Hearts of Iron IV is a grand strategy wargame developed by Paradox Development Studio and published by Paradox Interactive. I actually found this achievement really fun, 'Battlecry' on the other hand - yeah, I'm not even attempting that.

Battlecry isn't so bad. The achievement doesn't state it, but you no longer need the treaty port. It's basically just this run, except you're a little more reliant on the AI early on not to fold against Japan. Paratroopers can get you on the homeland.
I've tried both siding with the nationalists and opposition, it is hard to do either way as guangxi at least.
I got this achievements almost in 1960 I had to end WWII capitulate the US and etc... I did it as guanxi clique
Actually you can force the Japanese to starve in those landings!
The Japanese will always try to land in Qingdao and Weihaiwei (the port in Shandong) and the two tiles between them, so the solution is to win in the ports and keep a garrison around the two tiles
you willl need 6 troops forming a C shape around the landing site with 2 troops on the ports themselves
same goes for the Shanghai region
this time, place 2 troops in the 3 ports around Shanghai and place 1 in tiles around landing spots
this way you can avoid losing guns and make the japanese starve in pockets!

Imagine if the AI had the logic to determine how much territory it can control with it's divisions and compare with the count of enemy divisions and make a decision to defend core territory. Imagine!
Or if it had the ability to realize that logistic companies and fucking mechanic companies can help it not lose equipment because they are stacking 50 divisions in one tile.
Or that maybe you should stop overcrowding the frickin airports.
You could request the warlords for troops. They arent particularly good at pushing but there is a lot of them ana they are amazing at stopping naval invasions

@@Gamingmaster-jv9zj If you accept Japan's surrender, they will release Korea. However, to some extent it is still treated as if China occupies it even though it is not. As China you do not have military access to Korea then but yet you are still required to garrison it somehow, you see there is a compliance and resistance bar if you click on their territory. Plus should the compliance gets high enough as you saw in this video, you can make a collaboration government in Korea (AKA Chinese Korea) in which case the old Korea will disappear.

Unfortunately this strat only works if at least one of the warlords join you. If all of them refuse (which has happened twice), you wont have enough industry/time to take them down before Japan invades you.
That's a rare case but I am certain Yunnan or Shanxi will join you
Funnily enough artillery was invented in China yet the game says they haven't.
What they dont have is 1934 Artillery. They have a lot of very old out of date artillery still kicking around mosrly due to the sheer number of cannon they made...but modern(as of the interwar period) artillery? Required industry China lacked on account of a combination of getting complacent followed by the century they spent being fucked over by basically anyone not the US.

Some of the Chinese army didn't even have guns for much of the war. They had actual sword fights.
Used this strategy and won- achievement unlocked, thank you Dave! I actually got to sit and make a super tall China since Japan went down the non-aligned path and offered me a non-aggression pact. Also funny was that to get this achieve you need the specific peace event... which does not account for if you have already invaded and seized Japan's home islands (thankfully I got to keep those).

thanks i didnt think of making 7/2s so when i had to deal with all the naval invasions i would have 0 soft attack and they would spam naval invasions until i didnt have enough troops

In la resistance there is a bug, in which Japan isn't actually hostile to china until the Co-prosperity sphere forms. You can sign a non aggression pact with Japan up until April 1937 on historical: all you gotta do is improve relations and put diplomatic pressure on them with an agent.

@@GeneralLiuofBoston1911 I don't know if it's really a "native english speaker" issue, but I've noticed that they struggle with any foreign language, outright refusing to pronounce the words correctly for the adopted words
especially with americans and spanish and all english speakers and latin or old greek words or basically any asian language
the only word I've heard correctly pronounced regularly is the german "kindergarten"
but think of words like:
- entrepreneur
- guerilla
- zeus
- alejandro

Hey FBG: Always been a big fan of your vids; just got the membership to support and here to propose an idea for a new video: would you please do a vid on "Britannia Rules the Waves" kind of conquer, but focusing on surface fleets rather than submarines (which is usually much cheaper and easier but less fun imho for HOI4 gameplay)? Decisive naval battles against IJN or USN would be real fun to watch

When I completed this achievement with some few extras, it took me 1946 or 1948 because I had to fight against the Soviets, because Sinkiang joined the comintern and just controlling the territory wasn't good enough.

You could just use 2 armies of 12 elite div, one North one South, to avoid moving them too much and losing time to go to the front (even if you have enough infrastructure everywhere)

As a china player, I often end up as the new supply system for golf course, with my johnson being the new sprinkler system. (yep, they punched holes all in my JJ.) aka I get steam rolled and die...alot. i start in 36 and get taken out within 18 monthes. so the suck factor is high.

If you haven’t already you should complete the My Ships Don’t Lie or Crusader Kings 2 achievements.
Paratroop drop is faster and doesnt require naval dockyards. You also get the whole IJN which can be used to land troops on Germany and stretch their defense even thinner.

You can have additional buffs for defence from relationships with France. Maybe you missed it
The biggest bonus is the entrenchment one, you can get this through either France or the UK and the UK gives you CAMCO and better aeroplanes.

defending against naval invasions is pretty simple: you get to 40 Juntuans and simply order them to guard the coastline
I did this achievement a week ago. It was really hard for me this would've been helpful.
I think once you learn to deal with naval invasion effectively which is the main challenge here, you should be fine. Also another thing missed here is to get the Soviet Union Mission focus ASAP, no need to go deep into that tree because even just the top one is good because once you do, the Soviets will generously lend lease equipment to you.

I found the eastern provinces of China to be the biggest pain. Not much fighting but good grief supplies were a pain.

You can also use the wars against the warlords to farm xp, that's how I do it
getting rid of "army corruption" by letting your troops run into a meat grinder

The best way defending costal area is to have a few divisions using fall back lines to make pockets around ports. Japan ai will then endlessly send troops to land in those pockets with absolutely no supply and getting pushed into sea in like days. After pushing japan out of Manchuria, you build airport in Korea and let japan land and push around Siam. The dumb ai will now move all its plane to Siam and fight air superiority. Now you can just use 3 fighter to cover Korea, sea, japan mainland and drop paratroopers on their ports and transfer all troops on to japan for easy ass slap.

Guangxi is a double edged sword for sure. If they submit, you get a puppet with a lot of steel. If they dont, well they have a lot of factories and you can get the fourth research slot early.
Also so much exploit you can do:
- Shandong Trap: Put garrison on both the unmarked Weihai port and Qingdao port, also put troops on the middle line of Shandong to ensure your Weihai garrison do not get cut off. If the Japanese try to land anywhere in Shandong, they will be instantly encircled with nowhere to run.
- Shanghai Trap: Place troops on Hangzhou, Shanghai, Ningbo, and all those the middle part from that lake to Shanghai. Keep those shoreline south and north of Shanghai empty. Should the Japanese land on those empty space, they have nowhere to run.
- Deliberately lose Shandong: Try not to lose Qingdao though, the Japanese will try to squeeze in a lot of divisions there but as long as you don't let them take Qingdao, they should run out of supply and easy to repel. The thing here is so that there are less troops in the north.

I did something similar recently, except I did it way terribler than this, mostly just mass infantry. I suffered 78 million casualties as China. But I conquered most of the world.
