Those mwipers sound like farts
Scotty Kilmer, You are the man! You’ve been such an invaluable help over the years. Thank you so much for all that you do and all that you give back to the community. Writing you from Nashville Tennessee!
Scotty Kilmer .... One of your fan from India.
SCOTTY IS TOOOOO FUNNY!!!😊

I love this man's energy and spirit. It's why I watch his videos.
Yeah, agree. Visually he reminds me of a cross between John Cusak and Jeff Daniels!
A lot of these videos aren't directly related to what I need to do to my car, or even something I'm likely to need to know in the long run, but he makes everything so interesting and engaging and fun, I just can't stop watching! I feel like I'm passively becoming a master mechanic from all of the tips that took him a lifetime to accumulate.
It would be cool if there was merchandise that we could purchase to support him.
I love his presentation.
Typical texan... NO bullshit.. down to earth kinda guy
"No more of that horrible noise!"
*wiper blade noise *
*cuts scene*
Hahahahahhahahaha
Well the noise didn't sound "horrible" like last time at least.
+lahbl LOL! I thought of that exact thing when i saw it lmao
+lahbl Wipers will always make a sound when dry. Even a squeegee will do that. His point still stands, worn out wipers will leave streak marks because they are worn in certain areas, also loud.
+Hector Cortez , i noticed that many black "rubber" wiper blades have a graphit powder coating on it. Wipe one brand new with your fingers and you will see. I guess if this coating goes of the wiper will not slide so nicely on the glass surface and you will have that strange noise when they are dry.
+bunsoft2 I've tried graphite blades a few times and I don't notice any improved lifespan.
i love the way this guy talks
Probably the most underrated part of any vehicle -- visibility is a PRIORITY!!!!
Your endings always crack me up Scotty😂
He reused that ending but it's still funny tho, to the point where everytime a new videos coming up, I want to see how funny the ending is
i agree
+Kendall Portee Would you say that he 'recycled' the ending? Oooosh!
Its smart marketing because people waiting around until the end just for that. :)
damn
Thanks Scotty! You rock dude.
I wish I had this man's energy or enthusiasm.
Mmm...alcohol...a sip for me, a sip for my wipers.
+sc0tte1 meanwhile: 1 hour later, you're passed out on the floor with no alcohol left and only 1 wiper blade is clean
Peter Schmidt lol :)
+sc0tte1 Have fun drinking poisoned alcohol
+Stoney527 You've mixed-up denatured alcohol with methyl alcohol. Denatured alcohol are not poisonous per se, it just made really bad tasting for taxation purposes, so the producer doesn't have to pay the various excise and consumer taxes what natural ethyl-alcohol producers obligated to do.
+wotan20 I know what denatured alcohol contains. Still wouldn't drink it.
Right! 13 years ago, I bought a pair of silicon wiper blades for my '98 Toyota Camry. 110,000 miles later they are still working great! Every time I wash the windows I use the squeegee scrubber to clean the blades too. Then I wipe them dry with a paper towel.
Nice. By his logic he would change his baldes every 6 months. This is so unrealistic, ive had two different cars for over a year, bought them used so god knows how long they havent been changed. One worked fine until i sold it, other still butter smooth. I guess ill consider it if i ever have to change them
*"Imagine if YOU were a Wiper Blade!"*
ATCRyderX© back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth.............
Wtf
I am dying 😂😂💀
Never bring your car to Scotty Kilmer. He will do burnouts with it for his intros...
only the fast ones, and those customers want me to get them set up to be able to burn out. They like em being highlighted in my intros.
Nice! Keep up the great work!
Scotty Kilmer Can my 1995 GMC Jimmy do burnouts on both rear tires, it has a posi-traction rear differential after all?
MANGUS I would be honored to let Scotty squeal the tires on my 4.7 v8 Jeep lol
bring it on I'd love a jeep intro
God, 55 dislikes on this video. Who is so mean-spirited as to "dis-like" a video about maintaining your wiper-blades!!?
+Adam Wright Wiper blade companies.
Hahahah,,, priceless!!
