4:27 - And there it is! So cool seeing how he made this track. Thanks for posting.
this is the coolest part
Well, music is mostly comprised of sound experimentation, and whether or not you actually experiment with your studio (like deadmau5 and C418 does) depends on how excuberant watching the production of it is.
he looks very happy
this guy is a genius!!! so heavy goosebumps on this ARP!
omggg this was the exact moment i wanted to see!! that melody is perfecttt
There's sooo much magic happening in this video.
even for veterans this is nice to watch, seeing how someone else produces can give some insight in how to get that type of sound or things you hadn't thought of before
so thanx for posting this as i have no clue when he streams and dont have the hours he has to shape his music
thanks bro....yea i just look for the streams where he makes music and essentially break them down for you all...keeps me tuned into music and gives me a break from the daily grind.
its so fun and satisfying watching this after having heard the song. when he comes closer and closer to how i remember it :) such a good arp :)
That drop right after the arp was probably most annoying transition to make in this track and i think he was like, "uhh fuck it, I'll just cut it at the end of a bar".. and so in the final version it came out so unexpected (rhythmically wise) and so freaking perfect!
This is what I love the most about Joel - He took that buildup in a whole other direction than what I would've ever done. And made it sound amazing.
I love how happy he gets once he finishes the notes. That's what music does to you.
Thanks for these videos Oskillator. Although I don't learn anything from them, they are great for those just starting out and interested in production techniques.
+Serious Gaming omg there's so much to learn!
....and thanks for geeking out with me.!!!!
after producing for 6+ years i still like to watch his streams. take notes on not only the technical stufff. the way he treats notes, melodys, chords is just so fun to watch. also the way he treats sounddesign and workflow.
1:05 loving that sidechain
It's f***ing awesome! Every time when i listen this i have a goose bumps on my skin. You are one of arp gods )). Thanks for this video and thanks for all.
this arp is ur best piece!!!
Thanks for the quality videos bro!
Thanks you....I have someone else to geek out with about production!
:D still learnin'
uhhhhhh what about me oskillator don't forget me!
lol
+Oskillator you can do so with me :P
here after Durant Miller :(
SO FUCKING SICK at the end ...
master classssss video! thank you! bro. = )
I've been wondering what the hell he could add to make it any better since part 4... I've just seen in the suggestions there's at least 11 parts. Wtf Joel
Can't wait to get my pc so I can make the edm'z
Look at his clock, 6am... Peak creativity after sleep deprivation...
Something about putting your body and mind at an extreme brings out the true creative juices.
Look at the guitar virtuosos, like Vai.
Can you please upload him making Avaritia? That would be amazing
4:06 poggers moment
When I was first making melodies in FL studio I made these arp style midi sequences, writing the midi manually. I didn't know you can transform the arp into midi notes. Do you think it's a good way to make unique arps just by writing it manually in midi? Or is it just inefficient?
Yeah, but in the video he has the note data of the arp layed out in the piano roll right? My question was if there's any reason in making basically your own arp from scratch in the piano roll if you want to add a lot of variation to it or something.
Thanks for the answers
I'm not sure about FL studio but in abelton I'm pretty sure can press the records button and it will record the arp and put it in Midi format, or at least I think that is how it works, I might be wrong
Can someone recommend me more deadmau5 tracks which has arps like these? I like them so much expecially when deadmau5 does it. He is legendary mixer and mastering engineer.
saved, pets 2
also polaris and 4ware are in a bit more laid back style
Can someone explain me why isn't he using Cthulhu (or other arp sequencer) and instead opted for single notes? What are the advantages?
I thought that was only more work but it must have a reason
Diogo Raimundo most likely he did record those notes with chtulhu, however he edit little parts here and there to make shit unique like he always does :)
First you use chtulu then you export the midi arpeggio
Is that one automation clip controlling more than one parameter? If it isn't then just how the hell does he make the sound detune at the end when the value is at its highest?
it is possible that he just does all the automation on one track, there's no reason why you wouldnt do this in ableton, select a parameter that you want to write automation for and draw the lines
Yeah, I was just thinking if there's a way that only one knob could cause all those effects :D
That's actually also possible, i know there are a few tutorials on youtube explaining how to set this up but i cant remember what it's called
+Statik Sky there's a max for live device for that. And the detune knob when it is cranked to max is fully detuned
Aaron Archuleta Thanks! So far I've just been doing separate automation clips which is not very efficient.
Damn your playlist got wrecked , fucking youtube
Oskillator...will you marry me?
sorry bro....taken
lol ok I guess thats a good reason to say no :P
How long you've been married/dating that person?
+Durrant Miller 10 years m8 and 2 little kids
Nice :D
how does he play from the section he wants in the piano roll
Shift + Space Bar. On Windows anyway.
+Rolanoid option+space on mac.. see here czcams.com/video/Wxi-uR4PFe4/video.html
only works in arrange view though....not session view.
Wouldn't Joel sue u after watching this??.. He is straight forward u know
