times for it to actually honk. It’s really loud when it chirps.
Right on Eric,
Ford changed it around 2005-2006, so this applies to 2004, and older.
-Chuck
ok, it worked on my 99LX P74 like a charm, but the P7B needs some other black magic perhaps, as the manual is silent in that regard
It's on page 78.

Hey Chuck I've been trying to disable the horn chirp in my 2011 grand marquis and had no luck, maybe I'm turning the key too far for the "on" position but not sure
Right on J-Dub,
At some point Ford changed the horn chirp protocol, so it takes two quick presses of the lock button to activate the horn chirp confirmation.
You just hit the lock button on the key fob once.
-Chuck
@@PanzerPlatform thanks I'll try that
For me, horn chirp is a good thing. I can double check doors locked from a distance which is nice. Old trick to increase clicker range is to put clicker under the chin and open mouth. Try it!
Right on Encino,
Thanks for watching.
-Chuck
Hey bud im glad that your keeping those videos up its awesome!!! So i have an issue... my car flashes the lights but the horn wont go off ....the horn works and if i press the emergency red button on the remote the horn and lights flash ....when i lock it it doesnt sound ....i did the video and undo it and the horn still doesnt go off when i lock the car only the lights flash

OK, now we're getting somewhere.
When it comes to Police vehicles, all bets are off.
There's no way of knowing what the up fitter, and down fitter did preparing the vehicle for police duty, and removing it from police duty.
So you are looking at an uphill challenge.
I have only owned civilian Crown Vic's so my knowledge is limited with the police models.
Maybe head over to WJ Handy Dad's Channel. And ask that same question.
I regard him as a Police model expert.

2011 P7B - enters programming mode, but doesn't confirm after pressing the lock the last two times, any help? thanks
Around 2006 Ford changed the way the horn chirp works.
You just press the lock button on the remote key fob once if you don't want to hear the horn chirp.
-Chuck
Good afternoon sir. I recently purchased a 2000 Lincoln Town car for my wife. It's in excellent condition. I'm going to use this info you provided to re activate the chirp and light flash. But I have another question if I may. The Key Pad will not unlock the doors. I used the door code I found on the trunk hinge and also went to the Ford dealer to get a second key programmed, and they confirmed the Key Pad code. I can lock the doors by using the keypad. Do you think the Key Pad has been disabled by a previous owner? If so, is there a procedure to reactivate it? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Right on Jeffery,
Thanks for watching.
Here's a demo on how it should work; czcams.com/video/4hwKCy5QIdA/video.html

It sounds like the 1-2, 3-4, or 5-6 button has malfunctioned.
You may need to replace the keypad.
I would pull one from the junkyard.
-Chuck
@@PanzerPlatform Thank you for your speedy reply. I'll pick up another keypad sometime in the spring, and give that a try.
Hi.
My name is Dag Anders Bjorvatn.
I live in Kristiansand, Norway and i've got an 03 civilian vic with 48k miles on it.
I love the car.
My question is this, when i lock the car with the remote control , is it possible to make the turn signals blink instead of the horn chimp? I have disconnected the horn function but it would have been nice to see if the car was locking or not.
Best regards

I have a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis with the small activate deactivate button on the left side of the dash. To turn on the alarm feature or turn it off, there is a combination something like turn on car, turn off and hold down the button. I turned it off long time ago...now the horn chirp is back (when I turned off the set alarm it had stopped) and I did not turn it on....any ideas on using that button on the dash? I would like to keep the lights flash but no alarm. Thanks much.
Right on Alan,
Thanks for watching.
I'm not familiar with this button on the dash you speak of. Could you film a short video of it, and upload it to your CZcams channel?
Also I would like to have the parking lamp confirmation flash but without the horn chirp but I haven't figured out how to do that.

my 2008 crown vic doesnt have the chirp when i lock it with the remote. i still havent tried this method yet but will it turn on my horn chirp ? if i did exactly what you did in the video.
Right on Brown Bear,
Thanks for watching.
From my understanding Ford revised the Horn Chip Protocol feature starting with the 2006 Model Year.
It take two presses of the lock button to get the horn chirp.
So if you don't want to hear the horn chirp, you only need press the lock button once.
If your 2008 does not provide the horn chirp after two presses, you may have some other malfunction.
Refer to page 85 of your Owner's Manual for more info.

Does this mean my p7b has an alarm system? I know if i hit the panic button it works but if i lock it w the remote and someone opens a door will the alarm sound?
Every police model was ordered to a different trim level with different options, and equipment.
There was a website called Ford ETIS where you could enter the VIN number from any Ford Lincoln Mercury vehicle from 1994 to current.
The website would tell you how the vehicle was equipped to the smallest detail as it was built, and left the assembly plant.
This information was intended to be used by dealerships, and body shops for repairs.
Ford realized it was being used by the members of the public like me, and you.
May 2023 Ford shut down the ETIS website, and started a new website called.
FordServiceInfo . com
It has all the info from the ETIS website but now you have to pay $2,700 per year to access all the information.
If you know anyone who works at a dealership, or body shop you could ask them to print out the info for your VIN number.
-Chuck

When it comes to Police Model Vic's, all bets are off when it comes to electrical issues due to agency modifications, and the upfitting / downfitting process.
Or it could be something as simple as a missing driver door module, or enabling the feature with a $20 FORScan device.