It may be because, it really doesn't do any more than just washing them with the soap and water while washing the car; or it may be because they believe the alcohol will dry out the rubber; it may be because they are too lazy to do it and would just buy new ones. It's not as likely that thumbs-down from the people here means "you suck" as much as it means "I wouldn't recommend or agree with that".
+Lou Fazio
Agreed. I also thought the recommendation was unnecessary & possibly harmful to the blade material.
I just wash my blades with soap & a sponge--clean wipers work great with good windshield washer fluid. Silicone wipers do in fact last longer, however they are much more expensive. It would be interesting to compare standard wiper life to silicone wiper life to see if the $ & hassle is worth it--for many people--I doubt the extra cost for silicone wipers makes any difference to them.
+zeffur7 Yep. I've tried it. It doesn't recover the edge. Haven't tried the silicone ones for the same reason. I've been finding refills for $2...just gonna go that. FYI, I've noticed that RainX seems to break them down. Not doing the windshield where the wiper rests seems to help. -Then I think, boy, do I need a life? But hey, I hate crappy wipers, and I'm not ignorant (for the most part, lol). Have a good one.
Scotty, you just crack me up, your videos are both educational and entertaining at the same time. I've randomly watched your vids from time to time, but now I'm subscribed, I don't want to miss any of the new ones.
Thanks and keep up the good work.
Wow, thanks Mr. Kilmer, I just recently found your videos and they have been helpful. It's nice to see a mechanic who has been at it for that long with a sense of humor. Not much of a car mechanic myself, but have been working on trucks and trailers, military equipment, almost anything heavy equipment since 1998, but I'm actually learning new tricks from you, thanks and keep it up

Never heard of a more honest store manager 😂

I love your channel!! I only watch your videos because I trust your advice. Thanks a million
Love your videos Scotty, keep up the good work, and society will benefit from your experience this world should have more people like you!
i laughed so hard and ended up subscribing this channel. I wish my dad is half as cool as you.. dang!
Great tip. This worked for my blades. A new pair would have cost me over $30. A can that size from Lowes was only $8. I did all three of our cars. Thanks !!
Silicone wipers are the bees-knees! Much like yourself, I live in Texas and that hot summer sun beats the heck out them. Buying quality silicone will actually save you up to about $100's in the long run. I will usually side on the "buy once, cry once" philosophy but thee wipers really aren't that much! Thanks Scotty. Live free!
I just ordered 6 Silicon refill kits on Amazon for $3.99 each. Thanks for the info.
Scotty knows a lot of good stuff! Very helpful...and entertaining! Thanks Scotty!
Excellent video! Thanks for all the great videos!
hey scotty, just wanted to stop by and to thank you for all your videos. I remember starting watching your videos when i was in high school wanting to be a car mechanic. I didn't become a car mechanic but instead became an aircraft mechanic. But non the less because of you I've learned so much and how t do sinple fixes on my car and do alittle trouble shooting here and there. You sir are someone i wish to be like in the future. I consider you a mentor of mine. Thanks again for the videos please don't stop making them!
love your videos scotty! keep up the great work! dont change a thing. you've saved me lots of money. no other youtube channel has done that! thanks for everything
This was really helpful. Never really thought about cleaning wiper blades.
Also after washing the wind shield rub some Rain X on the wind shield makes rain bead up and acts as a wax on glass so blades slide smoothly!!! 😄
Pfft bro if you put RainX on your windshield u dam near dont even need to use your wipers 😂😂 that shit is no joke its like hockey pucks sliding across an ice rink..flys right off
Francis G yup and since I’m in NY meaning cold as crap! I run the orange rain X washer fluid. Find them on sale and buy early. Once it snows they are all gone. They contain more alcohol so they clean super well and doesn’t freeze like the cheap blue stuff at gas stations.
QuickCarCare, driving on the interstate highway I don't even use my wipers with all the RainX I buff onto my windshield. At that speed all the water beads off. The only time I have to use the wipers is when I'm driving thru urban areas at slower speeds.
fixedgearforlife yea the aerosol Rain X is really good too. I use that and also Rain X washer fluid. The orange stuff. The blue stuff freezes for me as I live in NY. The rain X aerosol also doesn’t require buffing. It also makes ice and snow stick less.
Thanks Scotty! Your videos are always funny, energetic, and of course informative.
