Paint It Black is one of my favorites too
I would be interested in how he announced INXS - New Sensation.
His words about Michael Hutchence are legendary
Can anyone make a CZcams playlist? 🙏
Doesn't pick a Beatles song because he ripped most of them off.... Still a fucking Legend tho!
That “Bass player from Coldplay” joke will be on Noels gravestone. When he haunts us from beyond the grave, he will introduce himself as that. Despite the terror, we will still smile.
1:06 “two brothers in a band that I can relate to, I feel their pain”
Classic Noel
It’s a satisfying feeling watching this video and guessing the songs from the description before he announces them. It’s even more satisfying knowing they mean as much to Noelly G as they do to you. Hope this music lives on for years to come.
I remember getting Achtung Baby on vinyl in late 1991. They had put the main colour label on the B side, so I assumed that was the A-side start of album. I listened to it, thought it was great, then just imagine my reaction when I listened to the actual A-side. I remember being blown away by it.
My playlist for this week, thanks NG
I’m glad Noel is a fan of Tears For Fears. “The Beatles of the 80’s”. I wasn’t aware he was that much of a fan.
Fuck the Beatles. They’re the tears for fears of the 80s.
Head over heels is a serious tune
He probably isn’t, he pretends to like loads of bands he’s had minor run-ins with over the years who he’s never mentioned before- his latest one is The Coral
@@odw_99 he's always been a fan of the Coral. Here he is performing with them ten years ago czcams.com/video/08fCUdu1FBs/video.html
@@shredder9536 I never said he hadn’t performed with them, I’m sure I read they supported Oasis on tour about 20 years ago when they first started releasing albums- what I meant was he all of a sudden starts raving about bands as though he has loved them forever (Prince is a prime example)- the only ones he has been consistent with throughout his career are The Beatles, The Smiths and The Jam, he’s just so inconsistent…but an amazing songwriter, obviously
Glad to see some Echo appreciation
Echo brilliance
I did not know he liked Tears for Fears. I listen to some of their songs often. I guess I like them more now.
First song - ABBA
Didn't see that coming
Gotta hand it to Noel, superb taste in music.
But he rips them off
Disagree there mate
best succinct description of Abba.. 'the two birds in it, proper fit.. the two lads in it, pretty cool as well'
Tears for fears were/are just so underrated.
'Suffer The Children' was a great record but wasn't a big hit.
Songs from the big chair
On what planet are TFF "so underrated"? They sold 40 million and get tons of doting press coverage. Bands like Talk Talk and Japan are *actually* underrated.
Two birds in it - proper fit!
the man is simply fried and making it up as he goes along.... fair play likesay
Yes, jumpin jack flash, my favourite song
Absolute fucking banger
Can’t believe there was no Beatles or stone roses tune
i love this man so much!
Ok
Yep, ABBA were huge in Oz and the chicks were proper fit.
Great taste , our Noel ... love 💕
9:09...Noel still adorable! 💖
Yah Noel, 🤙🏽. The La’s !! I Knew you’d go to Weller and Marr , Didn’t expect “Tears for fear’s”. Noel you turned me on to playing “ let’s Dance” by Bowie🙏🏽
The Chills - Wasn't expecting that.
Ditto
wish he'd done a Nirvana one I love hearing him talk abt them
Is it just the lighting...or has Noel got really deep lines either side of his mouth?
@@fifthof1795 he has lines yeah
I love the video he made for "The Ballad of the Mighty I".
Ain't nobody make me laugh like Noely G. Best bass player Coldplay ever had.
Noel could have his tv program where he speaks about music I would watch it non stop
A couple of interesting little nuggets about Noel's taste in this vid. Firstly I was little surprised how much he likes TFF, but they did write great 80's pop songs, Everybody Wants To Rule... is amazing. It's still surprising how he chose them over anything by say The Stone Roses for example.
