      Well, music is mostly comprised of sound experimentation, and whether or not you actually experiment with your studio (like deadmau5 and C418 does) depends on how excuberant watching the production of it is.

    even for veterans this is nice to watch, seeing how someone else produces can give some insight in how to get that type of sound or things you hadn't thought of before
    so thanx for posting this as i have no clue when he streams and dont have the hours he has to shape his music

    its so fun and satisfying watching this after having heard the song. when he comes closer and closer to how i remember it :) such a good arp :)

  • @bullet_tooth_tony
    @bullet_tooth_tony Před 7 lety +8

    That drop right after the arp was probably most annoying transition to make in this track and i think he was like, "uhh fuck it, I'll just cut it at the end of a bar".. and so in the final version it came out so unexpected (rhythmically wise) and so freaking perfect!

    This is what I love the most about Joel - He took that buildup in a whole other direction than what I would've ever done. And made it sound amazing.

      after producing for 6+ years i still like to watch his streams. take notes on not only the technical stufff. the way he treats notes, melodys, chords is just so fun to watch. also the way he treats sounddesign and workflow.

    When I was first making melodies in FL studio I made these arp style midi sequences, writing the midi manually. I didn't know you can transform the arp into midi notes. Do you think it's a good way to make unique arps just by writing it manually in midi? Or is it just inefficient?

    • @RCmies
      @RCmies Před 7 lety

      Yeah, but in the video he has the note data of the arp layed out in the piano roll right? My question was if there's any reason in making basically your own arp from scratch in the piano roll if you want to add a lot of variation to it or something.

    • @RCmies
      @RCmies Před 7 lety

      Thanks for the answers

    • @durrantmiller8810
      @durrantmiller8810 Před 7 lety

      I'm not sure about FL studio but in abelton I'm pretty sure can press the records button and it will record the arp and put it in Midi format, or at least I think that is how it works, I might be wrong

    Can someone recommend me more deadmau5 tracks which has arps like these? I like them so much expecially when deadmau5 does it. He is legendary mixer and mastering engineer.

    Can someone explain me why isn't he using Cthulhu (or other arp sequencer) and instead opted for single notes? What are the advantages?
    I thought that was only more work but it must have a reason

    • @bullet_tooth_tony
      @bullet_tooth_tony Před 7 lety

      Diogo Raimundo most likely he did record those notes with chtulhu, however he edit little parts here and there to make shit unique like he always does :)

    • @renzoalvau
      @renzoalvau Před 4 lety

      First you use chtulu then you export the midi arpeggio

    Is that one automation clip controlling more than one parameter? If it isn't then just how the hell does he make the sound detune at the end when the value is at its highest?

    • @statikskynl
      @statikskynl Před 7 lety

      it is possible that he just does all the automation on one track, there's no reason why you wouldnt do this in ableton, select a parameter that you want to write automation for and draw the lines

    • @RCmies
      @RCmies Před 7 lety

      Yeah, I was just thinking if there's a way that only one knob could cause all those effects :D

    • @statikskynl
      @statikskynl Před 7 lety

      That's actually also possible, i know there are a few tutorials on youtube explaining how to set this up but i cant remember what it's called

    • @Oskillator
      @Oskillator  Před 7 lety

      +Statik Sky there's a max for live device for that. And the detune knob when it is cranked to max is fully detuned

    • @RCmies
      @RCmies Před 7 lety

      Aaron Archuleta Thanks! So far I've just been doing separate automation clips which is not very efficient.