I bought a set of Kincaid blades in 1989 and they still work great! Thanks Scotty!
Scotty, you're right about the silicone blades. I bought a set of triple edge brand blades and installed them on my 2002 dodge truck when I bought it new. They're still on there doing just fine. I also installed some of the same kind on my other cars at the same time and they too are still on there and no problems. Silicone blades are the way to go. I will be cleaning them tomorrow.
+Jim Pinckard those blades are very cheap on *bay and if they last 5 years its about 50 bucks worth of savings
Hi Scotty. Just rubbed alcohol all over my rubber and now performance is much better. Many thanks for the tip!
Scotty, I tried this. IT WORKS! Thanks!
One of the best sites. Helped me with a transmission problem. I do pay attention to my wiper blades. Clean them when I’m pumping gas and cleaning the windshield. From now on will clean with alcohol as demonstrated. Thanks keep up the good work.
1:29 that spit lol
Hey Scotty, thanks for your channel! I really love it. You are informative as well as funny, and I think it's great of you to provide the benefit of your experience to everybody like this. I can tell you genuinely care about what you do, and I frequently agree with your opinions on things. Since I try to be my own mechanic when possible, it's invaluable to have advice such as yours. If I ever have a certain question I plan to ask you first :) thanks!
+Wendy S you are so beauitufl wendy! and the roshan said wendy, you're a fine girl, what a gooood girlfriend you would be!
Thanks so much Scotty... your channel is a light in the dark ! Always teaching the good stuff!
Excellent expert advice with years of knowledge and experience behind it. Keep up the good work Scotty.
And as I told my daughter, don't turn them on while they're frozen to the windshield.
+don stromberg don't turn them on if there's several inches of snow on top either. It'll blow the fuse.
+don stromberg that is sometimes the case with these auto wipers also. I love them, but in winter they can be an absolute mess when it is freezing outside. Automatic means that you will forget to put them in the 'off' position
That could burn out the wiper motor.
+rogerjordan what are the fuses then for?
+rogerjordan i broke the wiper bars on a mazda 323 back in 97. I learned after than lol
Nice video and I love your energy Scotty! I was wondering what else do you use Denatured Alcohol for whether on car or around the house? It's a big can so I don't want to only use it for the Wiper Blades! Lol.
This guy is great!
I drop by the channel every few months and there's always something new and sensible.
Great info as usual Scotty. One of my FAVORITE parts of your video's is that you give a list of tools and LINKS! GREAT!
That's a great tip! Now I'm going to try using the alcohol on my wipers :-)
I hit mine with some Aerospace 303 protectant, it rejuvenates the rubber nicely.
I was wondering about this 🤔
Agreed. I put PIAA silicone blades on my car 3 years ago - and they are as new. Love them. Make sure you install them exactly as instructions say - rubbing silicone pad on windshield.
Like your video & way u presented it haha... Kudos to u. Keep it coming Scott.
2 year old Bosch Icon wipers still clear my windshield from simply cleaning them, and this is in the Sonoran Desert.
@ 1:30... Is that loogie you just spit into the rag going to help clean them? LMAO!
Joe Gray 😝😝😝
Joe Gray lmao!
Yes it was. I about lost it!
I think it was a tooth
By far your funniest clip, Scotty! I never thought about it much but I do seem to have to replace my wipers yearly due to our crazy weather here in Colorado. I just ordered the PIAA silicones from Amazon and, hopefully, they'll last at least 6 years like yours! Thanks!
Scotty, you are the best, man! I just love watching your videos. Keep up the good work.
To everyone who think Scotty is a bit like this bit like that... Indeed he acts funny in front of the camera but a strict professional. Advises only tried and tested hacks. If you listen to the your car will be an asset and not a liability.Adorable man he is. Though every thing depends on how much he charges , lol... Not my concern. He seems very honest.
Thanks for making so many enjoyable videos on car maintainance.
My question is. After cleaning the wiper blades could I then spray them with a sylicone lubricant? Would this help the rubber to last longer or would it have no effect?
Yeah, another guy on CZcams recommends soaking rubber in silicone solution. He used a n aircraft can, but Armour-All will do. did my wipers
yes, it would be a fantastic idea to have some sort of oil, grease or tire spray smeared all over your windshield.
