    Hi, can you not fix the Solarpanels on the tents roof?

    • @MyLifeinAfrica
      @MyLifeinAfrica  Před 3 lety +1

      Definitely can, the tent is basically acts as a roof rack as well, I just haven't got there yet, it really hasn't been on that long. My last solar panel is a bit big for the pitch on the tent, so I'll be changing that soon and adding it to the roof, although as I said in the video I don't really have much need to just yet...

      Hey Raymond, sorry for the late reply i was away in the kruger for a while. I have considered a roof conversion and would love to do one, just don't see it happening in the very near future! I love the Quick Pitch gear, honestly it is the best we have had on the donkey so far and are very happy with it. My wife and daughter had their first time in the new setup in the kruger and are absolutely blown away by it.

    Not everyday that you see a stainless steel snorkel on a troopy. (Let alone on any other vehicle in SA, I have only seen a few. )
    You also removed the roof rack and added a small one at the front.
    It's cool that the quick pitch tent also allows you to mount stuff to it and it can support itself with feet.
    I noticed at 17:44 you don't have full length rock sliders. Though the donkey is more of a touring rig so, you won't encounter too many place where you can damage the sills.

      @@MyLifeinAfrica It does look very cool.
      Though I feel the induction noise would be a bit too much on a NA (naturally aspirated) 1HZ.
      But yours has a turbo so it makes nice noises. 😉👍

    • @MyLifeinAfrica
      @MyLifeinAfrica  Před 3 lety +1

      The noise isn't as much as you'd expect, on the V6 and V8 you can really hear it, mine you can hear if you open the window and specifically listen to it. It's louder at lower RPM than higher for sure...

    @mud-dust Před 3 lety +1

    Hey Roland, I think this is a serious upgrade. Great video. Clamshell tents are best when it’s windy (if you park facing the wind). QuickPitch tent could be the best on the market. I have had an eye on them for a while. Definitely better than the AluCab for reasons I could explain. Anyway, hope to see you soon.

    • @MyLifeinAfrica
      @MyLifeinAfrica  Před 3 lety

      Hey Blaise, thanks man, we're very very happy with the setup now! I sadly on this specific trip parked badly for the wind, I never really gave much thought to it while filming and then ended up leaving the car as is... from the sea breeze switch to the berg wind I got belted the entire night 😂🤣
      I'm in agreement on the tent being the best in the market, plenty of things that they really thought through and put into production...

    • @MyLifeinAfrica
      @MyLifeinAfrica  Před 2 lety

      Hey hey, for me it's about setup time, nothing else, the Bundutop is amazing, I will not fault it, I'm a lazy camper, 4 clips compared to 2, and with my setup having to plug it in made it longer! The Bundu are incredible, you won't regret having one! If you have more questions my number is on insta and Facebook, WhatsApp me, happy to chat...

    • @MyLifeinAfrica
      @MyLifeinAfrica  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks Tiago, the Bundutop is a great tent, i cannot fault it at all, we loved having that tent on the car. For me personally and the way i travel i prefer a clamshell option, it is just faster for me, often taking clients on tours i do not want to have to worry about my setup (not that i worried about it with the Bundutop), but i need it to be as fast and efficient as possible. I think for this reason and this reason alone you can see why i have gone back to a clamshell. I hope that explains it?

  • @benvandyk
    @benvandyk Před 3 lety +1

    Looks great! Interested to know why you changed from the Bundutop & BunduAwn? Was the BunduTop tent not more spacious and even easier to setup? And did the BunduAwn not give a bit more shade?

    • @MyLifeinAfrica
      @MyLifeinAfrica  Před 3 lety

      Hi Ben, It was a personal choice, i prefer clamshell type tents, the Bundutop was a quick setup yes but not compared to a Quick Pitch clamshell. The tent inside had a roomy feel to it yes with 4 windows for view as well which made it great. The awning while providing sufficient shade was just too large i found for what i needed. The pack up of the awning took quite a while as a single person which for me as i said in the video always boils down to fast setup and fast pack ups.

    • @benvandyk
      @benvandyk Před 3 lety +1

      @@MyLifeinAfrica Thanks for the reply! BunduTop also qualifies as clamshell type tent.
      I recently went through a similar exercise and chose the BunduTop tent and QuickPitch awning in the end... Great combination for me.
      Would love your long term feedback on BunduTop vs QuickPitch tents specifically

    • @MyLifeinAfrica
      @MyLifeinAfrica  Před 3 lety

      Technically they do yes they do qualify as a clamshell, i just meant the 2 clips and boom it's up. The Quick Pitch awning is amazing, i am thrilled with mine, provides just what i need and the pack up and setup is super quick!

    Do you have a second ladder to enable you to get into the tent from the driver side? It presume it would be annoying if you had to close the awning everytime you wanted to enter the tent from the rear ladder? Very cool, though!

    • @MyLifeinAfrica
      @MyLifeinAfrica  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey there, yes all the Quick Pitch RTT's come with a telescopic ladder than should you need it you can attached it to the side of the tent and not have to use the rear entrance of the tent. For the display purposes of the video i did not use the ladder, i generally do not leave my awning out at night so it is not really an issue for me. The answer to your question though is a definitely yes... thanks for the comment!

  • @overlandworld2253
    @overlandworld2253 Před 2 lety +1

    Never liked the Bundatec tent. Too much to go wrong with pulleys and a motor. We were in SA quite a few years ago and went to Custom Leisure Tech in Jo'berg and swapped our fold out tent for one the same as shown in the video. It was obviously ahead of It's time as we have noticed companies such as Alu cab, Quick pitch etc have made their own version. Personally we have solar on top of the tent which helps with changing while we are parked up shopping, camping, driving etc.
    Having a solar blanket encourage theft, packing away at night and missing the morning sun.
    We all travel differently and after 7 years on the road we know what suits us.
    As an example, we sold our wrap around awning as we simply wasn't using it. We went back to one normal awning on the back and one on the side. As part of our travels through various continents we missed out on East Africa, we shipped to India instead. We plan to put this mistake right next year!
    If you see a orange Troopy coming towards you, give us a wave 👋
    Great videos done by you, so keep up the good work.

    • @MyLifeinAfrica
      @MyLifeinAfrica  Před rokem

      I loved the Bundutop tent but prefer the QuickPitch clamshells for our purposes it's just more practical. The awning is hands down the thing I probably use the most, easy 1 person setup and pack up, will never go back from a 270° that's for sure.
      Thanks for the great comment 🤟🏻

  • @rhino8318

    This kinda feels like you have changed your equipment because of sponsorships. The Bundutop tent is electric and takes no time to setup.. In the first video you state you disliked clamshell tents... Now you have one. The change in snorkel gives you no advantage at all. Are you endorsed by these brands now ?

    • @MyLifeinAfrica
      @MyLifeinAfrica  Před 2 lety +1

      I changed my equipment by choice, yes there is no significant advantage to the snorkel but it just looks so good don't you think? I never once said I disliked clamshell tents, I've owned 2, I never once said I didn't like the Bundutop tent either, the tent was great and we enjoyed our time with it, I prefer a clamshell for my purpose though.
      If you you must know I was and am endorsed by both brands, we're in the market of product testing and that's what we do, test products and provide feedback on improvements and changes to the various brands.