Also when he says U2 had a musical revamp after Joshua Tree, it was actually after the album Rattle and Hum, which got a lot of negative reviews at the time. There was an interesting BBC doc on Achtung Baby in 2011, Bono said it was the Madchester dance rock bands The Happy Mondays and Stone Roses in '89/'90 which made them realise they had to modernise their sound.
4:27 The greatest shoutout that he's ever gotten (the bass player from Coldplay).
Isn't his name Guy?
@@ellielovesbands Yes, it is. My life is now complete.
Bit of Zep. Love it.
Rage! On ya ABC and Noel. Noel is a great musician, songwriter, singer and Manchester United fan. 🤣🙏 ✌️🤘🇦🇺
Bland, by numbers picks.
1:39 Jumpin' Jack Flash is my favourite rock song of all time - and it's great to dance to. I've put in first on my Stones compilation, followed immediately by Honky Tonk Women and then Gimme Shelter. Listen to these back to back. It might convince you that Gallagher is right about them being one of the best bands ever.
Honky tonk women my fav of all time even at my age simple drums but f u c k I n brilliant Jimmy Miller !
Gimme shelter is one of the greatest songs ever written and recorded. This coming from a huge beatles fan.
Actung Baby. What an album.
Superb album , not a weak track on it
Noel Rules!
On the one hand, disappointed that he excluded the Beatles. On the other hand, I can hear him saying, "if I included the Beatles it'd just be all Beatles songs."
Remember this wasn't about his favorite songs, it was about his favorite music videos. And music videos weren't too big of a thing back in the 60s.
I love the Beatles but I doubt I would have included one of their videos in my top 10.🤷♀️
He’s just awesome.
Smiths and tears for fears 🔥🔥
Tusk/Fleetwood Mac is a great call. Underrated track
Tears for fears Beatles of the 80s never knew that
Listen to Sowing the seeds of love, it's basically I am the walrus.
Waterloo Sunset 😍
i could listen to this man discuss music all day
Really that a bit sad😢
Nice to see Noel actually liking something, and yes I do agree Tears for fears are the Beatles of the 80s
TFF were good but they never started a scene or did anything innovative.
Wor-ahh-loo Sunset is amazing innit
Oh...Chris Sharrock was The La's drummer in 'There She Goes'..!!
Let’s dance 😳😳
Tommy was released in 1969 but great choice!!
0:43 definitely
One of the most frighteningly witty men in the entertainment industry. This man wrote 'Slide Away' which imo is top 10 of the greatest love songs ever written. #NoelGLivingLegend
he's boring
If this is your idea of ‘frighteningly witty’ then you really need to expand your catalogue of witty people. He has his moments but c’mon
I totally agree, and Slide Away is probably my favorite Oasis track, an amazing love song, absolutely
Did you happen to record the whole special? I missed most of it but they placed interesting versions of the songs from what I saw in the playlist
Public Image is such a fucking tune
That Coldplay joke about the bass player was gold.
Minute?
Early Echo... stuff has some great baselines.
I love Noel's wit lmao
Very best will always be in my view queen and smokey robinson
Funny how people say Bono s a prat, yet all the other rock stars and famous people who know him personally say he’s a right good guy, good laugh and unlike the media portrait of him he laughs at himself and doesn’t take himself seriously at all, also Noel correct the Joshua tree and achtung baby are2 brilliant albums
As usual I agree with every thing he says ,except I'd pick " winner takes it all" instead of " waterloo" every time .
no Beatles and T rex ?
The Jam absolute beginners 💪
Waterloo and Waterloo sunset haha
People asking about why there's no Beatles
If you look at any Noel interview over the last 30 years he didn't really mention them that much, Liam mentioned them every two seconds but Noel really didn't, I always found his influences to be more 70's than 60's
He talked briefly about hammering them to death during the recording of Definitely Maybe but beyond that you will be surprised about how little he talks about The Beatles
😯 wouldn’t have seen Noel as an Abba fan.
yes the 70s are cheesy but Abba wrote some good tunes man.
Despite watching Rage, I am still just a rat in a cage.
no beatles?
Jah wobble has done some great solo stuff.