My thoughts too. I would rather use something that treats the rubber, than something like alcohol that can dry them out. As for what chieftp said, I can see his point but there are rubber treatments that are not oily. I use one from Germany called Gummi Fusslig or something and it's not oily. I believe I may experiment with it. I just don't like the idea of something like alcohol that is known to dry things out. Much as I like Scotty K. I don't think he is correct on this one.
I love the way you shake you head up and down and your index finger punch and the funny ends.
Scotty,Love your videos...
they're both informative & amusing-keep up the good work!
I have been rubbing silicone on mine and that seems to help them last longer
"No more noise" he was shouting to cover the noise that was left 😂
Scotty is a living Legend!🙌
Thanks for the cool tips on making my wiper blades last longer! Your videos are very helpful! :-D
I will agree with the auto store, its all about repeat customers and not the quality of their products. We live in s disposable world that revolves around having cheap products that don't last.
Hey - I used rubbing alcohol and that worked perfectly fine. Window hardly every smeary any more.
Never have windshield wipers been so exciting 😂 we love you scotty!
Excellent idea Scotty. Simple and effective.
Put this video in half speed. Thank me later
Was cynical, but tried it anyway. Haven't laughed that hard in I-don't-know-how-long.
thank you. what a drunkard.
lol, thank you. If you want a funny part go to 1:57 and change it to 0.25 speed and watch from 2:00 to 2:06. That's what you sound like before going to the ER for drinking too much. lol
Lol
Hilarious
Mechanic for 48 years, wow, my mom is only 43 years old haha!!
+Emil A thats hot tell me more
+Emil A he's mechanic for 48years but he's 50y.o. so he started with 2years ????
THANKS Scotty! ... Clean and serviceable wiper blades is a BIG issue where I live, the rainiest city in the USA... My BMW M6 still gets free wiper blades replacement at yearly servicing, but when the maintenance warranty expires, I WILL be following your advice... Keep up the good advice... and keep that Mustang between the ditches!
It is such a joy to watch your video! Cheers from Hong Kong~~
1:29 excuse me don't spit on me and no it's not clean when u spit -.-
I was wondering who else was going to notice that
+Dave Haha ikr me too
+ramsey144 i thought who has spit on my monitor till i saw ur message........
DE Nichols LOL ikr
lmao dude i died over ur comment that was funny as f.
this guy has a likeable quirkyness about him. good tips.
Just absolutely love ya Scotty!!!!! Cheers from the Tampa area.
Thank you Scotty for so much great info and done w/entertaining energy. Keep ‘em coming!!
1:30 LOL
FroztiProductions ..he just needed to wet the blue towel a little 👍
Wouldn't the alcohol dry out the rubber?
Robert Wallace it’s denatured
You can also use WD-40
@@sqh1988 good to know !
This was very helpful thanks Scotty.
Man I enjoy watching your videos.
How do they get the nature out of alcohol, and what do they do with it? Though, I like it better natured, with a little coke or pepsi.
I have a theory. You can drink alcohol. To prevent people access to cheap alcohol, they denaturalized it so it'll blind the drinker instead.
can we use vodka alcohol instead? we have a lot in our kitchen cabinets. my younger sister has lots of silicone if you know what i mean.
I don't know you mean at all. So what you're going to cut her chest open and rip out her fake boobs and take it to a wiper blade manufacturer so they can use it to make you special wiper blades? That's murder
that's silly I wouldn't kill her I would ask if I can borrow some silicone. Geeze!
Billie Bob Norton III She's going to rip open her own chest to give you some silicone? that makes sense
why do you keep sayin open her chest? huh? not goin to get it from there!
w9j15g There is no way you think he meant silicone baby dolls, silicone baby dolls, really? wow
THANK YOU SCOTTY FOR ALL THE GREAT VIDEOS YOUR THE MAN.
Thank you! This video was full of great information! Great job Scotty
can i use regular rubbing alcohol?
hallmonitor98 yes
I just use the cheap Walmart brand ones, they are actually very good
+everss02 They lasted me 5 months. Used the rainx latitudes and they've lasted about a year, starting to make noise though. My next pair will be a silicon one for sure.
