You don't get much more honest than Guy Martin, motorcycle racing's greatest British maverick!
A British lorry-mechanic better known publicly as a motorcycle racer and a television personality. Martin started racing in 1998, debuting on road circuits at the Isle of Man TT events in 2004, where he gained 15 podium finishes.
In our latest episode featuring Honda Pro Racing we caught up with the living legend to find out what got him into racing and what drives him to perform

The admiration I have for this guy is unreal. For me, he's the true definition of a passionate sportsman. Someone who's in it for the motorcycles, and the racing, not the winning, not the publicity, not the money, just genuinely engrossed in it, because he loves it. 10/10 would have loved it to be a lot longer, could sit and listen to him for hours. Thanks Motul.
He is a superb bloke and a complete hero to a lot off people....and a modern days Fred Dibnah.

Guy Martin is so incredible he makes me proud to be British...which is strange because I'm American. Wonderful man, hope he takes home the IOMTT trophy some day.
Guy could do anything and Id watch. His charisma is off the chart, He needs to host and participate in more tv shows.
Mr Mustachieo i totally agree bout what you said bout guy as a person but i believe if he had a regular show or program it would kill who he is or what he means to us. For example he is so unique that the odd show or program makes him that way aswell as his personality and humbleness. If he was on tv all the time he wouldnt be if that makes sense.
I think guy is a great person and would love to see more of him myself but i want him to stay great and keep me tuning into him once or twice a year. But like i said totally agree with you with guy as a person. He is 1 in a million

Didn’t even know who Guy Martin was a year ago. Here in the states we dont get to see the IOM to much , but I’m gonna see one. On my bucket list. but he’s great, would kill to get to meet him and sit and talk. He’s one of a kind, a tinkerer like myself.
If there's ever a guy I feel so much admiration for, due to his attitude and general demeanour, it's Guy. I can whole heatedly say his approach to life and the way he presents himself is something I'd quite aspire to be.
Man of the people is our Guy...
I'm not a biker myself but damn it I'll watch anything with Guy in. He is the epitome of the perfect sportsman.

I've always said Guy Martin is the best of British his passion for engineering motorbikes and competing is motivational proper British gentlemen as well. A friend once said he's no good he always falls off I returned by saying that means he pushed it past his limits and god loves a trier and so do the crowds
azbo obza friend of a friend of me tried also verry hard and pushed it past the limit. Now he's in a coffin at the age of 25. It doesn't matter if you're dead.

azbo obza I actually do. Love it everyday I ride my trusty honda. But the thing is, I wanna ride again untill I'm old and then some more. But I don't want to die because I pushed passed some limit or did something unbelievebly stupid. I think that growing old with motorcycles is way more enjoyable than dying on a young age in name of going over the limit. I think that you will push your limit anyway if you just ride a lot. Not only do I think its way more enjoyable, there are also other things in life like friends or maybe your girlfriend. Wanna lose them as well because you died? Do they wanna lose you?
Please don't value life so cheaply that dying for a cause like this is worth it.
Sjoerd Nijboer im sorry, but there’s nothing greater than riding as fast as i possibly can on my motorcycle. Fuck girlfriends or friends or anyone that could get in my way of enjoying what i love the most, and that’s riding motorcycles on the edge.
Guy Martin is a national treasure. We don't have anything like him in the United States, but we need someone comparable.
this Guy is a Legend.What an absolute talent & so humble.Many professional sportsmen could learn a lesson about attitude & persona from Guy.Still loves the hard yakka associated with the sport & loves getting his hands dirty.Guy , Rossi , & Barry Sheene, are my 3 favourite riders of all time.

@@morgan98801 yeeeeeeah but he wanted a title!🙄, he pushed and pushed and as peter above said if he took it more seriously he could have had numerous, I dont think he ment any disrespect by it, guy himself will be the first to tell you 'he didnt take it seriously, that being said 17 podiums (and a win taken away with a 30sec penalty) isnt bad at all for a 'part-timer'
Humble, full of Charisma and manic about engineering. He is also a very good motorcycle racer but most of all genuine. Very few around like that and he and McPint and JW69 are a rare and dying breed in Motorcycle Sport. A pleasure to have seen you race sir.
Guy may not train, but he rides his push iron everywhere! He's extremely cardio fit.

@@Andrew-cw4pk he wasnt a full time racer like the majority of the top 10's, they committed to their factory teams and raced where called upon, basically when the TT came around he had by far the least amount of 'seat time' on a bike, Guy was a full time mechanic,part time racer, which you have to give him props for considering he was always at the top end of the field up against 'full-timers'
Shame about the audio levels being out of whak. Music too loud when you turn up the vol just to hear Guy talking.

As soon as it was announced that Guy & Mcguinness were the Honda team, I booked my tickets for the TT. Watching at Cronk y Voddy, Guy's Honda decided that Neutral was the right gear for Dorans ' bend and he crashed while trying to manage the problem. John had spannered himself at the NW200 about 16 days previously when his 'Blade decided 100% throttle was the correct entry speed to one of the corners near the golf course. So I never got to see either of them at TT 2017. Still enjoyed it though. 😖
Prefer to see him away from bikes now .. and McG ... That Honda nearly took both of them this year ... World is a better place with Guy And McG in it.

Rossi and guy martin would make great teamates .They both have long sideburns and that crazy enjoyment and feeling of riding a motorcycle.

Didn't realise the roadbikes had this problem aswell! Growing up I raced mx and had honda 80cc and 100cc,both had false neutral.move to yam and suzuki for 125's,never noticed a problem.

fecking lunatic,loved all over and missed on the roads and paddocks in Ireland.top man..seen him race few times here and my god was he fast...him and Dunlop are the best in my opinion to watch, always on the edge but in control,just a pity he was unlucky at the TT,everybody wanted him to win one and he sure as fuck deserved one.

He signed up with honda road racing team as john mguinness team mate but johns engine failed and had a major crash but not sure which race that was? and guys went into neutral which caused no engine braking when it should of gone into 2nd so he crashed at the isle of man this year hondas bike is proving to be very unsafe and unrealiable :(

Too Bad he got a non competitive bike to ride this year, probably put a dent in his spirit to race again. So probably won't be seeing him anytime soon roadracing, but never say never when it comes to Guy. :D

He's too erratic, don't think he's ever actually won a TT
Stephen Williams he's won one but incurred a time penalty for speeding in the pit lane, •1 over 30 mph limit. I don't think he'll ever win one now as you need to do it every year to stand a chance, sections get resurfaced, bumps are removed and appear so one week of practice (which equates to maybe 2-3 hours actually bike time weather depending) isn't enough.
Cat rustler he was the fastest man on the day which ever way you look at it, I agree he acted badly. I can't remember how much he was in the lead but I'm sure the •1mph over the pit lane speed limit didn't give him any advantage but rules are rules.
guy was never leading, if your referring to the 1st superbike race in 2010 when he got the 30 sec penalty, it was our own conor cummins who was nearly 30 seconds ahead of hutchy and then guy 10 secs further back..conor retired on lap 5 giving hutchy the win and guy would have been 2nd until the daft 30 sec pen..but no guy was never leading in that race...
ginganz13 the rules are there for everyone! It’s not like they only enforced it with Guy Martin! At the end of the day, the rule is there and the punishment exists for everyone who breached the rules and on that particular day it was guy who breached that particular rule and therefore punished! The limit is there in the pits due to people (pit crews) being in the vicinity and therefore you can’t have bikes bombing through the pits at like 100/110/120mph.
@@liambegley7937 except he wasn’t doing 120 miles an hour in the pit lane, it was 1 mph over the already limited pit lane speed.