What no Phil Collins? Lol.
Can't fucking stand him either 🥂😎
🦖
Sus Sus Sussudio. 😝
Gr8 with early genesis foxtrot wind and wuthering
Phil Collins is #sh*ite and a proper 🔔🔚 too.
what song he picked by the smiths 🙏
It's Panic. He mentioned hang the DJ so I assumed it's Panic :)
Noel Knows his music. Apart from Tommy being released in 1969, but that's just nitpicking. The Kinks were amazing. Waterloo Sunset one of my favourites. The perfect pop song. Rolling stones jumping jack flash a classic. As a single it had child of the moon on the b-side, makes it one of the greatest singles. Bowie is a legend. I would have chosen life on mars or something from hunky dory or ziggy stardust. Not a fan of U2 but I do have joshua tree which is a classic album. Great choice of public image by p.i.l. the who were great in the '60s and who's next album from '71. The la's' there she goes is a classic tune. If you didn't know better you would think it was from the '60s. I knew it was about heroin. 'racing through my veins' gives you a clue. Echo and the bunnymen, the smiths and the jam are all great bands. The only doubt I have is abba. Is he being serious? Taking the piss? Whatever, he does have great taste in music. That's without mentioning the greatest the beatles. I also thought he would have had a stone roses track. Nice one Noel.👍
Pffff he's got good taste in music.
Our Price, great days
My local our price was tiny and dark and smelled like sweaty socks but you always found what you were looking for and I spent hours there in the 90’s.
Noel Gallagher and The high flying birds (repeat).....ok Noel, we get it!. You don't want to be in Oasis anymore..But just letting you know, that no one is going to remember or think of you as that band The birdies flying highest. You will always and for ever be Noel Gallagher from Oasis...now go and give your brother hug please.
"Noel, go hug that abusive piece of shit who slagged off you, your wife, and your children. You being in a band I like is more important than you being happy."
--You, translated.
@@therealnicolascage.iswear.8444 yes so let me forget the band that made me famous and also my brother because being stubborn means more...rock n roll
@@yeahbuddy4712 Noel: Releases a lost Oasis demo, releases (so far) 2 documentaries about Oasis, plays Oasis songs in his solo concerts, is planning an Oasis song-only tour after Covid.

What you into now
the 1970s.. greatest time of rock. u probably remember when The Wall came out in 1979
Didn’t know Noel liked LCD Soundsystem, my favorite song by them also!
ABBA 🩷
no pasa nada con tus rolas, admiradores de the smiths..... !!!!
poucas pessoas no planeta entendem mais de musica do q esse cara
Gee whiz he has good taste in music. What a surprise.
🥂😎
I love this guy 🏴
This is the bass player from Coldplay😂
How's there no mention of The Stone Roses⁉️
.
Personal taste
Seems like EVERYONE has a problem with Noel Gallagher’s opinion lol.
Thought he might chose some Inspiral Carpets, as he used to be their roadie.
07:48 what do people from UK say they are from?
I have no idea what he is talking about. I have lived abroad for many years and I say I'm from the UK.
In my experience no one from here refers to themselves as from the “UK”, it’s mainly Britain/British or whichever constituent nation you are from. It’s only post-Brexit that UK has been used on cars rather than GB for example.
4:43 - The La's part. Thank me later.
He mentions Lee Mavers and then the Bunnymen but not one nod or recognition to them lads from Marsh Lane .
To the person who liked my comment , nice one . You obviously know what I'm on about .
How did you know ?
thanks, that's what I came for!
@@pablojablo6371 They had the biggest influence on him and the band. He would've been fucked without the realies
wow, thanks dad
Woalu by abba
No manic street preachers?
Noel going all 'John Shuttleworth' @4:03
Bowie’s eyes are the same colour, one is permanently dilated so looks different
well said mate, was gonna write that
Guy Berryman
yeah mate old Noel has great taste / sensibility when it comes to rock n roll!
Just his opinion
Fantastic hair.

Tommy was 1969, Noel.

No Beatles?