I usually get mine at Fartmart, either Michelin or rainx
+everss02 Most all replacements are made in China or Mexico?? Mine only last about 6 mons. :(( I'll try this trick to save some$$$$.
+Justin P. "Fartmart" lol
I'm glad they treat you well, I put a pair on my car and right out of the box they sucked. oh well, it was only 6 bucks. I'll go get some Bosch or something along those lines
I love his endings hahaha XD "after I'm done recycling myself" like what the hell?
Thank you so much all the information on wiper blade maintenance. I will gladly invest in silicone wipers.
1:29 owwwwwwwwwww my eye!! lol
1:52 it still squeaks just the same!
Actually, it was much less. Reason for the squeaking this time was because the window was too dry after the first swipe plus, over time the factory coating has worn off. The blades aren't ever going to be as new, but they will last longer if you clean them, just like anything else. No need to waste denatured alcohol. Glass cleaner will do the trick just fine.
Treat the windshield with a little bit of white distilled vinegar (same active ingredient that's used in RAINx) I did that and I was in a POUR-DOWN right after--really didn't even have to turn my blades on. When I did, no squeaks. Also.... might ask him a question above...something that i don't know about--so... check out that....
Yorick Aname wrong: the main ingredient in Rain-X is hydroxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane and acts like a silicone coating. Although, it's good to clean glass with acids like white vinegar, it wipes off nearly immediately, whereas Rain-X stays behind & coats much like car wax.
+Yorick Aname since when does RainX smell like, or give ANY indication it contains vinegar? Stop making up and spreading bullshit, mmmkay? It's a silicone based substance in an alcohol solvent.
Bawb Lablaw
Not spreading BS dipshit. I was wrong, ok, it is alcohol, but the vinegar did WONDERS for my windshield, lasted a LOT longer than the rainx.
I couldn't believe that trolls were trashing you about silicone grease. I'm an old guy like you and I like the 99.99999% of your information.
good to know Scotty love your videos. I'm a new subcriber.
Another way is to move to Arizona. Then take your wipers off and put them in the trunk. Put on car when needed.
The gouges on my windscreen would be impressive the first time I accidentally bump the lever...
John Houseman lol
Oh brother.
tryithere They get ruined so quickly here in Phoenix, especially during the summer. It's like they get a lot of use and get wet a lot but still wear out the moment it dries up and heats back up above 110.
lol I cringed .. yes that would suck very much
Do you prefer blue shop towels or the white shop rags?
+Barack Hussein Osama blue towels
+Scotty Kilmer lmao!
I see what's going on here! lmfao!
I usually wrap the whites around my head, while screaming "allahu akbar"
+Barack Hussein Osama HAHAHAHA nice username
Thank you Scotty! Noted and filed. Heading over to Amazon now, my next set of blades are gunna be silicon :)
Great as usual. Thanks Scotty.
Scotty, I think you dropped something @ 1:30
Love ya buddy
Do you disable the ABS for your intros?
Ha Ha, I bet his neighbours love him.
PuffinDragun69 it was a sound effect.
J Bouchard Ohh true, I feel like a dumb ass now. thanks for replying though hahaha
I had never heard of silicone blades. Thanks again! I've learned so many tips from you.
I love this guy everything he says is useful just got a new subscriber Scott good stuff
I have to turn down my stereo when it is raining because the blades bounce because the windshield is moving..flexing. Any ideas on how to solve that problem?
+Timothy Hinton yea, turn the volume down before you go deaf and the windshield breaks. You can also put heavier springs on the wiper arms to they have more tension
+Scotty Kilmer yeah my sound system is tearing my minivan apart.. but I love that low bass..lol
+Scotty Kilmer helper springs cause the wiper motor to work harder. Blades are supposed to have 1oz. Pressure per inch length. Sometimes lubricating the pivot and spring helps bring back original wiper arm pressure. Just my 2 cents , like your vids scotty
Go to the firestation to hose your ears out. If that doesn't work get hearing aids.
try Vaseline
Dude I love ur channel and your voice and personality is a hoot. thumbs up
Thank you very much Scotty. It did work no more annoying wipers. It saved me around 30 to 40$ for now at least as avalon wipers sold here in KSA for around 170SR.
